My entire experience with permanent piercings includes my ears (one hole in each, I was in high school or earlier, I can't remember the pain), my nipples, and my tongue. I do NOT think my experiences count as typical (from having talked to piercers and others with piercings). I had my nipples done in a single session, but one at a time. I do NOT recommend this. The reason is that no matter how much you nerve yourself up for it, once you've felt the pain you KNOW what to expect. You tense up. Or, rather, I tensed up. The second nipple hurt more because I was more tense. With the first one I held my breath and then panted a bit when the jewelry was in. With the second one I tensed up a lot and arched upwards, and I grunted some littled noise or such. I wouldn't get them done every day, but as an experience it is something I could ~handle~ doing once a month (assuming same level of pain, though I know you can't do that). I have pictures of the nipple piercing session taken by a friend, including one with the needle through my nipple which I love. ~chuckles~ I'm not a good comparison for how long I healed either. 3 days later I could touch the nipples with only mild soreness, and within a month my nipples were being pierced and tugged on. Within 3 months my nipples were back to normal, except with jewelry for extra decoration. I was extra sensitive and could feel more touch and such for about 6 months. It is now well over a year since they have been pierced and the only thing I notice is that my horsehoes hook on clothing from time to time, and when pinching it hurts more (which makes sense, there's a hard piece of metal in there to give extra pressure to a pinch!) Level of pain, on a scale of 1 - 10 with 1 being ~ow! I pinched my finger, I'll suck on it for a second and then move on~ and 10 being ~if I move I will vomit or pass out this hurts so bad~ I would estimate the nipple piercings to be a 4 and a 4.5 respectively. With my tongue, I winced, didn't make any noises, and drooled a lot ~apparently common that bit~. My speech was impaired for less than 24 hours, and pretty much most of the soreness was gone after 24 hours also. I was told to leave the jewelry in for 6 weeks, and 5 weeks in I was at my piercer's begging for a new (shorter!) bar and he ok'd it, so I was given a gold bar ~gift from Sir~. I discovered gold is MUCH too soft (I bit it in anger and I warped ~then swallowed in the night~ one ball, bent the bar in half, screwed the other ball up so I can't remove it from the bar). I now wear a reasonably short bar in my tongue most of the time, though spicy food makes my tongue swell slightly and then I change out for a longer bar. I generally wear acrylic bars and balls, whatever struck my fancy online or in the mall, though I occasionally wear my original stainless steel bar (Sir likes the feel of the metal better, and it picks up temperatures better!). On a scale of 1-10 I'd rate this about a 3. I also LOVE LOVE LOVE play piercing. I have had my labia pierced with a 14 gauge piercing needle (on a scale of 1-10 about a 6), had my breasts and ass pierced, have had needles directly into my breasts and ass both, and have had my pubic area pierced (on a scale of 1-10 about a 7) just above the pubic bone, with the needle parallel to my legs and perpendicular to the pelvic bone. I've worn back corsets a few times and in general I love needles. My opinion on play piercing, as long as it isn't in the vaginal/pubic region, is that it is about a 2-3 depending on the length and gauge of the needle (have had anywhere from a 27g to an 18g). Hopefully that helps with feedback. Questions or anything I'm happy to answer on my profile. I love to pierce too so anyone ever looking to get stuck, I love happy pincushions!!
