I absolutely love doing jigsaw puzzles.
Sudoku
And I have to confess that I'm a Survivor junkie.
When I get desperate between seasons, I've been known to watch other reality tv shows... The Gilligan Island one (I know...shameful), Hell's Kitchen, Top Chef, the design star one on HGTV.

i'm a Whovian (serious Doctor Who fan - both new and old series), i love libraries and read anything at all, like playing trivial pursuit, and love folk music.

Master is a computer geek, collects antique sewing machines, and is a cycling nerd.

several dozen various computer parts laying around the house (what does it say about someone who just can't part with their old, useless hardrive?)

Depends on whether it's more or less than a Gigabyte in capacity. i like to think that everyone keeps their most recent couple of drives hanging around just in case. If it's 2006, and you pick up a 240MB drive, shrug, and put it back on the shelf, you might have a problem *cough*

Let's see... Civ games (including the original one on floppy), compulsive Sudoku playing, dragon collection, shelf of fantasy novels, Ren Faire garb in the closet, small poultry decapitation fetish, Monty Python CDs and DVDs... Uh, nope, you're on your own for this one

*sniff* *sniff ... and teary eyed.  I am SOOOO proud of all our geeky kinksters!  Wow, this really was a laundry list of nerdom!  And I find myself going down nostalgia lane on many of these posts!

Now, if you asked "am I a geek?" you know the answer already ;)

Also, I am sure there are all shades and combinations of geek, nerd, dork, dweeb, etc.  I tend to think of it as "computer nerds" and "Gamer geeks" as beeing two main groups but there are cross overs!  Surely one can be a geeky dweeb!

lol, and yet, we all can get along :)  Share the love my fellow nerds!

greetings and good morning A/all,

i am a geek to the core.

i have been playing D&D since 1984, dress up to comic and anime cons in costume, play games and own 34 systems and but mostly the mmorpg, known as guildwars and am making my own pen and paper game with my own game system and battle engine. i play board games and collect chess sets from countries that i have to even though i really don't know how to play chess.

i have been building computers since 1988 and fixing them since 1992 and work in camera sales at fry's electronics. i still have my very 1st computer which is an old philips 8088 with a 10mb hdd and 128 k ram with an rj45 jack for the keyboard connection.

i'm also a student filmmaker  who is A+, certified

i also used to do videogame tournies and rank in the top 20 out of 500 + people.

i wote a childrens story which has passed copyright which i hope to start shopping it around for a publisher and have started a new book for beginers on the subject of basic photography and i grew up on a film slr (yay! olympus om-1) at 8 years old.

i also love doctor who and collect sci-fi and fantasy books and my collection rival that of my local library.

am i a geek?

from,
joe

Hysterical! And the guy makes me feel almost hip by comparison. Loved the vintage Impala convertible too.

As I type this, my eyes are looking at the Leading Edge XT clone I can't bear to part with! And it's surely a sign of freekdom (great acronym, btw) that I tend to name my computers. The LE is Celeste.

Ok..after revisiting this thread I can honestly say that I am NOT a geek.
Although, I like geeks with large vocabularies.

Reasons why I am a geeky sub:
I own every (and I mean every) She-Ra and He-Man espiode ever made. I need still the specials, but I have every single show on VHS. I will be making a She-Ra costume once I lose a little more weight.

I made a flicker whip type toy out of a non-functional USB cord.

I regard the time my character and my dominant's character spend together on Galaxies as quality couple time. We also talk on the phone about our Masquarde game while playing Galaxies together. For an anniversary he bought my character a shield generator. I was genuinely touched.

I know what color thumb nail polish Amidala wears and why.

I fetch my dominant beer while he plays video games and then enjoy watching him play Evil Dead: Regneration.

I own two copies of Army of Darkness and a copy of Evil Dead: Dead by Dawn. My dominant has Evil Dead 1.

I bought an X-Box solely for me to play the first Evil Dead video game and Spider-Man 2. Then I became addicted and transitioned a bit into the gamer geek catogery.

In middle school everyone hated me because I wouldn't play with them. I was reading Shakespeare and Gone with the Wind. Mutiple times.

I own a set of jewelry that has a d10 and a d8 for earrings and a d20 for a necklace. I got these at Otakon, which I went to only for the webcomics and the zombie panel discussion. While there I made friends with a stranger by zooming on him, grabbing the handcuffs on his backpack and going "Oooo.... cuffs".

I refuse to date non-geeks because only a geek (dom or otherwise) will understand when I say "But honey, can't we watch that chick flick I've been bugging you about later? I need to kill things!"

There is more but I don't want to bore everyone!

I always thought that there was a strong correlation between being a geek and being a kinskter. In fact, I have never been active in the BDSM social scene (i.e. munches, etc) until recently because I can always find them at Star Trek or gaming conventions.

Reasons why I am a geek:

I have read all of the Star Trek novels, seen all the TV episodes and movies that has been put out.

I can recite Monty Python quotes with easy and still laugh at them even after having heard them millions of times over again.

I play MMORGs. Currently I'm playing Final Fantasy XI and I have one character who is maxed out in level on three different jobs. In fact, I think a good pick up line is, "hey, baby, I have a level 75 paladin." I have also played all of the final fantasy games since the SNES. (And I know what SNES stands for)

I love to watch anime. I'm not a huge anime fan, but I own Wedding Peach and Final Fantasy: Unlimted on DVD. More then 90% of my movies on netflix are animes.

I love to write fan fiction based on animes and video games, and I think there is nothing wrong with this.

Most people would say I look like a geek but you should have seen me when I wore glasses!  Major geek!!

I'm also into computers.  I know all kinds of useless trivia.  I love the NUMBERS surrounding sports.  I know a lot about geography.

This thread is starting to sound like the end of the 1st "Revenge of the Nerds" movie!

Okay, coming from another thread on the switches forum ... there are a lot of us who have other hobbies or pursuits that some would consider "geeky" or "nerdy" ...

Now ... I would never out someone for geekiness ;) But I see no trouble in proudly declaring it for myself and inviting all geeky kinksters (and those that love them) for proclaiming love for all things nerdy.

I like games. Not so much computer games, but games. CCGs, RPGs, board games, you name it.
