I want to thank cindyimswf for posting The Leather Creed and this fine perspective piece describing the plight of kinky writers throughout history. It looks to me like satire at the highest level, with tongue planted so subtly in cheek that it is barely perceptible. Where Stephen Colbert goes so far over the top that it is clear he is joking, this author dances on the razor's edge of the top without quite going over to give the appearance of being serious. This is a masterpiece! BRAVO!!!

I mean, you can't be serious, can you?

uh, not so fast on trying to separate yourself from the mentally imbalanced

I worked in a locked psych facility.
The only thing that separated me from them was the fact that I had keys.

The Leather Creed

I would suggest changing the "The" in the title to "My" and every instance of "we/us" to "I/me".

LOL This reminds me of my internship and first visit to a psych ward during my college days.  We met the staff of the facility, we thought we knew who we were dealing with, we thought we were the next psycho shrinks or something.  Our whole class went, and we were shown around the facility by top notch staff, who appeared to know their various jobs and patients quite well.  We were all duely impressed.  Then we get to the conference and introductory assembly meeting, only to hear the speaker, one of which we had yet to meet, ask us how we enjoyed their staff.  Well we were ranting and raving about how wonderful and professional they are were to us, and we gave applause.  After the applause died down, his next words from the podium were, how wonderful and smart the patients were.  And, that it was THEY who showed us around the grounds.  Whew! Yup! You are so right on heather! ~grinz

#1 THE in the title gives it a one true way feel which sucks

#2 Leather is a roughly defined subculture that includes so many more identities than just slaves in the submissive roles you lacked in any accounting for Daddy/ boy boi, Sadists, Tops bottoms, and the many other forms and identities that make up the nation of Leather.

#3 you seem to leave out entirely the fact that Leather as a sub culture has a strong belief in gay and lesbian rights, since it's history begins with gay leathermen of the Old Guard.

#4 I would suggest at least a more than basic history in Leather as a sub culture would be imperrative if you are going to even attempt to write a document espousing the beliefs of the Leather sub culture.
