ProtagonistLily -> [Event] Newbie Sub/Slave/bottom Chat (2/10/2005 8:40:19 AM)

New Submissives/slave/bottoms Question and Answer Session.

I thought it might be good to hold an informal Q&A 'get to know you' for male and female submissives/slaves/bottoms. Please come with an open mind, questions or just to chat. I'll open the chat at 10:00 PM (EST) on Tuesday, February 15th and if there are formal questions, give a call for them, and if there aren't any, we can just have a chat.

If there are specific questions you are intersted in having addressed, please e-mail them to me prior to the beginning of the chat so our 'distinguished panel' (of which I'm counting on others to emerge to sit on) will have some time to give a good answer.

I encorage other Dominants to join and to E-mail me at Collarme to let me know. It might be nice to chat before hand.

Thanks,
Lily

erm... 10:00 in which time zone? It sounds like it will be fun.

Moleculor -> RE: [Event] Newbie Sub/Slave/bottom Chat (2/10/2005 9:31:28 AM)

So this is a sub/slave/bottom/top/dom/master thing? (I was going to throw the word domme in there, but figured that if I did it like "Dom/me", it would be confusing, plus I figured that those who are smart enough to figure out they're included will come, those that aren't, shouldn't.)

OO! All of them! It's going to be an all day thing! :D

Sounds like fun! If welcome we'll be there.

Promise to keep "Evil Merc" away!

LOL....yeah, come on. I just really noticed that there's a lot of new folks running around and thought it would be nice if some of us more 'seasoned' (does not necesarily read 'geezer') were available for an informal Q&Aish type of thing.

And I scheduled this for 10:00 PM Eastern Time, figuring the west coasters would be able to be around at 7:00 PM. Hope it works for you Merc and everyone.

Oh goody. I ask a question and make a joke, and get hatred as a result. Woe is me. And here I actually thought you were one of the more intelligent/interesting ones around here.

Should I do what I've had to do elsewhere and start using </sarcasm> tags? Or </joke> tags? I'd hate to think I need it, but I seem to need them everywhere I go.

My apologies for trying to clear up the obvious inconsistancy between listing just "bottom" types in the thread title and meaty portions of the post inviting "top" types as a seeming afterthought. And my apologies for trying to be funny. I shant try to bring levity to the world any more, for it is meant to be a droll and dreary place, full of darkness and despair. Thank you for showing me the light. Or darkness, as it were.

....

....

Oh, right, almost forgot!

</sarcasm>

As we all know, sometimes sarcasm is difficult to translate on the internet. Rudeness is not station specific; it is not exclusive to "top' or "bottom" types. And your sarcasm was really unnecessary.

I decide to devote a block of time, recruit others, and hold a learning/Q&A session for those who wished a forum to ask questions and not have to put themselves out there on the public forum.

Obviously, my first post wasn't clear as to Time and duration. Rather than making a mockery of this, you simply could have written me publically or asked a your questions without the sarcasm.

This seeming 'afterthough' was my attempt to make sure that no one thought I was playing Almighty Goddess here. I made a valid offer to help new folks to which you felt it neccesary to pick apart.

Hate at this point is moot; blocked is what you are.

Lily

I assume this will be a chat room on CM? What will be the name of the room?

Dear Moleculor,
I'm going to tell you why EXCESSIVE(on all the time) sarcasm (and I'm not suggesting you are excessively sarcastic) feels like nails on a chalkboard to me: a sarcastic comment would/should be followed by DUH almost always=meaning "I'm much smarter than you, stupid people should shut up"; I agree stupid people shouldn't be on all the time, but chances are very good that EVERYONE knows something/has experienced something you have not, and if you(generic you) listen attentively, without cutting off and showing off with how awesomely intelligent you are, you may learn something.

I guess I'm not crazy about people who feel they need to constantly pose as superior intellectually (unless that is your game in your relationship D/s or M/s), because to me it says unkind/inconsiderate/uncouth and unaccepting of people who've Not had the Exact same upbringing as you, and certainly does not give them any possible credit for knowing something you do not ( frequently is the case); as someone said, "everyone is ignorant about something" Always...

Plus, when it's coming from a sub all the time, to me it means I need to control this, and don't respect you enough to lead us, weather he means to or not, it's what I get, and dispose of his services... M

A mockery? Ha! You seriously need to grow a sense of humor. Twas a joke. Ya know, those things that are supposed to make you laugh? You know what laughing is, right?

Geeze, BDSM ain't supposed to be insanely serious all the damn time. Loosen up a bit.

Pick apart?

I'm sorry, did you miss the overly blatant tacking-on of a gigantic grin-smiley at the end of my statement? Was it too obvious? Twas a joke. Learn to laugh.

But I am excessively sarcastic. 'Tis what makes the world go round.

Actually, I think sarcasm means more of "Heh. Lookit the goof. C'mon! Laugh with me! LAUGH WITH ME!" and since people can generally laugh at themselves, everyone has a minor laugh, the person clears up the mistake/error/whatever, and people move on with their lives.

ProtagonistLily -> RE: [Event] Newbie Sub/Slave/bottom Chat (2/11/2005 6:24:19 AM)

Hi Proud,

Yes, it will be on CM. Let's call it Newbie Bottom (because if you try to make it too long you can't...)

For you perhaps. But Molecular, maybe you should let it go. I think Lily is putting together a very interesting, potentially valuable, event. It would be nice to let as many novices know about this as possible. But this constant ping-ponging of comments (which really have little or nothing to do with the Chat session) merely strokes your ego. And it puts barriers in the way of informing people. [&o]

Ok, maybe I worded this all wrong. This is a chat for new bottoms (I'm using this as all encompassing....Taggart, stop reading over my shoulder ~grin~) to have a place to come talk to more experienced people (Tops and Bottoms).

So, for clerification's sake:

This chat is being offered as a learning session to the new and the scared to toss out questions to the seasoned and the confident. What side of the whip you are on is really not important, although we might want to schedule one for Tops separate because it might get noisy and crowded.

I hope this covers everything.

L

No A.

Novices?

Ok, wait, since I'm getting blocked and accused of picking this event apart for a bloody frelling simple joke (complete with overly obvious smiley), lemme actually pick the thing apart, so there can be an actual reason for this insanely freakish hostility.

Novices you say? Sure, it'd be nice for novices. Too bad only 1/3rd of them are invited. Or wait, I'm not sure it's just 1/3rd of them, since in half of the original post it says "new bottoms", but in the other half it invites tops and others. So which is it? 1/3rd of the new people, or all of the new people?

So if it's just for new bottoms plus old bottoms/tops/switches, then where is the line of demarcation separating new from old? What're you going to do if a new top shows up and starts asking questions? Kick him out? Are we basing new/old off of age? Number of relationships? Weight? Height? Shoe size? It can't be based on anything so ephemeral as that thing called "experience" since everyone measures -that- differently, and there a bazillion plus one things to be experienced in, and not everyone is equally experienced in all.

If it's for anyone, new or old, as the second half of the post suggests, then sure, this is a great thing. But why the focus on new bottoms on the first half of the post? Was it a test? A filter for HNGs or something?

And I challenge any of you to actually keep the new non-bottoms with questions out of the chat room without the aid of CollarMe moderators. Dare you to try, even. Course, the lack of humor will probably scare them off on its own, but I seriously don't see how you'll manage it otherwise.

EDIT: Oh, K, Lily cleared things up. Isn't it amazing how a non-bottom can ask a question and things can get answered too? Amazing how that works.</sarcasm>

quote:

But this constant ping-ponging of comments (which really have little or nothing to do with the Chat session)

Ain't it great how discussions evolve like that?

quote:

merely strokes your ego.

WHOA!

You can read minds?

Can you tell me how to read minds too?! It would have helped clear things up in this thread, that's for sure.

quote:

And it puts barriers in the way of informing people. [&o]

Right, because questions from a new non-bottom are bad, gotcha. I shant ask any more questions of anyone anywhere. </sarcasm>

Finally, to balance out the insane amount of seriousness in this post, I leave you with the following link.

i think this is a terrific idea, i would love to sit in, hopefully learn a few things and come away with a smile on my face [:)]

However.......i am in Australia, and really have no clue on time zones [&:], could someone please post what time your chat room would be in our time? (did that even make sense? Sounded a little Dr. Zuess to me!!!)
also what day, i think we are a day ahead of the US (though there is a strong possibility that is wrong also [&:]
Aaargh too mathematical for me, reminds me of those : If the train left the station at 6pm maths questions!

Sorry for getting side-tracked, i would really appreciate if someone could let me know day, time in Australian time (which we are in daylight savings also)

Many thanks
