Kalira -> character traits (11/20/2006 7:50:51 PM)

Ok, time to be difficult again. [:)]

What do you consider to be THE most important character trait that a person can bring to a relationship?

Is it loyalty, love, trust, responsibility, .....what?

AND, why do you consider that to be the most important?

( and no cheating by saying all of the above )

Honestly: if someone is honest i can trust and respect, theirfor if i am in realinship with them it is easy to be loyal as long they are honest

reverendtorres -> RE: character traits (11/20/2006 8:02:08 PM)

Adaptability is most important to me.  Human existence is much too fluid to allow for successful rigid thinking and happiness to coexist for any great length of time.  My partner must be able to recognize this and be willing to work with it.

Knowledge of self.

SassySue -> RE: character traits (11/20/2006 8:38:23 PM)

Honor

MasterFireMaam -> RE: character traits (11/20/2006 8:43:10 PM)

Responsibility...because if they truly are responsible, they have so many other qualities by default...at least in my mind.

Master Fire

LaMspeach -> RE: character traits (11/20/2006 8:45:26 PM)

Honesty. If you are honest you can achive anything ...

Edited to add ... The honesty must start with in yourself and finding who you are before you can be honest with anyone else.

Integrity...so much is involved in this one word...to me it includes honesty and strength of character. Some one who behaves responsibly and is consistent.

ShyMistress -> RE: character traits (11/20/2006 9:24:17 PM)

My most important character trait in a person is if they practice the three "R"'s. Respect for oneself, Respect for others, and Respect for the environment surrounding them. If these three simple things can be followed then all other "necessary" traits such as honesty and honor become and are practiced as natural behavior.

I have been preaching it for years to the kidlets, practice it Myself, and would have no less of A/any involved with Me.

slavemaia -> RE: character traits (11/20/2006 10:04:58 PM)

ooh - i think - uhm - uh - well - hmmm - perhaps - but then on the other hand - of course there's - well - most definitely good communcators. lol  - Hey it's all been said.

Vegas1Master -> RE: character traits (11/20/2006 10:33:46 PM)

Total DEDICATION to both yourself AND your slave.

SunshineinVA -> RE: character traits (11/20/2006 10:45:35 PM)

Honesty, hands down.  And I don't equate brutality with honesty either.  Just good old-fashioned, no hidden agendas.

SamKeithsslave -> RE: character traits (11/20/2006 11:52:10 PM)

I'm with you ShyMistress - for me its also R.E.S.P.E.C.T!! Makes me want to break into song............ lol.
Respect for me also means love, honesty, trust etc I dont believe love, honesty or trust can exist without respect.

onlythewindknows -> RE: character traits (11/21/2006 12:52:05 AM)

Loyalty - because it implies a complete service to a total ideal, under which the remaining traits might stand a chance to fall into place beneath it.

Loyalty - unswerving in allegiance: - above all others.

Love is a slippery slope. Reliability is prone to uneven application. Trust can be shattered by a single glance.

Loyalty - faithful to a cause, ideal... is both lofty and straightforward, and may hold up better under less than ideal circumstances.  It can continue to be lived when love is lost, reliability is underminded and trust is shattered.

I was told once when i lost an LTR that it was when I had stopped living as a loyal person the relationship was gone as well.

gypsygrl -> RE: character traits (11/21/2006 1:38:07 AM)

Autonomy.

If someone isn't capable of autonomous judgement and action, or self-government, the effects of any other admirable character traits are going to be weakened. Honorable people can act in dishonorable ways if they are too easily subject to the influence of others.

mons -> RE: character traits (11/21/2006 2:28:56 AM)

greetings

to me there are many but two stand out alone and must be followed no matter what
there are:

trust lol i found the word honestly
i am dyslexic so i do not know tthe spelling of this one word but the meaning is to be truthful and all things no lying stealing cheating at things i know like if the stor clerck give you the wrong change to me keeping it is so wrong that is what i think should be brought to a new realationship, because if he lies and cheat he will do the same to me

An entire personality-

Because I am not very patient with patently dull and insipidly stupid people...

(or, is that not obvious in my postings)

Yes, Integrity!  Integrity means one is honest in all things, is consistent and reliable.  Intergrity goes beyond doing the right thing at the right time, it means doing the right thing all the time.
