Femdom is not an 'exception to the rule'. It's not an aberration. It goes against societal conditioning, yes. It goes against several thousand years of misogyny, yes. But it's by no means unusual. For instance, if one checks out the numbers here on CM, you will find the category with the highest numbers actually seems to be male subs.

Stop 'fighting nature'? EEK! This type of argument has been used, over and over, to justify burning sexual deviants at the stake(And in a modern context, _you_ are a sexual deviant). Please think about the language you are using.

Women's lib gave us the choice. Whatever works for you is(mostly) ok. Sure, some people will bash you, but people do that. They'll find a reason. Particularly if you go looking for something to be offended about. But before you say things would be so much better in the good old days, try and picture what life would be like for you if the reverse gender roles were the norm, and mandated by law. A lot of people would love that too. Not so sure you would.

I couldnt agree with you more! I am also going to college and pursuing a career also, but after reading the article on how to "be a good wife" i realize that many of the things i do ring true with that 1950's ideal.
It makes everything go so much smoother if women just act like women sometimes. It turns my home into a sanctuary to do the little things that you talked about... helping him take off his shoes, putting a little extra effort into dinner or my looks, washing him in the shower. All of the women that would "bash" you in the Vanilla world for saying things like this might find peace in giving up a little of themselves, and would be surprised at what they would get back.
... so I think we are up to 8 cents now :)

grr.
I know plenty of women who act very much like women who don't feel any need or desire to act like a 1950's housewife, and for whom it would be highly degrading to do so. Speak for yourself.

I think your idea of what contitutes acting like a woman and what malory21 and I consider constitutes being a woman are very different - nothing wrong with that and I think she is just speaking for herself, as am I.

Edited to add:
If it works for you, great. I'm sure it would work quite well for a number of bored vanilla housewives as well. But putting things in these terms sounds very much like you are 'bashing' right back.

I think mallory21 is simply trying to say that maybe women who think the lifestyle we have chosen is "nuts" or whatever should just trial it and see what, if any difference it makes to their lives before they admonish us for ours. I dont think her intention was/is to bash anyone back. Of course, being a 1950's housewife or a sub (male or female), wont work for everyone.

And if a woman has her own career, equal to her husband's, why should she be expected to go through all these extra motions that he does not? Unless she has made the choice to be his slave, and gets pleasure from these actions(and his reciprocation as Master)?

I kind of think thats the point. We have chosen to be submissive because to please our Masters in these little ways give us pleasure. I know from experience when I have been this submissive with a master that I am repaid 10 fold in the bedroom. I wouldnt be submissive to any man who didnt appreciate it.

Thought you might, Cynthia!

A good little wifey for you, and a good little hubby for me, both kept in sexy underwear and pampering us. Mmm...

Cute idea for a slave type, but these kind of articles were idealised versions of life.  Most people still had human emotions and occasionally let them loose.
There are several articles of this type.
I will post one on NEW BRIDE ADVICE in another thread.  Its a hoot.

have seen that around for years now, too bad it's probably a phoney. although i do agree with it pretty much 100%, whether for a wife or a slave. i kinda have an old-fashioned view of "wife" that's no longer supported by western society...so slavery fits better under the circumstances.

No, this is authentic.  I remember being taught that in health class.

There is a saying "If you remember the 60's..you weren't there".  I feel the same about those that yearn for the 50's- "tey never had to live it"

Agreed, unfortunately, less and less couples are unable to have this lifestyle due to interest rates and the cost of living.

Yeah, one of the less fortunate effects of women's lib. In the attempt to make it possible for a woman to work(and make equal pay), it's become all but a requirement, for men and women alike.

Not really since women's liberation was about the right to choose, not necessarily to be out there working. Today i can choose to serve rather than feel obligated to whether i wish it or not.

Okay its this type of responses that I would fear I'd get from Vanilla people in my life if I expressed my preferences to them.

Women's lib gave us the choice. Whatever works for you is(mostly) ok.

Why only mostly ok? I am not trying to say it should always be ok, just clarifying what you mean, thanks.

Yes, some people do bash, I have noticed that. I dont look for offense, but have to say being akin to being burnt at the stake etc isnt exactly friendly LOL
I dont think the gender roles should be Male = Dom and Woman = sub, clearly that doesnt always work. But I do believe there is a lot to be said for there being one of each in a relationship.

i'm glad to hear that it's authentic...i'd heard a lot of rumors that it was a fake someone just posted on the internet. but regardless, it certainly describes my ideal relationship dynamic.

but i'm not one of those who has a "1950s household" fetish...i understand the reality of the 50s, and especially being black and from the south, there are many values and realities from that time that i don't wish to come back. what i DO long for is to be in a culture, or be transported back to a time where gender roles and marital values were clearly defined and there wasn't so much of this, "it's all good...we're all equal...do what you wanna do" attitude. one reason i can never be a feminist is because feminism is in great part about a woman's right to CHOOSE her lot in life, and for me i can't fully embrace something if it's just a choice, like mustard over ketchup. i find comfort in there being a "Way", for lack of a better term. i did not CHOOSE to be submissive...i just am. just as my Master did not choose to be Dominant...he just is. personally, i need more stability than can be had with the "choice" concept.

Maybe, some extremist womans libbers out there dont consider it as merely being being given a choice, many believe it is a right we should all take advantage of. And yeah, considering I am heading to University next year I do see the irony - LOL.
I just love being owned and cared for, plain and simple

My boy can't wait until I make enough money that his life is making my coffee, cooking my meals, and catering to me at all times. As it is, we both work, he caters to me a great deal, and I in turn pamper him from time to time. Does it make me less of a Domme that sometimes I bathe him in the shower? Or that sometimes I tell him to rest and fetch what he needs? I think not.

No matter what gender you are, if you seek to be a house slave, the 1950s sort of thing can be nearly on target, but we have to stay flexible. [/rant]

I am so there on this level. One of my life's dreams is to have a male version of the 1950's housewife as my sub. That's one of the reasons I want to get my degrees, so I can support that sort of lifestyle.

I think the dream of the house-partner is awesome if both people are interested in that but putting it into a box that says that the woman is the one who is supposed to be the homemaker is a bunch of crap. I don't care what world we're in, whether it's in the vanilla world or the kinky world. Being kinky doesn't give anyone license to be sexist stereotyping a**holes. Unfortunately I've found a fair number of people who use BDSM as a cover or an excuse for sexist mindsets. It drives me away and I imagine quite a number of others away as well.

One of my most treasured possessions is a cook book from 1956 (or 58) that belonged to my Gramma... It talks about how to best prepare and keep the home for your man... It also talks about proper nutrition for a growing family... And how to stock the stove for different cooking temperatures. It is awesome.

I am going to print this article and give it to my neighbour (no idea about me and He)... She told me yesterday "I've noticed that He is pretty domineering, hey? You shouldn't let him control so much! Put him in his place!" (She is clearly the pants' wearer in her relationship) Hahaha!
