New rule;

If you cannot spell the word describing an act you are not allowed to perform said act.

I really do understand those with reading or spelling problems, i have two dyslexic brothers. But we are posting on a public forum board here, so for the love of all that is holy (or unholy for that matter) use spell check.

You should at least be able to spell the words for what you do and use them correctly in a sentence.

You are a dominant, you dominate.

A collard is a green vegetable, a collar is something you wear, and it is being collared.

Humiliation is not being able to spell the damn word!

Back to your regularly scheduled pissing and moaning.

......ah, but what about all you Americans spelling honour without its 'u'?.......

*giggles mischeviously*

seeksfemslave -> RE: New rule! If you cannot spell it..... (11/24/2006 10:46:15 AM)

Since I think deefeecation is quite difficult to spell does that mean I am in deep do do ?

Another point: those people who consider themselves good say at spelling are quite frequently shamelessly immodest about a somewhat mediocre achievement. Those who can do useful things say like sawing a piece of wood or metal accurateley are pleasingly modest about their undoubted skills.

Why is that I wonder ?

Tikkiee -> RE: New rule! If you cannot spell it..... (11/24/2006 10:58:14 AM)

I am grammatically challenged

Hmmm, I wonder who will believe that now

LadySeraphina -> RE: New rule! If you cannot spell it..... (11/24/2006 11:04:55 AM)

I'm picky about spelling and grammar too. Typos are one thing (though typically one should be able to proof what they have written before hitting 'send') but if you know your spelling is atrocious, for the love of Pete, use spellcheck! Of course, spelling isn't nearly as much of an issue as those people who write rambling posts that we can't decifer without the help of Saint Benji or Celeste.

They incorrectly spell a lot of words with "z" when it should be "s" too [;)] (sorry twicehappy, couldn't help it)

seeksfemslave -> RE: New rule! If you cannot spell it..... (11/24/2006 11:12:40 AM)

Decifer is a glaring error to my poor old English eyes !!

Also a major grammatical mistake exists in that one is singular and they is plural. So maybe Lady S you need to "pick" a bit harder !

KatyLied -> RE: New rule! If you cannot spell it..... (11/24/2006 11:25:21 AM)

I actually laughed when someone suggested using search for help in the thread for humlation ideas.  I know they meant well, but I doubt that a search for humlation would find many hits.

Seeks, as long as you can still take a shit you should be ok.

Sawing metal?

I can cut it with a torch or a plasma cutter, i can also weld and use an English wheel.

Sawing wood i leave to Jewel as she cuts much neater than i.

Termyn8or -> RE: New rule! If you cannot spell it..... (11/24/2006 11:26:22 AM)

Funny, I was about to start a thread similar. Was thinking of calling it 'English lesson'.

The TWO of them are going TO take THEIR bikes down THERE TO THEIR favorite spot because THEY'RE TOO tired TO walk. It will AFFECT them in a positive way and the EFFECT lasts a while.

Get it ? You might have to read it 459,120 times or perhaps once will do.

Really, I have read so much excellent correspondence on this forum and it is clear that people here do possess a mind and actually use it. I can see past errors and make my judgments more baed on content rather than spelling, but there is another issue. When you make certain mistakes a good portion of people read something into it, and that something is that they respect your intelligence a notch or two less.

We all certainly agree that reading is fundamental. Who wouldn't ? But if reading is fundamental then what is one to read ? I therefore submit that writing is even more fundamental.

I do mention it once in a while, but in no way is it my job to critique everyone's spelling. I do however see language as a tool, used for communication. When you use a tool properly, whether it is a hammer or an oscilloscope, you get the best results by using it correctly.

When you use language correctly, the reader seems to flow through it. When the reader has to do mental gymnastics to correct errors on the fly I think it generally detracts from the writer's point. And in a case where the writer is presenting ideas in a contrived order for effect, errors pretty much blow that out the window.

There is significant contingent of readers that will make an unsound judgement based on the writer's spelling ability. Even though I avoid jumping to conclusions, certain things are apparent to the highly literate. First of all if one refers to 'license' as plural, it indicates that they learned language phonetically. In and of itself it is not a bad thing.

I like to try and use language properly, but I do screw up sometimes so don't go picking through my posts and finding things. I'll nip that in the bud right now by admitting that I am not perfect. So there. :-)

I saw that tooooooooooo!

luciddream -> RE: New rule! If you cannot spell it..... (11/24/2006 11:52:44 AM)

I'm not the grammar or typo police by any means.  The to/too, they're/their/there, or your/you're when continually used wrong is a HUGE pet peeve.  It hurts, and not in a good way.

This is like, my favoritest thread ever.  Thanx. [:D]

MistressTruth -> RE: New rule! If you cannot spell it..... (11/24/2006 12:10:13 PM)

You probably like other people's errors because you have other things besides your ego that end up having flagging issues.

Level -> RE: New rule! If you cannot spell it..... (11/24/2006 12:17:15 PM)

If you can not spell it, do not smell it.

*sends post turkey day well wishes to the Scooter/Jewell/twice triumvirate.

twicehappy -> RE: New rule! If you cannot spell it..... (11/24/2006 12:52:36 PM)

Thank you Level and Happy Turkey Day to you as well.

We are having the kink friendly group over for a less formal turkey dinner on Saturday.

And hopefully kudos will soon be in order; Jewel's new male arrives Saturday as well. He is vanilla but Scooter and i think she can correct that issue given time.

He is an anniversary present to Jewel from her lesbian daughter and her life mate.

I can't wait to see what they are giving Scooter, lmao......
