Relax, I know more than everyone here (and everywhere else) so just point 'em to me!  If I haven't argued with you, you're not a "threat" to my crown....  lol

Seriously, as LA has said, it's just a defensive barb from someone who feels threatened by you and I'd see it more about them and their own self esteem issues.  Just be yourself because no matter what, you're still gonna piss some people off and draw others to you.

Focus.

I don't come off as a know it all; however, it HAS been brought to my attention several times that I often post in a way that comes off as sounding superior  , something that Master says I really must work on.

However, there are a great many on these boards who come off sounding as know-it-alls, or as superior, etc; I doubt any of them do so intentionally. If this person is putting you down because of the way you speak or write; then I would say the issue lies with them, not with you.

But Amy,

Some of us really DO know it all. LMAO

If they have a problem with you sharing what knowledge you have, that's their stuff, not your stuff. If you behave in a manner that is pleasing to you, don't worry about it.

I really am a know it all but I'm not great at decision making. I like to think of myself as an advisor, a person with a great store of information useful in all kinds of situations. So I found someone who likes knowing he doesn't have to look things up, he gets me to do that for him. I present him with this huge fund of information and he makes his decision. The important thing here is that he isn't threatened by me. He's proud of me being this smart and that a smart, capable woman like me is absolutely head over heels over him.

But I will admit that men who aren't threatened by smart women do seem to be rather rare.

I try to do the IMO thing too, sometimes it gets left out, but if anyonr is unclear of what you (or me for that matter) are trying to say they should clarify. My daughter needed to see a pysch when she was younger - various problems with social situations etc and having to deal with her autistic brother beating on her and the rest of us  - anyway the pysch told her something which I have always thought a quite useful thing. Because she was allowing the other children to get to her by saying things like "my house is bigger than yours" etc the pysch told her to repsond by simply saying "Oh thats lovely, how wonderful for you" - she explained to Holly this will take the "sting" out of their comments. Now Holly is what some might call a nerd, she is an A and A+ student and often is told she is a brainiac etc, she adopts the same premise as above and replies "Oh do you think so? Thats nice of you to say" - ROFL, it usually leaves them speechless.

Ok, I don't know you all that well yet but you've never come off that why to me. I agree with the others. This was probably like the "you are fake" pheonomon.

From one (quite possible) know it all, to another (suspected) know it all: You know what you know.
Just remember though, that assumptions are bad, and leaping to conclusions is bad, and generalisations can be killers, but if people didn't impart what they knew to others who didn't know, then we might all still be crawling around in the primodial swamp. (Operative word here is "might").

Don't take it personally. If they called you a know-it-all, then they were probably experiencing some negative emotion such as inferiority. Mind you, to a sub (well this one, at any rate, lets avoid generalisations here), being made to feel inferior is the best!

I dunno just my thoughts but pretending you cared about what he was saying for me would be sort of dishonest.     The point is if the conversation was not compatible it's probably best he's a former.

Dishonest is putting it lightly, granted, I dont know her or her former Dom but IMO her statement really says something about her submission.

I have been on these boards for almost a year now and I do not think you come off as a know it all. You never seem arrogant to me. I think real life experience counts for alot and more should learn from others that have this. Some are not willing to learn and throw out insults when they feel threatened.  There is nothing wrong with you.

My observations are in line with the others who have posted, so my only question to you is, did you at all share with them "eeeeeep...that hurt my feelings"??

Sometimes folks are rude, insensitive and have no clue how their words impact the feelings of others.  How will they learn unless those who have been affected by their words share their feelings with them?  That is the only reason I ask this question.

At the same time, it would be equally fair to say that you have a choice to decide for yourself whether or not to let that person's words hurt your feelings.  With all that said, it seems to me there must be a balance between wearing one's heart pinned to their sleeve and keeping it tucked away, totally secure in a metal safe.  Finding that balance is not easy and is something that seems to me to be both part instinct and part art.

Sometimes, you do know more than others. This is a risk that is necessary to take in order to educate others.
