Colors that were dropped by Crayola?

Yes, retired colors was the answer I was looking for, though everyone gets a gold star for effort.  And erin was really close again, but only Petruchio gets the money for being correct - "Jeopardy" is a cruel game!

Thanks everyone for sticking with it.  But now it's someone else's turn.

~Holly, who settles back and waits for a new list

Oh, wow. (jumping up and down) And I need the money too!

No whining and I'll provide a new list. This is admittedly obscure but it's easy with Google or another reference. Be sure to drill down because I'm seeking something specific.

  • Barsac
  • Bommes
  • Fargues
  • Preignac
  • ?

You have 4 out of 5 items I'm looking for. The 5th entry is both an item and the overall category name I'm looking for. It's presence would give the game away, so it's a clue.

In fact, you have 2 clues so far.

I counted three clues.  (BG)

A particular part of French wine country.
Famous APPELLATION that produces some of the most outstanding sweet wines in the world. The Sauternes AC lies within the GRAVES district of France's BORDEAUX region, approximately 25 miles southeast of the city of Bordeaux. The designated area includes the five COMMUNES of Barsac, Bommes, Fargues, Preignac, and Sauternes. Barsac is unusual in that it has its own appellation and its wines can be labeled either BARSAC AC or Sauternes AC.

An area of France known as the "five communes of the Sauterne AC"
The designated area includes the five COMMUNES of
  • Barsac,
  • Bommes,
  • Fargues,
  • Preignac,
  • Sauternes.

I'm guessing here because I don't drink beer, but I'm guessing these are German beers, although you may be looking for something more specific beyond my ken.

You are in the correct ball park.  Very close, but no cigar.

  • I'm just not getting it and I'm pretty good with German beers. Alt technically Alt Bier is a yeast based beer. Berliner Weiss is wheat but has a partial yeast to it. Bock refers to the strength of the beer itself particularly wheat beers and Helles is a pale and has something to do with PH if I remember correctly...I know wheat beer went out of popularity for a long time and is recently in the last decade making a come back. Argggh I just can't get it. I would have said they were all wheat beers if the Alt hadn't been on the list.

Isn't yeast simply added to mash to trigger the process?

opps ... we can't do that without a time machine.

    Nicely done.

I was looking for kinds of beer which your answer does provide.  Each kind of beer has different properties which is what you descibed.

    My Source:  http://beer.about.com/od/germanbeers/tp/10GermanBeers.htm

    Please make the next question.

Yeast is the fermentor yes but in different beers the yeast to mash ratio is higher or lower thus allowing other flavors to come to the top. A bit like wines that have a top note. Just my opinion...your thoughts may differ.

http://www.howtobrew.com/sitemap.html  is a great site and has all sorts of nifty specs in brewing and ratios for different types of beer brewing.

Has anyone figured this thing out yet!
