LanceHughes -> RE: What Do These Things Have In Common? (1/23/2010 9:36:26 AM)

Knock, knock.  Is anybody home?

Top of page repeat:

And here we go with a unique quartet:

Helen Hayes
Rita Moreno
Audrey Hepburn
Whoopi Goldberg

Yes, you might find two more names that you think could be on this list, but there IS something that makes this a totally unique quartet.

More clues..... the commonality can be achieved by any performer.  To date, 6 men have achieved the same commonality. Helen Hayes was first of all 10 (or 12 - see first hint above) performers to achieve this.

Hiya Lance,

This looks like one of those Oscar, Emmy, Tony type things.

They have all won all three?

LanceHughes -> RE: What Do These Things Have In Common? (1/23/2010 10:04:48 AM)

Close, but not close enough

EbonyWood -> RE: What Do These Things Have In Common? (1/23/2010 10:22:37 AM)

Hmmm,

I can only think Grammys as well, or instead of one of the awards.

I will say all four and wait for the clue.

I'm really not a theater person.

LanceHughes -> RE: What Do These Things Have In Common? (1/23/2010 10:42:09 AM)

Yes, these four women all won all four of the awards: Oscar, Grammy, Tony, and Emmy.  (How's that for a quartet within a quartet?)  Barbara Streisand and Liza Minnelli have both received all four, but each won three and received one of them as a special (non-competitive) award.

Go ahead, Mr. Wood.
Regards, Mr. Hughes - LOL!

EbonyWood -> RE: What Do These Things Have In Common? (1/23/2010 11:04:42 AM)

Hmm ok, try these.

Leatherback turtle
Cassowary
Rhinocerus

EbonyWood -> RE: What Do These Things Have In Common? (1/23/2010 11:28:31 AM)

Hmmm, no. A couple may be relatively fast, but that's not the link.

mnottertail -> RE: What Do These Things Have In Common? (1/23/2010 11:29:37 AM)

cowboy boot leathers.

EbonyWood -> RE: What Do These Things Have In Common? (1/23/2010 11:32:45 AM)

Nice try, Sundance but no.

Let's add endangered.  The hippopatomus is THE most dangerous land mammal, but the rhinocerus is endangered, making my answer:

most dangerous of the endangered sharks
most dangerous of the endangered turtles
most dangerous of the endangered birds
most dangerous of the endangered land mammals

EbonyWood -> RE: What Do These Things Have In Common? (1/23/2010 11:44:37 AM)

Not there yet. Not danger but something else.

What, no clues?

I got nuthin'

ETA: and I gotta get to work soon.......

do have a quartet in hand, but can't "get back" to y'all until later.

EbonyWood -> RE: What Do These Things Have In Common? (1/23/2010 1:05:20 PM)

Lance, you're so close and I'm being an ass.

It is the 4th largest
Fish
Reptile
Bird and
Mammal, respectively.

LanceHughes -> RE: What Do These Things Have In Common? (1/23/2010 1:50:26 PM)

Thanks, Ebony.

Keeping with the quartet (4th largest, 4 awards) within a quartet theme:

Atlanta
Chicago
Denver
Philadelphia

Alphabetical order has nothing to do with commonality.  It is in alpha order because what I cut and pasted was in alpha order.  Maybe the first hint will be to re-write the quartet in the order in which they came to have the commonality...... Oh, .... that's a hint isn't it?  Again, a unique quartet.

Hanable -> RE: What Do These Things Have In Common? (1/23/2010 5:10:53 PM)
