Um, OK. New Quartet:

Königskinder
Pierrot Lunaire
Wozzeck
Die Dreigroschenoper

fluffypet61 -> RE: What Do These Things Have In Common? (3/19/2010 6:02:53 PM)

They are all operas/musical dramas written in the late 1800's and early 1900's.

They, however, share a vocal style....

Which is: ___________________ .

Atonality?

Both Berg (Wozzeck) and Schoenberg (Pierrot Lunaire) wrote atonal music - music without a traditional major/minor key.

(btw, the Jazz classic Mack the Knife comes from Die Dreigroschenoper.)

Which is definitely not atonal. Nor is Königskinder.

This is specifically a vocal technique. It goes by two names--I'll accept either one.
