Camels or P-horses?

LanceHughes -> RE: What Do These Things Have In Common? (8/10/2010 6:31:16 PM)

Clue request:  Animal, vegetable or mineral?

heartcream -> RE: What Do These Things Have In Common? (8/10/2010 8:29:04 PM)

You are all getting close now. Yes an animal (none mentioned directly so far) found depicted in cave paintings that has been given as a diplomatic gift, which can go longer periods than a camel without water. We are close to the finish now, not far to reach is it?

Camels or P-horses?

DC, I was thinking while I was away from my computer that maybe I ought to have already pointed out that camel is partly correct. By the time I came back to say so it was guessed. Lookie though here is somewhat an example of what EW was talking about: Chess on fine glass stools...

Class: Mammalia (Mammals)
Order: Artiodactyla
Family: Giraffidae
Genus: Giraffa
Species: camelopardalis

I am not much clearer on the differentiations of classifications yet[:D]

You know they used to be called cameleopards, when people thought they looked like a cross between the two.

Camel  x  leopard.

I digress.

There's a huge difference between boats and tulips. May I inquire as to how
you arrived at either as a guess? I want to know how that mind of yours operates[8D]

I am not sure how my mind works, hehe. I see Princess Juliana and I think Holland and think tulips and know they have inspired intrigue although I havent read in depth at all about it. I recently heard somewhere there is a book/movie about it.

Saadi appears to be Persian maybe? A poet? Lady separate from Princess Juliana sounds like her, or another upper-class woman, adding to the sense of some sort of tryst or passionate political/romantic occurrence? It triggers images of big white boats-- 109 kind of sounds nautical?

pissthirstysub -> RE: What Do These Things Have In Common? (8/11/2010 8:39:12 PM)

song lyrics?

heartcream -> RE: What Do These Things Have In Common? (8/11/2010 8:43:41 PM)

Wow DC those are amazing horses, thanks for the link.

poise -> RE: What Do These Things Have In Common? (8/11/2010 8:50:33 PM)

I've just returned from the inner workings of your mind, and what a journey it was!!!
Your explanation of your guesses is lovely...you seem such the romantic!

109 is the number of tulip species.
Lady is on of its classifications
Saadi wrote a famous poem about them.
Princess Juliana, in 1946, sent Canada 20,000 tulip bulbs as a thank you for giving her refuge.
Neat Story about that here
It also happens to be my favorite flower[:D]

So....Tulips is the answer, and you are now on a 3 win roll!
Im only sad it didnt take long enough guessing for me to throw in some of my infamous rapping,
or my Tulip joke that I was going to use an additional clue![:(]
