Where and how did you find out about BDSM for the first time?

Status: offline 		I want to start this topic by this question that: “Where and how did you find out about BDSM for the first time?”
Where did you read, hear or see about BDSM for the first time?
 
Personally I found myself interested in Slavery, Domination and Corporal Punishment when I was only 7 or 8 year old boy and then after that little by little I found that I enjoy dominating girls or playing games with them that at the end of that looser should be punished. But my first clear understanding of BDSM was when I saw BDSM and Spanking Websites on the internet which at that time I was 18+. By using Internet I learned that there are some other people like me and found out some of them are professional in this area.

I think spanking is one of the basic things that every sub can enjoy it however it depends to the first experience.

Lots of people on CM had thoughts that could be described under bdsm from early ages, but didnt know what it was.

No, I mean when for the first time you found the meaning of the word "BDSM" and understood what it is. However some people like me find themselves interested in D/S relationship before learning about BDSM life style.

Status: offline 		I first found out about it from a friend on a website I frequented directing me to a BDSM chat room, which explained a great deal about the 'peculiarities' of the relationship my girlfriend and I had, we learned a lot from that.

Status: offline 		I'd actually been doing it for some time before I became "enlightened" to the terminology. Back then though, we really just called it S&M. Yeah.....I'm fricking old...lol.

I too found myself interested in slavery and obedience around the age of 7-8 when I would watch arabian night/roman slavery type movies. The scenes showing the males dominanting the slaves and the slaves obeying aroused something in me. I cant say exactly when I became aware of BDSM, for me it was something that was always there and I always seemed to know about.

Status: offline 		The term BD/SM and the internet did not yet exist when my babysitter and her sisters taught me to enjoy both sides of this.

There also was no TV yet in our home, so I became a voracious reader. I found many accounts of power exchanges in histories and historical novels, and found lots of kinky ideas in translations of roman histories. I found some very interesting ideas in "The Lives of the Saints".

I believe my first encounter with the acronym BD/SM as standing for the practices of B/D (bondage and discipline), D/S (domination and submission) and S/M (sadism and masochism) came from reading porn. By then I had long enjoyed all of the above.

My best networking experiences took place during the mid 1990's, when classic Prodigy had a lovely power exchange community. There were forums for many including newbies, dominants, submissives and switches, forums with talks by well known people in the scene, permanent on line discussion rooms, well established bulletin boards and good support. That all fell apart when that service was ended in 1999. I met people through bulletin boards, through chat rooms, through regional events, and from people contacting me or my contacting them after reading profiles. I had some lovely relationships and made some friends I am still close to.

I know some of the old P* crowd is here.

And there I was ready to regale you all with tales of sneakily flicking through the couple of "Gor" books my father had.

The truth is I simply can't recall the first time I came across the term BDSM, but I know for sure it didn't come from the internet, friends or TV.

I'm pretty sure I must have picked up the term from the ads at the backs of Porno mags, which means I must have known about it at least 17 years ago, which makes me sound older than 33, which isn't good...

As a kid I would play cowboys and indians and I'd always be the indian and get to be tied up I also remember a comic book about a Roman slave girl and I used to fantasise that I was her. I didn't have a name for all this though, not until I met Master online and He explained it to me and gave me links to read, most notably Castlerealm's site.

I now know where I belong.....never been happier
