Dear damia, Ladies and Gentlemen; I don't get my knickers in a knot much anymore over Domme vs. Dominatrix but, I rather be labeled as a Dominatrix over a Domme. In the use of Domme, its too much like Mommie--and I'm no Mommie. I agree, that Dom and Domme are lazy wordings for Dominant and Dominatrix. Unfortunately, prostitutes with whips and Professional services Dominatrix have be lumped; as to which forces respectful womem into using terms that just aren't respectable and text correct. It is the same with the use of Madame or Ma`dame; which is more likely to be associated with a woman running a bawdy house or prostitution house, rather than a lady or 'Dame' (titled Dame not Humphry Bogart's use of Dame). Yet, in England, the Queen's mail is started as "Dear Madame." -- So, I do believe it depends on where in the world and how language is used, that manipulates female dominants into using terms that seperate us from the whip whacking women in prostitution and those who provide services as a professional dominatrix. Often times those of us who identify as lifestyle dominatrix, are often defined as 'amature.' Which ruffles my feathers--as most of us here are not amatures by any means. Respectfully submitted for consideration, Lady Hugs
