My partner mentioned having me registered, and then using this number to have me tattooed.

I think it sounds a little silly for me personally, a random series of numbers and a barcode, I'd much rather he comprised a number for me using numbers that mean something to us (anniversaries of special events, birthdays, etc.)

I was just wondering how many here have been registered, and if so, what was the significance behind it for you?  Would just like to hear stories from others about this really [:)]

Also, I realize already that it would be premature to have something so permanent as a tattoo done at this point when the relationship is not concrete, for anyone who's read my thread about being unsure, don't worry I haven't lost my faculties lol [:D]

NakedGirlScout -> RE: Slave Registry (12/2/2006 3:23:58 AM)

WOW timeoutgurlie I'd have to wonder if my partner had lost his faculties if he mentioned such a thing, especially in a relationship that was still new and unsure. Yes I've seen men and women tattooed with the barcode/numbers thingie and it looks just like you think it would look; like you're produce. LOL

Actually I think it is rather effective when they go up on market to just scan them for current value. ;)

I dont think I could or would wish to be tattooed with a set of numbers and/or a barcode. I do agree that something like a significant date or his name etc at a later date when I felt sure that everything was as solid as it can be. I have a teddy bear on my lower back which is sprouting horns, tail and a pitch fork, this was to represent one ex-master, no name etc just a symbol I look at and know is a reminder of when I was his. Its not for everyone, but at least to future and existing Masters the tattoo isnt plastered with a name and unless I tell them, they do not need to know the significance.

RedSavageSlave -> RE: Slave Registry (12/2/2006 5:28:50 AM)

The slave registry is a site on the internet where people can have themselves "registered" to be either a dom or slave.  I am not exactly sure it "means" anything in any real sense other than it gives you a history...kind of like that thing you can do with a used car LOL...

Personally, I dont think I would want anyone putting this kind of information on me on a website that I had no control over the information going in or coming out. Good luck to you.

SlaveAkasha -> RE: Slave Registry (12/2/2006 5:32:29 AM)

I am registered as a slave where he is talking about.  I did it when I first started in r/l bdsm stuff.  When I got with Master, he did register as owning me, but that's about it.  No way in this world would someone ever tattoo those numbers on me.  I know that to some, those numbers mean a lot so they choose to though.  To me, it's just a random set of numbers that only mean something because they show me as belonging to my wonderful Master.

I would try to get something that means more to you both in your relationship.  I am getting one, but it will only happen once the commitment of marriage has been made.  We have already agreed that it will be something we both can agree on together and nothing less will be accepted.

Kalira -> RE: Slave Registry (12/2/2006 5:38:49 AM)

Personally, I find the slave registry to be a bunch of garbage, but that's just my own opinion. If a person needs a generic number to define who they are, go for it. [&:]

I would much rather Master put a mark on me that actually meant something.

LaMspeach -> RE: Slave Registry (12/2/2006 5:46:31 AM)

Well you know if your don't have the bar code tattooed on you ass it means your NOT  real ... well at least that is what i was told once. Don't worry i am not real either but I've survived.[sm=lol.gif]

All kidding a side. Master marked me with a tattoo that he designed but it is was only after the relationship had grown to a point we were both comfortable that it would be a ltr. I think permanent marks should have a significance to the those involved not just some random number that a computer program choose.

With the being said. I have talked to a few that have the barcode type marks and they explained the reasoning behind it as a form of objectification. They are property to be owned and use as their owner wish. Ok i understand this thought but no barcode or tattoo can give you that feeling it must come from inside.

timeoutgurlie -> RE: Slave Registry (12/2/2006 5:48:18 AM)

I haven't looked at the site yet actually, it doesn't need you to put in real details, does it?  I figured from what he'd said about it, which wasn't much besides he liked the idea lol that it was just a site where you can sign up, like collarme, and then it just would give you a random number [&:]

If it needs a credit card or something else that will use real information...neither of us would be comfortable with that.

I'm on the fence, on the one hand my first reaction was that it sounds silly, it isn't as if I need this to be his slave if that's how it pans out, it's not like a driver's license where you are OBLIGATED to get one if you want to drive.  So, the fact that it has no function makes it seem rather pointless...but on the other hand he said he would enjoy seeing it on my body, that it was permanent, all 'things' have them - sort of that whole property mentality, I can somewhat see where he's going with that.

I'm not intending to do it any time in the near future, and not using the thread to decide, I just wanted to hear from others on what they thought about it.  I've seen a few profiles with this number in them, so I didn't know how widespread it was and got curious [:)]

The few who I have talked to who actually do have this tattooed on themselves pretty much said the same thing. However, I wonder at that lol. I am property, and I sure don't need a general number tattooed on me to state that as such [&:]

timeoutgurlie -> RE: Slave Registry (12/2/2006 5:54:22 AM)

Wow sorry like 5 of you jumped in there while I was typing my previous reply lol

I agree with what you're all saying for the mostpart, that it's a pretty meaningless idea and not worth a thing on its own merit, but if we were sure we would be together a long time in the future with our issues worked out, I would have whatever tattoo he wanted, even if it's a barcode and some numbers...gotta love sweet submission lol

LaMspeach - Is that the design you two chose in your avatar?

I do agree also that the tat should be meaningful to both, my compromise was that we'd use the concept but not go with a website generated number, we'd choose the numbers.  Also agree it's best to get a tat that's generic looking enough it can work on your body even if the relationship doesn't last forever.  Which is why I wouldn't have a name tat until I'm married and plan then to get an artist that can do good portraits, I've alwys thought those were beautiful.

timeoutgurlie -> RE: Slave Registry (12/2/2006 5:55:51 AM)

Also, saying it's silly to me doesn't mean I think it's a dumb idea overall, just a personal preference thing, so no offense to any who have are very serious about their being registered [:)]

mistoferin -> RE: Slave Registry (12/2/2006 6:01:50 AM)

I think that having a number on the site is fine when it is viewed as kind of a cool novelty. Beyond that, I don't see that it really means much.

As for the girls with barcode tattoos....I have seen quite a few, even a close friend has one. If they enjoy it then it serves it purpose. Personally, every time I see one though I think of concentration camps....it's sooooo not for me.

I must admit seeing barcode tattooes with numbers gives me the same image. Though to each their own.

timeoutgurlie -> RE: Slave Registry (12/2/2006 6:09:09 AM)

Maybe that's in the ballpark of what he enjoys about it?  I'm surprised I didn't think to ask him actually...that's strange, I definitely should do that *smacks self in forehead* lol

I actually associate the barcodes with "punks", have seen quite a few with them.  Maybe they were using them for this same purpose and I just never knew?  I'll see them differently from now on [X(]

lateralist1 -> RE: Slave Registry (12/2/2006 6:23:44 AM)

Thankyou for bringing this up as I am curious.
I would rather carve my name on a slaves hide than a number it seems so much more personal to me.
But I can see the need for some slaves to be registered.
However both parties would need to be absolutely sure that this was for life before I would put a mark on anyone that could not easily be removed.
The only thing that would get me to that point would be time. Commitment comes easy to some and very difficult for others.
I think it's easier for me than it would be for a slave.
I can have another slave he or she can only have one Mistress.
So I would have to be very sure that my slave understood the commitment and was ready for it.
It is too easy at the beginning of a relationship to think that it will last.
The reality is sometimes very different.

I think its a cute little thing to do to register on the site.  I did it many years ago and it still shows up on google searches even though I took it down (my relationship didn't change with my owner, it just was a novelty I did on a whim and then it seemed silly).  I wouldn't get those numbers and the barcode tattooed, when it came to the brand we specifically did the initial for his last name, and we've talked about a tattoo symbol that has a particular significance for us.

I have to ask. But why and how would you see the need for a slave to be registered at such a site? Just curious.
