I am new to this lifestyle but have been given a collar from my Master. I know whY i have it and what it means......just how do I get over those feelings that everyone is only looking at my collar out in public. And how do I get over being shy with my collar??? Can anyone help me????

First of all, congratulations! Second, welcome to the forums. :)

You know, when I was pregnant the first time, it absolutely amazed me at how many other pregnant people there were around me. I was quite sure it was an epidemic or something, but in reality, I just noticed the condition because I was actually in it myself and lo' and behold I found out that people have been having babies for just years and years. ::chuckles:: My awareness of pregnancy had changed, not the actual incidences of pregnancy.

You'll get use to it, but right now, it's new, it's different and even if you 'feel' as if everyone is looking at it, they probably are doing the same thing they've always done, but now you are more aware of what's around your neck. Do you find yourself touching it without even thinking it was something you were going to do? Your hands just sort of gravitate up to it and you feel it, think about it? Give yourself some time .. it tends to be a great resource to alleviate shyness. If you just keep it on, pretty soon the problem isn't going to be that you're wearing it, it's that you're going to feel naked if you're not wearing it.

Once again, congratulations to you!

Celeste

Bita - The pregnancy comparison, makes a whole lot of sense, well put!

Daddy'sRed, ownedgirlie & the Rose - Your stories make me feel much, much better about all this, it's likely going to be a fair amount of time before I can get into all of this in the flesh with others, but very much looking forward to it.  Also looking forward to hearing about how the xmas parties go, watch out, I may start a thread lol

Good, TOG...  sometimes it's just knowing that other people have gone before you and "survived" that let's you make that first awkward step of your own seem less scary...  (I know it did for me).
