The bull certainly gets a year in the Chinese zodiac.  It's translated into English as "The Year of the Ox," but the word stands for any bovine--bull, cow, or ox.

So this puzzle was flawed.

(Edited to add: I'd have said the fish would have to be the odd one out, because the others are all mammals.)

The rat is the only one that gets a year in the Chinese zodiac.

Bodhisattvas is the odd one out.  The others refer to elements (earth, water, and fire, to be exact).

My solution was more that the Rat is not represented on the same zodiac as the others are. I wasn't referring to the Chinese zodiac.  Simply the 12 used is astrology. Although your reply works as well.

That's right.

In your puzzle, Monaco is the only one that's not a town in the United States.

Actually, that wasn't what I was going for. I wasn't aware that there was a Corsica in the U.S.

Bummer. i should have gone with all US cities instead of trying to get cute. The "correct" answer was Corsica, because it was marketed as a Chevrolet- all the other names were used by full-sized Chrysler products

Nope, on second thought, cocoa is the only one not in the nightshade family.

Potato is the only one that's not a New-World crop.  Looks like there's more than one solution.

I'm pretty sure potatoes are a New World crop. The Inca grew them, and they were introduced to Europe (originally as ornamental plants!) after contact. Frederick the Great imposed heavy taxes on milling wheat to encourage farmers to grow potatoes instead. I believe I learned all this from Indian Givers by Jack Weatherford, but it's been a while since I read the book, so my command of the details may be off.

This is almost certainly not the answer, but cocoa is the only one that doesn't end with an o.

German, because it's not a Romance language.

Next one...hmm...OK:

tamago
uni
maguro
hamachi

Uni, maguro, and hamachi are fish.

Tamago is sushi made with friend chicken egg.
