Humbug! Put the X back in Xmas!

Solstice is a great reason to party and eat turkey (especially if you missed Thank's Giving).

And there are these excellent brandy filled chocs that are only available at mid winter here. Almost worth enduring Xmas carols for.

And I must admit I do enjoy a well decorated and lit tree in a dark room.

And prezzies.

But other than that... HUMBUG!

I was gonna say it doesn't look like it from the outfits in your pictures, but that would have been cheesy.

Oh well, looks like I said it after all!

As far as the Christmas question goes, i hate what it has become.... As far as a blow job goes... i feel that if you are lucky enough to have someone in your life then you awake them every morning with a wet warm blow job

I dont mind it.  I used to really enjoy it before aliens abducted my parents and left two cretins who believe the dittohead I used to be married to doesnt keep trying to sue me / drag me into court / violate court orders / etc., and want to force me to spend my family holidays with that harridan.

So Christmas for me is a day I stay home and watch videos and call old friends.

Just me, etc.

Technically, December isn't Jesus' birth month (the shepards were in the fields with their flocks at the time He was born - it's winter in December in Israel - more in line with the Southern U.S. States) - it was a convenient place to put a holiday.

But, it is a time to reflect on His message - Peace on Earth, Goodwill Towards Men (yes, that's the old vernacular "Men" includes everyone - don't get caught up in PC, it's the message that matters)

The world would be a better place if we followed His example more - love thy neighbor, don't judge others, peace be to all, do what is right, etc.

So yes, I love Christmas, but I do hate the commercialism and I won't decorate until after Thanksgiving is over.

i am glad i am not the only one who realizes that we celebrate the birth of Christ at the wrong time of year. lol  It can be determined from where in the night sky the shepherds saw the star which led them to Jesus. It is believed based on the information in your statement and my information above that he was actually born in April. However, the Christians HAD to convert the pagans somehow sooo....they decided to hijack Winter Solstice and use it to celebrate the birth of their savior.  Much like today's Halloween. Either way, what's important is the idea of good will towards man and remembering the sacrifice made for our salvation. Okay Bible class is now officially over kiddos!  LOL

i don't care for christmas personally, as 1. i'm not a christian, and 2. loathe materialism, and 3. hate the way that thru christmas, christianity is forced upon us all this time of year, but us non-christians are not supposed to complain about it.

but because every person i care about in life DOES celebrate christmas, i halfheartedly participate for their sake. i absolutely love doing things for people, giving thoughtful gifts, etc., i just wish it wasn't tied to a religion i don't believe in and a custom i don't agree with.

~fast reply~

I love Christmas.  I have always loved Christmas.  Not because of the presents or the materialism, but because of my family.  We would always go to my uncle's house when we were kids, which meant packing up the car and driving 2 1/2 hours, and spending a couple of days with my aunt, uncle and cousins.  On Christmas Eve, all sides of the family and friends as well would come over and we'd have an awesome party, a talent show for the kids, sing Christmas carols - Spanish and English - and when the kids went to bed the adults would exchange gifts.  We always did a "Pick a name from a hat" type of exchange so you bought one gift for one person.  Materialism never came into play.  In the morning we'd wake up from the little ones exclaiming delight at the Christmas tree and my Tito (uncle) would make a mess in his kitchen making churros for all of us.

Awesome times.  We still all get together, but my uncle doesn't make his churros anymore and the loss of some significant people in our lives is apparent.  Still, I look forward to it.  It's not the gifts that make Christams for me, it's the love.

My son was the only child who could tell you what the true meaning of Christmas was when asked by the local newspaper...he got his pic printed in the paper, the reporter told me that she asked over 20 children aged 7 or older.....that is sad.

I voted for Everest, for some reason my family holds opposing views as to what the holidays mean, and i'm kind of tired of having to choose what parts of my family to spend them with.  They are all rather pig headed about who should go to whom...etc.
