LordVelvet -> RE: Bondage Pictures Banned (12/5/2006 6:47:39 AM)

I have been turned down for a picture of a tattoo on MY ribs of a woman in bondage who has clothes on, go figure.

Aine -> RE: Bondage Pictures Banned (12/5/2006 6:50:25 AM)

Even still, with some of the pics I'm sure -all- of us have seen on here, and I've never had any problems, I don't think the people running the site let just any tard off the street approve/disapprove the pics.  They have to be aware of the criteria and the laws involved.

So.....I think that if someone was -really- doing that, that there would be a change in who does do it to people that aren't so casually involved with the site.

Anywho, maybe I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt, but with how strictly they tend to run things, for some reason, I'm pretty doubtful of this occurance.

Does seem kinda strange for a bdsm lifestyle site, now doesnt it! Asses are ok but no asses with rope on them.

farglebargle -> RE: Bondage Pictures Banned (12/5/2006 10:44:49 AM)

When your goal is to keep the Feds from having ANY excuse ( which they WILL use given the chance ) to just seize the servers and shutdown the site, sometimes you need to err on the side of caution.

We all wish we didn't need to fear the Federal Government when we try to express ourselves and freely communicate, but that's life under occupation....

stef -> RE: Bondage Pictures Banned (12/5/2006 2:55:45 PM)

If you were willing to put a million dollars or so into an escrow account to subsidize CM's legal fees should 'The Man' come knocking, maybe they'll consider changing their policy.

I'm giving up, I don't think it's getting through to them fargle.  Good to see you, btw.  Seems like it's been a while since you've been around the boards.

darksdesire -> RE: Bondage Pictures Banned (12/5/2006 5:31:47 PM)

i understand the legal issues.  Still, i don't get why clothed, non bondage pictures are rejected.

Aine -> RE: Bondage Pictures Banned (12/5/2006 5:41:38 PM)

Well, that question is obviously not going to get answered here since it hasn't been yet, so the thing to do in -my- opinion is to contact those who run CM, not spout about it in the boards.

I just don't understand the big hubbub.  In all of my responses here I've tried to muse over what possibly could be the reasons, which have apparently gone unheard.

darksdesire -> RE: Bondage Pictures Banned (12/5/2006 5:55:00 PM)

But i thought the boards were for spouting!

-- Questionable age. (One younger lady I know locally said she had to send a photo of her drivers license to CM to prove she was of age.)
-- Professional photos without proper permissions.
-- Questionable origins of the photos (perhaps the mods had seen the photo before and suspected it was a stolen image?)

Aine -> RE: Bondage Pictures Banned (12/5/2006 5:59:45 PM)

*chuckles*

Indeed, but I meant (for those that didn't get it) when it comes to problems on the other side, those that run the other side should be contacted and every venue looked into before coming here to complain.

And to me, it seems that most haven't bothered to check into it on the other side.  Or to even look up the fact that bondage pics aren't allowed, and that they are doing it because of (federal?) law.

I'd prefer being able to keep this site around and free rather than risk breaking the damned law just to appease a few complaints.  *shrugs*

Aine -> RE: Bondage Pictures Banned (12/5/2006 6:05:22 PM)

Also, very good points.  I've seen a few complaints about pics getting denied because of how young they look.  Heck, sometimes it surprises me that mine got through when I joined because I still get tagged as a 16 year old on occassion.

Also, people who are capable of taking -very- good photos, they have to prove that they aren't just using someone else's photos, etc.

And yes, there are times when the same pics can be found all over the place.  When I was more involved in my old Livejournal account, I'd seen rampant pic stealing.  It's rather ridiculous, to be honest.

Though if it's true that the other side is using volunteers to do the photo approving, then perhaps they need to revamp their way of doing things and get some more mods that they know aren't asshats to do the pic thing rather than random people.

PiercedDaz -> RE: Bondage Pictures Banned (12/5/2006 6:09:18 PM)

This is a big deal in British law at the moment. This is a copy from a national newspaper here.

"A WOMAN whose daughter was killed by a man who was obsessed with violent pornography on the internet won her fight yesterday for a new law that will make possession of such images a criminal offence.
Announcing the move, Vernon Coaker, a Home Office Minister, said that conviction for possessing “violent and extreme pornography” would be punishable by up to three years in jail.
The Home Office is to press ahead with legislation despite a majority of those who were asked whether the law needed to be strengthened saying no (241 respondents said that the law should not be changed, 143 said that it should).
Many of those against the law are afraid that it will criminalise private photographs taken by a husband or wife practising bondage, domination, submission and mastery and sado-masochism. Others fear that it could catch mainstream horror films and will be difficult for the police to enforce.
The Home Office has decided nevertheless to make the possession and viewing of violent images of rape and sexual torture a criminal offence."

Aine -> RE: Bondage Pictures Banned (12/5/2006 6:16:51 PM)

Now if they could just make the distinction between consensual and non-consensual.....more of those that really need to be put away would be.

Unfortunately, without proof of consent or non-consent....they're going to be putting a shitload of consenting adults behind bars and overcrowding the prisons like our problem here with overcrowding because of piddly pot arrests (like, personal use sized amounts compared to actual trafficking).

CandleInTheWind -> RE: Bondage Pictures Banned (12/5/2006 8:15:23 PM)

I have agreat quasi bondage/artistic quasi nudity picture and i tried to post it as my picture...and well I am able to post it on myspace...but not here...go figure!

MstrssScarlet -> RE: Bondage Pictures Banned (12/5/2006 8:42:09 PM)

If you look at the guidlines for posting a picture I believe you will find that genital nudity and any shots featuring bondage cannot be posted.  It's a free site people, and a very good one in my opinion.  Is it so much to ask that we follow their rules while using it?

MasterNdorei -> RE: Bondage Pictures Banned (12/5/2006 11:49:55 PM)

Thanks to everyone who gave their ideas about the possibile reasons bondage pictures are not allowed. i was aware of the rule, just not the reason for it. i do not mean to sound ungreatful for the site, but it does seem odd to me.

i believe the major differences between this and some other sites that allow all kinds of pictures is that they are paid membership sites, though the pictures are available without paying. That seems strange to me too.

As someone mentioned, i too noticed a difference in the rules that came about 6-9 months or so ago. The bondage pictures that are posted are on profiles are for people that date back before the changes.

i was just hoping that Collarme had explained it to someone at some point, because they never answered my questions directly.

Thanks to everyone who responded.

MstrssPassion -> RE: Bondage Pictures Banned (12/6/2006 4:45:12 AM)

I offered you the best explaination you are will get but maybe my reply (#13 in this thread) was trampled.

Section 18 U.S.C. § 2257
(you can search this within the forum archive here, it was discussed)

&

Read this cross-post from the National Coalition for Sexual Freedom found here:
http://www.collarchat.com/m_185999/tm.htm

The site moved to restrict images right about the time 2257 was the hot button topic but if you look at both issues it is easy to see that those who ran this site wanted to play it safe. I removed photos from albums of groups I own & placed restrictions on the ones that members could place as well. Why let something like a pic ruin a good thing?

I really don't know what the problem is... no one is stopping you from sharing your bondage pics, they just aren't going to host them for you.

DianeB269 -> RE: Bondage Pictures Banned (12/6/2006 4:26:39 PM)

A bondage site should allow bondage pics. I've tried to post pics in my profiles here many times with no luck.

Aine -> RE: Bondage Pictures Banned (12/6/2006 4:34:11 PM)

Did you even read any of the posts? Dismissing the law....geeeeenerally isn't a good idea.  But maybe that's just me.

And it's not -just- a bondage site.  It's BDSM.  They don't allow pics of sadism/masochism either, yet no one seems to effin complain about that.  Yeesh...y'all want bondage pics, go to a porn site lol
