candystripper -> Panel Recommends Diplomacy & Pull Out in Iraq (12/6/2006 7:02:37 AM)

A Panel commissioned to study the situation in Iraq concluded we are losing the war and it is polarising people in the US.  They urged a step up in diplomacy and a pull out of most combat troops by 2008.  The Shrub offered to give these recommendations serious consideration.

Call me cynical, but I have a hard time believing that Bush will abandon the aims of the PNAC and leave Iraq. There are over a dozen permanent military bases being built there....

Lordandmaster -> RE: Panel Recommends Diplomacy & Pull Out in Iraq (12/6/2006 9:32:31 AM)

I thought pulling out of Iraq wasn't a "solution."

Still waitin' for a "solution"...

domiguy -> RE: Panel Recommends Diplomacy & Pull Out in Iraq (12/6/2006 9:41:52 AM)

Invading wasn't the solution...pulling out isn't the solution....staying isn't the solution...Three sects of people fighting for centuries...lets set aside our differences and make peace 'cause the U.S. wants it....good luck.

A few thousand soldiers dead, tens of thousands wounded. Hundred of thousands of Iraqi's dead and wounded.

All gone, soon forgotten...a memorial will be erected...and for what....gone,wasted.

"pass the sugar please, oh, and I like my eggs sunny side up."

toservez -> RE: Panel Recommends Diplomacy & Pull Out in Iraq (12/6/2006 12:27:55 PM)

At this point Bush doing something different, fully admitting that something he has made a decision on is not working and having anyone outside of his inner circle decide something for him, I have to take the view of I will only believe it when I actually see it. Anything else is just hot air.

One thing though I would certainly bet my condo on, Bush will not do diplomacy. I am not sure he even knows what that word means.

such a waste waste of lives, time ,money .and all for what ??? what was acomplished .even the people who are in a position where they pretty much need to agree with bush cant talk there selves out of the truth.

Chaingang -> RE: Panel Recommends Diplomacy & Pull Out in Iraq (12/6/2006 12:46:41 PM)

toservez has it right. It's all hot air for now. In any case, is there some reason we should stay until 2008? Isn't that when Shrub will leave the white house? Coincidence? I think not...they just want to maximize profits before Shrub leaves the CEO chair of the U.S. The plan has always been to loot like crazed motherfuckers and then float away on golden parachutes. Why U.S. citizens keep falling for this tactic from their leaders astounds anyone paying even semi-close attention.

dorsaisgirl1 -> RE: Panel Recommends Diplomacy & Pull Out in Iraq (12/6/2006 1:13:13 PM)

im sorry if i offend anyone but it just makes me sick how many people have not only fallen for the bull shit george bush has been shoveling but will actuly go tooth and nail to defened the sob who has been fist fucking us all since he took office .i tottaly agree with chaingang

domiguy -> RE: Panel Recommends Diplomacy & Pull Out in Iraq (12/6/2006 2:01:36 PM)

Yep we all agree he is a turd....Most Americans don't care 'cause they are not the ones dying...They would gladly sacrifice their own...(children of other lessor folks) as well as the insignificant others to keep gas at $2.00 a gallon.

How do we handle being force fed and daily fist fucked using only comet as a lubricant?  Please! On a BDSM website? A country of subs....piss on us, fist us, have us all fuck a dog, nipple clamps draped across the country hanging from L.A. to N.Y. We are brain dead...

and oh by the way, we are also an easily distracted lot...had something important more to say but a new episode of LOST is about to start...lost my train of thought..."Is it going to snow tomorrow?"

"Oh my god!,  A plane blew up killing all 247 passengers aboard...please pass the butter."

MasterKalif -> RE: Panel Recommends Diplomacy & Pull Out in Iraq (12/6/2006 3:18:37 PM)

the mistake was to go in Iraq in the first place....now its easy to say oh "we can pull out"....but is not easy to disentagle oneself from such a massive mess....which will create an even worse scenario allowing Iran-backed Islamic radicals to take control if not allow an all out civil war in Iraq (which one can argue is already taking place, but there is some deterrent by the US army)....no sir, to pull out now is a mistake even if it is senseless.....hence the real questioning should have come way back in 2003 whether it even made sense to get into a quagmire like that, but at the time Congress republicans and democrats alike believed all the BS and gave Bush the "ok"...except for some brave smart souls.

The short term solution (if it can be called that, more like saving face) is to train a ruthless Iraqi "nationalist" army, pro-american in its orientation and train elite officers and even encourage them to be in charge of the country, and enforce the national security idea in their minds....meaning that lawlessness is the most important problem, that democracy can come later, once the country has been forcibly "pacified"...that is the only way. Once that nationalist army has been in place, have a ceremony pull out wish that Iraqi army good luck and support them from the US for a period of about a decade. It is a sad scenario, but better than having an all out civil war, or a fundamentalist dictatorship a-la-Iran style, and will make the sacrifices made in Iraq until now somewhat worthwhile.

Diplomacy never works.
That's what they always say when they realize they fucked up Big Time!
Who would they diplomize with anyway? The tens of thousands of guys shooting things up?
We got what Bush wanted, Saddam.
"Mission Accomplished."
What is there to "win" anyway?
And why should U.S. Taxpayers pay to rebuild Iraq for whatever oil companies are going to make Trillions of dollars there?
Bush is just pissed that it won't be Exxon/Mobil.

MasterKalif -> RE: Panel Recommends Diplomacy & Pull Out in Iraq (12/6/2006 3:40:59 PM)

well popeye1250, diplomacy can work when you have two sides that are willing to understand their differenced and discuss them to see if they can come to an agreement, depending on the situation....diplomacy also works when a strong military can be used to back up your words.....in the case of Iraq you are correct, diplomacy cannot work, and who would you have diplomatic talks with? the crazy Al-Sadr and his army of faithfuls or one of the 200 + terrorists and jihadists on there or perhaps the remnants of Saddam's old guard?

In terms of rebuilding, this should be forgotten, no country can be rebuilt when an all out civil war is looming in the background, or when the country is not pacified....the oil companies should have the last priority in anything in this case, the US in order to save face over intervening in the first case needs to just about make sure there is a semblance of stability and then pull out, using the idea I proposed earlier, in terms of a nationalist army (with pro-American views) who can be pushed to take charge.

You mean God doesn't love America?  I thought we were supposed to win because we had more faith than they do.

domiguy -> RE: Panel Recommends Diplomacy & Pull Out in Iraq (12/6/2006 4:54:16 PM)

Form a "nationalsit" army? and just who is going to man this army? Not  the people from the region...they hate...Hate each other. They will never work as a cohesive unit. Perhaps mercenaries with non muslim ties...good luck with that one...it is lost.  It was never won. It was never even close.

Erect your monument so the dead won't feel so used.  Apologize for the hundreds of thousands of Iraqi's dead and wounded or don't; they never mattered anyway.  And leave.

Apologize to the 9/11 families as well as those killed in Oklahoma...It was a few crazed individuals there was really nothing that we could have done.  Maybe we should have invaded  Michigan and got those militia pricks.

Coffee is brewing, read the morning paper, watch some t.v., piss on or fist a woman or two(yawn)...you'll feel better.

Blame Mexicans crossing the border looking to make a piss poor wage for your problems...call them criminals.

Put on re-runs of I Love Lucy,or the Cosby Show, remember a time when things were good. When white folks were not so scared, before they started blaming everything and everyone for the problems in their lives.

Don't worry there's a football game this Sunday. Relax.

Pour yourself a drink...God bless America!  Feel better already, don't cha....atta boy.

The war...wait "Batman Returns" is on...get back to you later.

Out.

I wouldn't say that, brother. Putin is calling for us all to come to the table - Syria, Palestine, Iran, Lebanon, China, GB, France, Israel, Russia and our country. I think we all need to get together, talk and make some concessions. I'm tired of hearing about a few Marines and soldiers being picked off every day and then reading their parents, brothers & sisters, and friends sad comments through out
