As a child, I don't think there was any type of candy I would have turned down (and I have the teeth to prove it) but some My favorites were::
  • Sweet tarts
  • Kit Kat bars
  • Red licorice
  • Ice Cubes (square chocolate candies)
  • Nestle's Crunch Bars

I was a total candy junkie too as a kid -- I'm still a sweets freak. :)

Some of my favorites when I was little:
  • Slo-poke suckers
  • Charleston Chew (vanilla, frozen and shattered into little pieces)
  • Swedish Fish
  • Lik-m-Aid - the powder that came with a dip stick you could eat
  • Jujubees
  • BB Bats
  • Chiclet's
  • That gum that looked like gold nuggets in a little bag
Mmmmmmmm....  now I really want a frozen Charleston Chew!

Does anyone remember a candy..that might have only been in the Western U.S...that was called  the 7-Up bar that had seven sections covered in chocolate...one was coconut, one was caramel, one was this jelly candy thing, one was cherry, brazil nut, maple flavor, fudge?

Yup....I remember 'em. I used to love those! I believe it is nestle that still makes a version of it....I found them this year in Indiana....but they only have three or four different fillings.

Pixie Sticks! and Necco Wafers... my newest addiction.

And they still make zero bars, I know they sold them at my store for a while.

I used to like those lil wax bottles that came in a six pack w/ a few drops of colored/flavored water, LOL, candy necklaces & cigarettes, sugar babies & daddies, jelly bellies (buttered popcorn, jalapeno), almond m&m's, hersey's peppermint candy kisses.
I used to have a thing for zero candy bars, I also like those rafaello coconut candies.

I never cared for spice drops & necco wafers though, lol.

LOL!

My favorite uncommon candy was Bun, particularly Maple Bun. The candy was considered a step above others. Their price was double other candies and their shape (round candy in a square package) didn't fit vending machines which may have led to their demise.

Buns were milk chocolate combining peanuts with a maple (or vanilla or caramel) center and goooood.

I seem to recall Bun was made by the Wayne Candy Company in Fort Wayne, Indiana and the last time I saw them was when Drug Emporium and Pharmor were still alive.

Damn... you beat me to it. All I can do here is be a dittohead. And yes... maple was my favorite too!

Oh well... I haven't seen a Bun Bar for at least 25 years now... and probably 30.

In comparison, I don't eat candy much these days. However, my current favorite is Trader Joe's organic truffles. They are only available during the holiday season... so stock up kiddies! ...

Tootsie rolls always make me cough.
Any one remember Fruit Stripe gum?
I think they used a zebra on the packaging.
Do they still make that?
