OK.  A pet peeve of mine is when others get so stuck on minor grammatical errors that they can't see the person, but only the error. Probably every one of us has made grammatical errors, and I'm pretty sure it's not a very realistic reflection on our value as a person/dominant/submissive.

Yes, but if you're going to be a hobbyist or lifestyler in a particular thing, then at least be able to sound intelligent to others within and outside of it.  It's common courtesy.

I think my sensitivity to this discussion is due to the fact that I've known some very intelligent and verbally articulate people who have a bit of a disability when it comes to the written word.  They simply don't have the same written skills as others.  So many people have learning disabilities in written expression.  I've seen posts that are so awkward with run on sentences, multiple ideas in one sentence, misspellings.  etc.  I don't know.  I've sung in choirs much of my life, and invariably there are those in a choir who sing off key.  I've always been of the belief that they should be invited to sing anyway.

Notice that no one here is smacking on people's spelling errors or their dyslexic
posts.  We're talking about people who are perfectly capable of functioning in society sounding like a complete dope because they're using internetisms or something else that makes them sound imbecillic.

" What are you seeking" or any variation there of.
I have never had this question asked, but it didn't actually mean, tell me about your kink in detail. And a few pics would be appreciated.

I pretty much won't even entertain a conversation with some one who asks me this.

What I am seeking is a way to retire early with plenty of money to travel 9 months of the year.

But for me, who is seeking, it makes perfect sense to ask me that.

Maybe he used http://www.dictionary.com (Random House unabridged dictionary), they are both there.

consesual is there?

I use this one, I like it for all of the extra stuff:
http://www.thefreedictionary.com/

He corrected his typo -- it now reads conse(n)sual and consentual.

darksdesire -> RE: Annoying things BDSM'ers say (12/10/2006 5:58:57 PM)

lol.  ok.  Is BDSM'ers a word?

darksdesire -> RE: Annoying things BDSM'ers say (12/10/2006 6:10:27 PM)

for that matter, what about "lol".  I use it all the time and get rather annoyed with myself.

timeoutgurlie -> RE: Annoying things BDSM'ers say (12/10/2006 6:14:32 PM)

The words "true"and/or "real" seem to have a whole other meaning around here.

Do have to agree on the dominate usage, makes my skin crawl just slightly when I read it as well.

~Fast Reply~

I hate it when people say "I'm a dominate." I've fussed at 'nillas for that...

I'm kinda funky about wording. "What do you seek"  conjures up a mental image of a tall thin pale woman roaming the Moors on a misty night. Emily Bronte-ish.
< shrugs >

And to be perfectly honest I have never had that particular question asked of me in real life, only on line. I think I associate the word seek with MiLord and MiLady type talk, and that just isn't me. Works well for others tho.[:)]

Correct me if I'm wrong (talkin to you, Lam) but BDSM'er would have something to do with possessive.  Should it not, if anything, be BDSMer?

Also, about consesual, consentual, evensual, and other things, I actually learned something today.  Thanks!

What pisses me off?  Being too tired to type.

Other than that, "Community," and "Lifestyle."  The only thing that  binds us together is a desire to get whipped.  Unless you're a Dom.  Or a service sub.  SO let's call it D/s.  Unless you're a bottom, or a top.  Fine.  S/m.  Not if you're not into pain.  BDSM?  Bondage, discipline, Domination, submission, sadism, masochism.  There we go.  Seems about as all-encompassing as the "Outdoor lifestyle."

People defining themselves by their love of foot worship, or toilet slavery, and wanting (to be) a 24/7 slave.  Yanno, that might get boring after 3 hours......

"What are you into?"  Well, normally pants and a shirt, about half my day a house, otherwise other buildings, sometimes I am mostly outto, for example lunch.

Yours,

benji

Edited because I never thought it could be double double "S"

gooddogbenji -> RE: Annoying things BDSM'ers say (12/10/2006 6:52:52 PM)

I actually just searched my history, apparently I do know how to spell consentual.  I just never thought about it, and never thought much of either spelling.

I have 8 results for consensual, 5 for consentual.

Go benji, it's your birthday....

Yours,

benji

SmokingGun82 -> RE: Annoying things BDSM'ers say (12/10/2006 8:10:56 PM)

I just read a few more profiles, and noticed a disturbing trend of writing "spelling/capitalization/grammar doesn't matter in real life!" Ok, so it's usually written as "Spell/capsing/gramar don't matter RL!!!!" but still... yes, yes it does. Submit a resume with typos all over it and see if you get hired.

I think I almost see the idea behind it- talking and typing ARE different... but then SAY that. And then I can complain about something entirely different :)

Lordandmaster -> RE: Annoying things BDSM'ers say (12/10/2006 9:15:58 PM)

I just followed the OP's usage.  The apostrophe IS sometimes used when a lower-case letter follows a capital letter, as in "On my report card, I got three A's, two B's, four C's."  Some grammar books deride that; others tolerate it.  Shrug.

I also hate the word "lifestyle."  I agree with whoever mentioned that one.

Adding:

"very bi"
and
"sis" or "sissy" in polyamory

Well, some fool pissed and moaned about "lifestyle" so I had to use something else.  I'd be happy to use another word if you'd like to suggest it.  I surely don't want to go calling the masses by something "unacceptable".....lords no.

And no, you're not getting a spanking. Rather, you've got a bar of soap waiting for the lie!

Lordandmaster -> RE: Annoying things BDSM'ers say (12/10/2006 9:21:05 PM)

Yeah, if people dislike something you dislike too, it's OK.  If they dislike something you don't dislike, then they're fools.

You don't think that attitude is a little childish?

Is that like "sorta pregnant?"

darksdesire -> RE: Annoying things BDSM'ers say (12/10/2006 9:38:58 PM)

ah,  BDSM'ers is fine.  I kind of like it actually.    Finding the right lingo to please everyone is impossible.  That was actually the point I was making.
