But we are talking forms of political economy, so a defintion (from a recognized source) of a form of political economy can not be a non sequitur.  You are simply misusing the word to try to refute her point.

scrap this misread the post LOL

On second thought may as well reitterate y previous post since this one would otherwise have been a wasted window:

My first reaction to that was intersting, i clicked on your profile to see if you were an american. LOL  Obviously you disagree, maybe worth a post in the terror thread.   As for power, power has many faces and power is taken, not given.

I'm not sure that you can say unequivocally that "power is taken".  Power can be "taken", but it can also be earned, and it can also be given.

Depending, of course, on your defintions of all those things, especially "power'.

a side note thought... since aj, who did the first set of videos also "predicted" that the bush administration would do something horrific and specifically stated on video, even calling out the wtc by name as a probable target i am guessing several weeks to several months before the actual occurance exactly why is it that you find his work uninteresting to the extent that it was not worth your time to watch?

Since we are now in iraq chasing the oil i think it is a perfect example of  the realities capitalism.

You've also announced that Plato doubted the viability of a democracy, but I'm not sure why you feel that is relevant as you've clearly stated that the United States is not a democracy and no vestiges of democracy remain.

What rationale are you looking for?

Apparently you misunderstand me.

A Democracy involves all citizens engaged in all decisions made.  The approach used by the founding fathers was to send elected individuals to give the votes of their constituency.

Plato indicated that one of the dangers of Democracy because of the danger of it being co-opted by unscrupulous people.

The idea of "doubting the validity of Democracy (noun)" would be similar to doubting the validity of a car (noun)"  I imagine Plato was more well versed on logical argumentation to do such a thing.

I don't typically have problems with reading comprehension, but if I've misunderstood the following quote, then perhaps you'll explain what you really meant.

The evidence abounds as to the democratic principles which were originally set up in this country in the original Bill of Rights have been systematically dismantled by this Government, almost from it's inception.

And as for this...

That's okay luckydog1... because my comment where I included the definitions was in response to his inferring that the President didn't know what a democracy was, I'm comfortable that it was perfectly appropriate.

FirmhandKY -> RE: Failure of the world-wide capitalist system ... kinda. (12/26/2006 9:29:23 PM)

Incorrect.

Your entire post 456 was nothing more than an attempted slur. An "attack on the messenger".  The very type of slur that you claim others are making.

I simply pointed that out.

This makes you uncomfortable. But I'm not responsible for your emotional state.  Nor your rhetorical position.  You are.

I am not misusing her words to prove a point.  Democracy is not a political economy by any definition I have ever read.

Real,

I'm a bit confused about what we are talking about.  Would you mind restating it to clarify it for me?

Is it a discussion about power?

Is it a discussion about theories that Bush et al planned 9/11 for some reason (i.e. it was a "Black Flag Op"?)

Is it why I am not real interested in watching the other videos?

Yes, I understood that.  The United States was not set up as a democracy.  What I don't understand is why you think Plato's opinions on democracy are relevant when we agree that the US is not and never was a democracy.

Certainly.

It has to do with the small sentence in the bottom right of your post.  You know, the one that says:

(in reply to FirmhandKY)

Thats why I assumed you were talking to me, along with the fact that you are a long time poster, and then didn't put a "Fast Reply" or "FR" in at the top of your post.

Kinda seems common-sensical to me.

Now, if you'd like to apologize for the misunderstanding and tell me that you weren't talking about me at all, I'd certainly take your word for it.

edited to add:

Oh, yes, and you quoted an entire earlier post of mine in your message as well.

Three reasons, then.

We do?

I made have certainly made that comment, but I am too tired and generally bored with this thread to go and quote your earlier assertions that the United States is a democracy.

So now I am further puzzled by the logical framework and approach to rhetoric that you employ.

Peace out

I see.  Then perhaps the Bill of Rights should have been the subject of the sentence... for example, "Evidence abounds that the Bill of Rights, founded on democratic principles, has been systematically dismantled by this Government, almost from it's inception."

Is that what you meant?

And yes, I do understand the difference between the Bill of Rights and the political structure of democracy, but thank you.

Kinda like your comments about "half formed" ideas were not in relation to my posts even though you started that post with "julia", at least according to your submissive who asserted I wrongly assumed it was in relation to me... too damn funny

Whether or not it is common-sensical (did Monkeyboy subliminate that word?)
to you, I would be interested if you could find any post I have made on Collarme where I stated that it was a FR or Fast Reply.  This is not something I am in the habit of doing.

I personally doubt the credulity of your rationale, but if it works for you...
