Addition: Master just said its my fault he doesn't wear his boots, cause he told me to buy a shoe horn so he can get them off easier and I haven't done it...bad slave.

Boots have too many laces - bootlaces are one of the main reasons to have subs. I mean.. they're already in place to handle the booting and debooting for one :)

This is true for many, but others have had great success with camo BDUs, white t-shirts, and black fleece jackets...brings the girls to their knees in seconds flat. A green Level (3) baseball cap completes the ensemble.

He owns a bunch of leather jackets - not because they're domly, but because he likes them. He takes them off and hangs them up when we're at events. Beyond that, he owns no leather pants, chaps, vests, or anything like that. He has numerous hats - some leather, some gimme caps, some dress hats. (Think the 1940s). He wears nothing that he pins things on.

He wears a lot of black, although I've never seen him in a pair of black jeans. He wears it because it looks good on him, not because it's something "fetishy" although it does fit that bill too. Black suits, black shirts, slacks and a black tie when he wears one.

I wear all black. I think I have one leather skirt. I never wear it. I have one leather jacket that I hang up when I attend events - unless I'm cold, and then I keep wearing it.

We shoot for elegance rather than fetish.

I think we look good together - but then, I'm biased, cause I think he looks good all the time..

What a great thread for the newbie!   I know several, strong, well-known Doms who, as often or not, wear tennis shoes (blech), shorts and a t-shirt or, worse yet, a Hawaiian shirt to the dungeon!  Personally, I don’t think it does a THING for their ‘image’…but (oddly) they don’t care!  LOL   I am not a fan of those huge, ugly tennis shoes EVER!  Well, except when participating in sports.  Overlarge t-shirts with slogans or advertising on them are also an anathema for me.  Jeans that can stand in a corner by themselves outta be washed…in my book.   I prefer clean jeans or Dockers, real shoes or boots, and big-boy shirts that button-down…or perhaps a pull-over sweater that fits.  Yummmmm    If we’re in the dungeon, a leather vest is a good idea…as most the guys I play with are also whip-throwers…and not at all interested in marking up their own backs!  LOL   Leather pants are sexy as hell…as long as they fit the man.  Baggy or low-slung leathers look dorky to me.  And…he outta be in boots if he’s wearing leather pants…IMHO.   Chaps are also hot to me; but on a Dom, he needs to be in jeans underneath the leather.  A Dom with his bare-butt hanging out looks too much like a boi, for me.  (but perhaps I’m an odd duck…)   Above all, be CLEAN!  Why is it I see so many people (Doms and subs alike) in stained, unkempt cloths?  Ugg!

My former Dominant wore a plethora of different looks. He was a peacock and a fashionista. < positive attributes for me>.
I never had any trouble ascertaining his Dominance, the only " look" I needed to re enforce it was the look in his eyes.

I'm with Julia on jeans and a white tee shirt or white dress shirt. Makes me melt and get all squishy.

All your friend means is that you are not dressing as to THEIR OPINION of what Domley is.    Just pat them on the head and say "thanks for the info" :)

But Ron, you'll have to train a new one every few months, because we all know that fashionable slaves change with the seasons.

Dear MrrPete, Ladies and Gentlemen;

I really appreciate a gentleman who shows his ethnic pride, especially when in the etiquette and or protocols of that attire.

I also am keen on the fine detail about the feather in the bonnet, so I do thank you for adding that to the post; as it is an authorized honor to wear the feather.  But, Aye the sprig of heather is Scotland.

And, I will say that being "Regimental" is very much the attraction to the entire man.

Respectfully submitted with fond memories,
Lady Hugs

Dear MsBearlee, Ladies and Gentlemen;

I do agree with your post indeed.

In regard to the leather vest and throwing whips; it is not only to keep the whip off the dominant's back but; it also gives resistance to the leather whip, be it flogger and or single tail; when it drags off the shoulder on a "West coast style" of single tailing strokes and send and return motions off the dominant's body.  I showed a novice dominant with and without a leather vest; to which the "WOW" came out of their mouth as to the difference in the quality of the stroke and the movement.

As a Dominant, my slave's reputation is on the line as well, as it has to deal with my attire.  Some may be harsh on the slave, if I come to a party, event and or presentation in less than clean, neat and maintained attire be it leather and or formal gowns, evening gloves, clutch and mink.  Although I can do as I wish attire wise, I also must consider the judgement of the peers in my rank as well as the slave's ranks.  If soiled or ratty looking, they will think my slave is dreadful and isn't doing their duty.  Really is, a matter of reflecting off one another.  My slave is a reflection of me as I am a reflection of my slave.

Respectfully submitted for consideration,
Lady Hugs

Suit and tie..an expensive one. I loathe the leather look. It is just too "bikey" for me. I like the white collar professional look.

A friend of mine recently suggested I don't dress "domly" (her word, not mine) enough. For the record, there is roughly a zero percent chance I will ever change my dressing habits... but the comment DID make me wonder: What exactly do you picture as dressing "domly"?

Curiousity and all.

I don't really have a preference for clothes on a Dom, that said however I am not attracted to "office types" or "country club look" in the first place, If I started talking to someone that dressed in that style and we clicked then their style would be jsut another part of them, however the likelyhood of us getting talking in the first place is a lot lower than if they were my *type* So to speak.
I prefer to go for the Goth/Punk/Cyber/Alternative look in men and have to admit I do like a man in black leather, though my Dom never wears it, He's normally found in cyber style trousers and a T shirt, and chunky trainers whereas I'm the one that goes in for the fet wear, leather steel boned corsets, PVC, Latex I am addicted to clothes, at an event his look will be so laid back it's horizontal and mine will be very high heels or chunky mary janes, a very flouncy girly skirt and a corset.
So I would say whilst clothes can project a certain image, his sense of Domlyness as it were is nothing to do with the clothes, rather in who he is, He just has an aura of it so to speak.

I am obviously aware of certain types of clothing, that portray domliness in this lifestyle.
But i dont have them in my relationship.

He dresses well, has good taste in clothes, is clean and tidy. What more could i ask eh?

FOR A LITTLE EYE CANDY! that's what.

Why is it, that i am willing to risk my dignity and self esteem, by going out on the edge and wearing some hideous outfit coz it gives him a stiffy, but ask him to don a pair of pale blue jeans and walk around with his back on display and he baulks at the idea! jesus. D/s sucks!

But seriously, were i to come home one day, and miracle of miracles, he granted my deepest visual sexual attire, id be so hot, he could only ever stand to gain in that situation. Yet, no, his vulnerable pride, wont allow him to take such steps. Foolish i call it. A lose lose situation.

Just yesterday, whilst we were in a camping shop, i saw my version of the very best eye candy ever. I just gawped at this guy and his attire. I was seriously weak at the knees. Yet my own Dom can not grant me that? madness. Got a little put out at my diverted attention to boot? I ask you? guys are fools at times.

That is exactly what she meant, and more than that it was a commentary that, that particular day, my attire was quite disheveled, as I'd spent sixty hours in the office in the last three days. But it inspired a question that's gotten a lot of interesting replies, so I suppose she does deserve thanks :)

my personal pref is that whatever is worn compliment their body style.  Hubby /Mister is a jock type, and He never looks so hot as in a pair of jeans, football jersey, and standing in that wide stance, arms folded, looking kind of primed for action.

Master, on the other hand, is decidely not jock material, and looks great in His dockers, polo type shirt thingie, and leather vest.  Although i loathe leather, it fits the whip in hand look to a tee.

No matter what they wear, i need to see some flash of Indianna Jones in there.   Yum.

Master is Master no matter what he wears.  I have seen him in a suit and tie, Casual business dress and jeans and a shirt. It  his i guess the word is "Presence" that announces he is a Dom.  I personally like it when Master wears nothing at all.
