I personally do not like the trend I'm seeing on this message board. To this point, it has been people who actually have something to contribute. Ideas and questions have been debated, mostly in a rational manner. This was a valuable forum because of such. I'm currently looking for a new place to post due to the influx of people who are treating this forum a game and personal aggrandizement tool. Forums aren't games, personal ego stroke venues, toys or flame factories. I'm sad to see this forum devolving into such.

Beach,

If you leave, the morons will follow. Don't let the morons drive you out of here.

My way of dealing with this is:
1) Posting topics that are worthwhile to discuss
2) Putting the morons on ignore

Stick around. Like cockroaches, if you don't feed them, they will die.

Exactly.

This is still a valuable resource and can only ceases to be one if you choose to let it. There will always be disruptive influences here but running away from them is not the answer. Ignore the cockroaches. Denying them their audience is the quickest and most effective way to kill them. When good posters leave, the cockroaches win.

Make a choice, take a stand.

While i agree with You, Ms Beach, that the trend of posts seem to be getting more abusive...as evidenced by Perverta3, Joren, and others...i feel there is still value here...and hopefully You'll hang around for awhile...though i must say, the boards are starting to look like the chat rooms on AOL where snerts do all they can to disrupt things...i wonder if there's anything collarme is willing to do about that.

Beach Mystress,

Please do not leave on account of such persons, you are much too valuable to lose. I simply ignore certain people on this site and will continue to do so until I am given a reason not to. I do hope that you decide to stay, you will be greatly missed if you leave.

I've made myself a promise that online is to be a source of only enjoyment and knowledge for me. I'm not here to fight battles or "win" over the bad guys. When a place becomes more of a headache than a joy, I'll find something new. This is my personal rule that I've been following for many years. Of course there is always the "new person" curve when you switch sites, but I tend to have short ones, due to the fact that most of my posts are respectful and informative. Since I'm quick to fit in just about anywhere, I'll not fight to stay on a sinking ship. I really have enjoyed this board. In the past, any forum that has had this type of people invade it has become a travesty. Prior to this, even the people I am not "fond" of on this site have my respect. They have offered actual content and knowledge, even if I didn't agree with what was being said. I don't have to like what is being said, but it needs to be relevant, mature and presented in a somewhat respectful manner. This week, that is becoming a thing of the past. I'll be here about another 24 to 48 hours to see if things settle out. I'm not willing to just abandon the site out of hand since it has a great core group, but after that, I may find somewhere else to interact.

I understand your position and I respect it, but you will still be greatly missed.

And with all of the personal attacks you have been getting I can imagine that it isn't fun any more. I would be getting ready to pack up too.
And if all of the people that I look to for real advice leave, I may have to find a new home as well.

Maybe we should start a poll on who should really leave these forums.

Beach Mystress,
If you decide to leave will you tell me where you go? I think that I may follow if the trend continues.

I guess I am somewhat at a loss having joined recently..and even more recently started to frequent the forum boards. I would suspect that these are the same as I have seen in other "communities" and sites, there are always a few who seem to think that flaming or badmouthing someone elses opinion is their god given right for entertainment. But from what I have seen and read there is a substantial amount of good discussions going on, sure you have to sort and sift, but they are there none the less. With the amount of players and "wanna-bes that never will be" out there, I am certain that any "net" accessible message board will always be doomed to have the occasional a**hole posting, but I have found that persistence wins out...hang in there and you will see names change but the brunt of the R/L crowd will still be standing in the end. It's similar to a chat room, if you want to really clear the room of the wannabes, simply bring up edge play or ginger root (weg) and watch the gates open...lol. Personally..I'm staying because I like the site and the same problems are everywhere.

I think that it is more that Beach Mystress is being personally attacked (please correct me if I am wrong) and it didn't used to be like this. I used to love reading the boards, but now I wonder if it is worth my time to sift all this garbage to get to something useful.

Being really new, you don't know how inviting the forums were prior to a week or so ago. Now there are a few people who are legends in their own minds who can't seem to post a civil post. Everything has to be "in your face rude" for them. It just gets old fast. They are outstanding in their fields.. too bad the fields are nothing but their own delusions of grandeur.

I must agree. I've tried to be open about what might be really going on here but it's starting to look like it's only a really bad lounge act.

However, I'm staying here because I've actually developed an immunity against this particular bug.

BTW, Shayna...I like the tat. Haven't I seen it before somewhere?

I think all of these new threads that aren't bdsm related, including this one, should be in the off topic forum, then those of us who don't want to weed through them can just skip that forum. I hope all of you regulars that are talking about leaving will reconsider.

Beach,
I think this is not only a legitimate, but correct response to recent events. There has been much heated debate on this site. Never before has any subject denigrated to the point of many in the past week. A pseudo self identified 'doctor', a 'lawyer', who feels that by challenging others to challenge him generates legitimacy, and of course the eye of the storm who in the self loathing of her existence, needs to brag about meaningless, and impossible to validate accomplishments.

Sure leaving is the obvious and easy path. Considering it myself though I recalled where we came from, the Yahoo forums. There, under the reign of dictatorships, some benevolent, most not, it took weeks of perusing, among many group memberships before finally reading something warranting comment or reply. Then, the posting/response times made dialog similar to having a European pen pal during colonial days. We don't want to go back to that. We enjoy this site and the people we've met in person because of it.

But what to do? The 'block' button isn't enough. It seems that there were many good, interesting threads posted a short time back, that got lost due to all the flame wars. Blocking only stops you from seeing the offensive poster - it doesn't function to make the threads you want to see any easier to access. There is also the psychological aspect. As many have said, they come here for fun and education as well as information.

I'd rather work an attempt at corrective action. I hope you'll consider joining the effort. The recent Mod activity indicates a concerted effort to enforce the rules. Maybe they haven't gone 'nuclear' as I would, but lets not start another political discussion. Infection, viruses, and other diseases need opportunity. CollarMe, was susceptible. One Mod was on vacation, another left just about the time all this started. The ranks are reforming. As you would counsel any newbie submissive - TRUST. We think the administration of CollarMe has earned that.

I would really be terribly sad to see you leave BeachMystress, because it is your voice and voices like yours that make this form what it is. I have only been here for a little while, but I have found this forum to be unique and refreshing in the level of maturity that, up until now has been the prevailing mindset here.

I would like to see that mindset remain.
