BTW…Your profile is absolutely delightful! I’m a 5th-generation Californian and spent time visiting my grandfather in the (tri-city) area of Trona/Argus/Westend. Barstow feels like a neighbor!

Actually, all the cop has to do, after pulling the suspicious vehical over, is what he usually does: walk up to the window and ask the driver, "how you doing today?" if the driver responds, "groovey man," well...

This is close to how a friend of mine got busted. When the cop asked him how he was doing, he burst out laughing and said, "oh man, I'm so fucking stoned!"

Brandy is a distilled spirit so you are out of luck on that one also. I would hazard a guess that if a woman wanted to apply for a license to make alcohol under the same circumstances that a man would the license would most likely be granted...if it were not then remind the person who denied you about the equal protection clause of the fourth and foutheenth ammendmnent and also remind that person that they personally would be liable for both civil and criminal prosecution for denying you your constitutional rights....this restriction is an old law and I am not sure if it has been rescended or not.

...good point about DUI enforcement. i'm not sure if a test exists, although it ought not be beyond the wit of man. As to the thing about marijuana staying in the system, many chemicals stay in the system for a long time, but have no measurable effect on the person. Cold remedies are one such substance, their effects being over relatively quickly, but disqualifying someone from giving blood for a much longer time.

Reminded of a very old joke.

A cop pulls over a weaving driver. He asks him to take a Breathalyzer test. Silly one... THAT is exactly WHY I wanna now make Brandy...and yes, of course it's a distilled spirit! A little goes a long ways, which is why I wouldn't worry about quantity limits. But...other than bench-pressing anything close to my weight or more...I wanna do everything a guy gets to do!

Of course, that would include writing my name in da snow; though it might be a boy's instrument I'd use! <WEG>

philosophy:
The premise behind the DUI test is to test for the level of impairment. Blood alcohol content has been shown to correlate exactly with level of impairment due to alcohol.
It is not against the law to drive while under the infuence of marijuana or alcohol. It is against the law to drive sufficiently impaired as to be a hazard to navigation...so if you can pass the physical test for impairment then there should be no problem.

I think alcohol does more damage to people than marijuana ever could. Alcohol makes people violent, depressed, wrecks the liver, ruins lives and families....and beer smells horrible too.

Marijuana is actually a sacred plant to many cultures.

I am not in favor of legalization. But then I am not in favor of alcohol either.

As a soldier, well former one, my life depended on the abilities of people to react around me. Anything that altered that was a detriment as far as I am concerned.

Pot will only remain a big cash crop as long as it is illegal, of course. I am sure there'd be some comercial market but when it grows like a weed, I doubt it'd be much. The fact of it's present financial weight is just an indication of how many north americans are being criminalised by present legislation and how much public money is wasted on enforcement and punishment.

I'd predict a huge drop in crimes of violence and public mischief if it were legalised.

Popular attempts at legalisation or even decriminalisation here in Canada, have been confounded by direct pressure from the USA, the coersion in the form of threats agains unrelated interests (i.e. economic hostage taking). The paranoia this issue inspires south of the border is astounding. A good deal of Canadian annoyance with the USA results from the willingness of the USA to enforce it's moral (and immoral) policies, beyond its borders and upon mature, friendly democracies.

When you press the seeds, I hear the resulting oil is pretty much a drop in replacement for diesel #2.

Now who doesn't want to really see an end to the tail of peak oil? Hmm.
