My parrot made the sound of an orgasm. I had him 2 months. I figured the lady I got him from had a good life. Well - I seen on a diff board that the poster claimed their bird masterbated.

Ok- how does this happen?

I was told I have a male. But I cant see a penis.

Which animals do or dont. help me. I have to know. As long as im on this subject- I have a buddy into dogs- [yikes] when i was going to visit - he said to bring sheba- w/o thinking i said OK. Well teh deal on this is I control my bitch- and she isnt available for sex. period.

So was my parrot mimicking an orgasm, or having one???

LOL- I suppose. I actually belong to a yahoo group on parrots- but am afraid of posting this there. One poster claimed I am an animal abuser- because I named my parrot knucklehead. Go figure.

Parrots don't masturbate, per se, because they lost their little fingers. The can engage in frottage, rubbing against something such as the knuckles of your hand to get off.

Parrots, like snakes, have a 'hemi-penis', usually hidden in the cloaca and not visible unless you surgically probe.

Some people try to guess sex by stance or the ring around a parrot's eyes. I haven't found that reliable.

You can sex many birds, however, by feeling for their pelvic bones. Male pelvic bones will almost touch. Female pelvic bones will be much wider for an egg to pass. You'll feel for two little bumps high between the legs.

It is widely known British parrots are ferocious and serial masturbators. On a clear day you will see thousands of parrots in a line on the white cliffs of Dover having a big, furious, communal wank. I'm yet to see an American parrot so can't say what your types do over there.
