White chocolate tastes nothing like chocolate they should call it solid milk instead I think. I don’t even know what it’s made from all I know is the EU hasn’t renamed it yet so it must have some chocolate content.

Even as a kid I loved White Chocolate...... Still do, but I've graduated to Dark Chocolate and ignore that Milk Chocolate in the middle....

marieToo -> RE: White Chocolate (12/27/2006 4:48:24 PM)

I love white too.  They should just call it vanilla as opposed to chocolate;  thats the flavor or it afterall.  And its mostly fat and sugar.  Maybe it should be called delicious white vanilla-flavored fat n sugar.  I melt it down and dip oreos and pretzels into it, then let them harden up in the fridge.  Its purely sinful.

Daddysredhead -> RE: White Chocolate (12/27/2006 4:49:24 PM)

It'll do in a pinch...  but milk chocolate is my favorite.

mnottertail -> RE: White Chocolate (12/27/2006 4:58:56 PM)

Isn't white chocolate one of the signs of the end of the world, and doesn't it also give you herpes?

http://ask.yahoo.com/20030106.html says:
quote:

White chocolate is made the same way as milk chocolate and dark chocolate -- the difference is the ingredients. In fact, because of the ingredients, many people (including the U.S. Food and Drug Administration) don't consider "white chocolate" to be chocolate at all.

It goes on to explain that white chocolate is made from cocoa butter, milk and sugar.  What is missing is the dark brown 'liquor' that is a component of milk and dark chocolate.

My preference is, the darker the better.

White chocolate is a type of chocolate based on cocoa butter without the cocoa solids. It also includes milk solids, sugar, lecithin, and flavorings (usually including vanilla). Cocoa butter is the ingredient used in other chocolates so that they remain solid at room temperature yet melt easily in the mouth. Thus, white chocolate has a texture like that of chocolate but does not have the same taste. Unlike chocolate it does not contain caffeine.

Chocolate, despite the color, makes me wet.

I have such a weakness for really good dark chocolate.

Lordandmaster -> RE: White Chocolate (12/27/2006 8:11:01 PM)

That was pretty much my evolution too.  But I don't like white chocolate at all anymore.

RazorJAK -> RE: White Chocolate (12/28/2006 3:08:02 AM)

Craftsman beat me to the punch here.

White chocolate has all the cocoa butter and none of the cocoa liquor of other chocolates.  Hence it also has no caffeine.

I personally do not like the taste of it.  It leaves an after-taste and sensation of a "coating" of the tongue and pallet.  Give me the bitterness of dark chocolate anyday.

Mmm,  Ghirardelli ...
