What exactly is the big deal about them to you?
 
Edited to add - i cant even hear what the people are saying on those you tube things which are about as reliable a source of info as a chocolate fire guard is good for keeping kids away from a fire!!
Could you possibly type here why you disagree with id cards so much?
Oh and we already gathered you think it infringes on your privacy.

in a word is just another peice of the puzzle to the dismantling the democratic system.  i have already typed this all out in the threads i gave you to look at and go to a library to view those videos, they even talk about 7/7 and the war monger buddies bush and BLAIR etc etc....  Then maybe you will have a better idea of what I am talking about

Indeed.  I suppose that Jews were expected to wear the Star of David so that the Nazi's could better attend to the special needs that Jewish people have.  No doubt it was for their own good.

If I recall, these cards will also likely have Radio Transmitters that will enable GPS tracking of a citizen.  I highly doubt the intention is to allow me to call the Department of State and ask them how to get to Fifth Avenue, based on my current position.  This technology will enable not just government officials, but -anyone- with the proper equipment to identify who someone is - meaning if you walk into Macy's you might expect to receive some junk mail a week later.  If you have a parking ticket warrent, you might end up arrested at the Post Office.  These measures will make the Gestapo seem like bumbling doughnut jockeys.

missturbation, I honestly think some of the views from the US are just because of that. Our history and our culture is built on the IDEA of freedom. It is not an easy thing for many people to see leave our society no matter what the reason.

Well I am not a thief and to suggest that anyone concerned over this is concerned only that they can break the law is a very very narrow view indeed.
So I guess the reason I don't want my prints in the national data base is because A) I am a thief, or B) I have ugly cuticles? That makes no sense to me whatsoever. I feel that the 'ugly' references you used were unkind and inappropriate.
It is a bit like the No Profile thread, saying that those that don't use an indepth profile are hiding something. In my mind, folks are too ready to hand over personal information.

Paranoid? Maybe.
Educated? Absolutely.

miss, the chances are if you're white you'll never be asked to produce your ID card. If you're black or asian you probably will. You know how it is, all blacks are drug runners and all asians are terrorists. They've been doing this for decades - stopping and searching non-whites usually without any sort of basis, this will give them an extra string to the bow if an act is passed.

Just as worrying is the proposed DNA database to house the DNA of everyone. Imagine how easy it would be to frame someone - just swap the DNA and there's no way back from that. The number of miscarriages of justice and deliberate framing in the '70s makes this proposal a real nightmare scenario. If this is ever passed it'll be the biggest invasion of our civil liberties that comes to my mind.

you wanted to kow where i talked about it and its in there somewhere, it would be easier if you just watched the vid, and did a little homework on how hitler took over germany, they sold their freedom for security too!

Everyday you are caught on CCTV on average 200 times, is this a breach of your privicy or crime prevention. I would rather be safe than sorry and have the prints on file (mine already are from being a Juvinile Delinquent) rather than have someone use my identity and use my identity and  rob me for thousands of pounds (im a Brit so sue me) . ID with a picture is needed to prevent theft, would you rather your CC and yourself are screwed out of your hard earned cash? Or you allow someone with an ID to use it? Make up your own choice, because i already have.

I sincerely hope you are joking here!! Where i live you never see an asian or black being stopped because they cry racism faster than george bush makes a gaff.

I've not heard of this but yeah thats a little worrying. These things have always happened though - framing etc. I just dont see the point in refusing to carry an id card because in the scheme of things its tiny.

i studied history and know what went on in the war - funnily enough the UK was quite involved in all that. As for you tube like i say i wud rather trust tony blair than info found on there. If you cant give me good reason for your opposition to id cards without sending me hunting through endless threads then i cant take your opposition seriously.

The objection to the new ID card is it will have an RFID tag in it. So a police officer could just sit in his car and scan everyone. You can be tracked in any city anytime anywhere. With a series of RFID readers located all over the city(like the surveillance cameras), the government would and more than likely would track the movements of your RFID. So they will know where you are all the time. If that's not disturbing I don't know what is. Also there are plans to place these tags in currency, and merchandise, so when you buy something it scans it and transfers ownership of the currency to the business and the merchandise to you in the big database. The currency really isn't necessary then. Since all currency originates from banks a transfer chain can be established. So, they could track you by your RFID license, and even track where you spend your money and how much at that point.

It's all a chain of events one being accepted then add another which is the problem. If one accepts RFID, then they will begin pushing it for currency. Then you could in theory be cut off with a electronic toggle in a database.

Of course they will sell it on safety, fighting smuggling of drug money, terrorists, etc... But what also happened is the complete control over anyone participating in the money economy.

It appears the conditioning to constant survellience has gone. Each met with distrust then acceptance...
Cameras->License Plates->ID card->Money->You guess.....
