SobbingAndTears -> What does it mean to be a "domme"? (12/30/2006 10:22:29 AM)

What does it mean to be a "domme"? I'll post my observations particularly of the Chicago area after some of your comments. Thanks

LuckyAlbatross -> RE: What does it mean to be a "domme"? (12/30/2006 10:26:07 AM)

A person who is oriented to be fulfilled in intimate personal relationships based on the dynamic that they have authority in day-day-day general life over the other.

"Domme" is a recently created word which tends to denote "female dom" and is very annoying to a lot of people (especially when people try to pronounce it "dom-may" or "dom-me"), who feel that "dom" or "female dom" is the best word to use.

I hate that word. I has no meaning to me except that someone is so hung up on they gender or sex identity that they must have a made up word when they could just say they were a top or a dominant.

I am NOT a domme -- I am a dominant and a sadist who also happens to be a woman, a androgynous leaning woman at that.

bandit25 -> RE: What does it mean to be a "domme"? (12/30/2006 10:30:02 AM)

So, how is it supposed to be pronounced?  I've always wondered.

Dom.

Going with the French guidelines, just as "femme" is pronounced "fem."  The "me" is silent.

Of course since this is a totally new word, there's no set rules of how to pronounce it or not and local accents always color a word- but in addition to the annoyance of having a different word for "female dom," the perceived mispronounciation of it tends to be one more addtional annoyance.

mnottertail -> RE: What does it mean to be a "domme"? (12/30/2006 10:37:48 AM)

I have given the pronounciation before, but will supply it again, it is only to be intoned when beign queened and is rather like:

MMMMMMPPPPPPPPPPPHHHHHHHHHHFFFFFFFFFF.

Practice it in your mirror, with your tongue stuck way out and straining, it will come to you.

Jeniluscious -> RE: What does it mean to be a "domme"? (12/30/2006 12:56:41 PM)

It means that the grasp that one has on the proper use of nouns, as promulgated in the current edition of the PMLA Stylesheet, is tenuous at best and completely lacking in high probability. This is a blatant internet-ism and the usage should be stamped out immediately, preferably in a violent manner and ESPECIALLY if pronounced (with a straight face) dom-MAY. Fortunately, verbalization of this heinous faux-term is almost never heard aloud, as the proponents are almost never ever seen in public (or more than three feet from a computer screen).

I heard it constantly in the Baltimore scene.

From my observations "Domme" appears to mean the following:
  1. Overweight (morbidly obese in many cases).
  2. Unpleasant personality with sociopathic tendancies.
  3. Divorced (multiple times in many cases).
  4. Emotionally needy.
  5. Insecure.
  6. Employed in a low paying menial job.

But then again I'm new here............

BlkTallFullfig -> RE: What does it mean to be a "domme"? (12/30/2006 8:29:17 PM)

If we went with that definition for a fem dom, and tried to figure out what a male sub is from your response, we would describe a male sub as an angry, unkind, uncouth, probably poor, misogynistic, probably underendowed, socially inept man who can't even get a fat, underachieving, emotionally needy woman to do him, but I'm not saying I agree with either definition...

I would welcome you to the boards, but I'm 100% certain you are someone who already hangs out under another name, or you will definitely be soon. [;)]

To the OP's question of what it means to be a "domme", go with LA's definition, as she is right on the money with it

hmmmmmmm you are a straight male sub, presumally looking a female dominant....if that is your opinion of female dominants...then....the question begs....

nah...ill shut up ill only get myself in a heap of trouble...

welcome to the fora LMS...hope that we eventually change your out look on Fem Doms....because bitter, bitchy, sarcastic, snarky subs arent that great either.

LOL
i went right there with you also.. as the saying goes.....birds of a feather, flock together.

Opps was that my outside typing?

devoT -> RE: What does it mean to be a "domme"? (12/31/2006 7:09:23 AM)

Hmmm, considering the reverse of LMS' definition, I would say that most men on the entire planet, never mind just the subs, would quite willingly and happily submit to a woman who was:
1. Beautiful, with a perfect body.
2. Delightfull personality with loving, nurturing tendencies.
3. Never been married, and possibly even virgin.
4. Emotionally secure.
5. Super confident.
6. Very well paid in a high powered job.

However, LMS, I suggest that wouldn't tax your submissive tendencies very much, as you would just be like every other male. What could be more submissive then, and take your submission into Zen/Tantric Master levels, than to submit to just such a woman as you describe?

mstrjx -> RE: What does it mean to be a "domme"? (12/31/2006 8:40:21 AM)

It's also unwise to pronounce the work like 'dummy'.  I don't think that goes over very well.

Hmm...new to the lifestyle too...well...word of advice, that attitude really won't get you very far and maybe you need to look in the mirror and ask yourself why you've chosen to enter the Lifestyle.  I always wonder about men suddenly becoming submissive who are looking for the Hollywood stereotypical FemDom.....is it because you don't stand a chance with your looks and personality to attract the attention of the beauty you desire and think maybe if you offer submission you'll get it?

If you're seriously interested in this lifestyle we live you just screwed up big time by insulting the very women you say you seek.  I'd say you have an uphill battle ahead of you...in the vast ocean of male submissives searching the nasty ones tend to just wash up on the shore and rot.

KaramelGoddess -> RE: What does it mean to be a "domme"? (12/31/2006 8:57:50 AM)

I prefer Domina - Latin - means "Lady of the House" - when being addressed by submissives.  It is a term of respect for the female dominant entity.

Padrona - Italian - means "Mistress" when being addressed by My pet.  Just because I am an accent Slut [:)].  he calls Me Mistress too.  And when he's been bad My name is "Goddess" LOL.

I am fine being called a FemDom or Female Dominant.  Domme is played out now.
Dominatrix works as well!

Wow, so new, and yet. such strong opinions...*cough*welcome*coughU* to the boards. Since your nick says sub, and straight, I wish you MUCH luck with the female dominants on the site.  Your attitude will win them right over, I'm sure[&o]

LadyHugs -> RE: What does it mean to be a "domme"? (12/31/2006 2:14:53 PM)

Dear SobbingAndTears, Ladies and Gentlemen;

I will state, that I do not really enjoy the use of "Domme" as to define who and what I am.

I am a Female Dominant, Dominatrix, a lady, a sensual Dominant, a sadistic Dominant and everything in between.  I have several Arch-types that I can identify with.  Those who empower me are my servants, my slaves, my companions, my guards and my joy.  The more submissive these slaves are; the more power I have to be a lady in every sense of the word. The more loving a slave is, the more loving I can be.  The slaves present me and I represent the slaves.  I present my slaves and they represent me.  In this way we honor, respect and maintain each other; all through adult consent and establishing the roles we hold.

Just some thoughts.

Respectfully submitted for consideration,
Lady Hugs

I'm not a huge fan of this one, I also don't like goddess...especially when I've asked that they call me something else. Domme is no biggie, Domina or Mistress are ok too. When one is in my service it would be my name or Mistress.

I think the one that creaped me out the most was the repeated dommy (like mommy) from the sissy, toilet, diaper slave that wanted to move in immediately. That one contacted me under no less than 5 different id's before he realized no, not interested was what I really meant and had his IP address blocked. The IP was registered to a family (also had child monitored profiles) in the rural midwest. This guy was claiming to be near me and could move in immediately...had I been willing.  [sm=banghead.gif]
