I think it's all about intention.
Work it. Own it. Enjoy it.

To the vanilla crowd, it will make a statement.

Just know that you will be judged based on it.

They'd find you odd and peculiar and wonder what other odd things you might do.

In vanilla public at least.

If I liked them, I'd ask you where you got them.
And... I'd probably find it distracting and not take you very seriously.
I'll probably get flamed for that, but it's the truth.

*Dons women's clothing, wig, and fake tickle-bitties*

Yes, I'm a woman, dammit!

I agree with Aileen.  It all depends on the setting.  In a professional setting, far from professional.  In a personal setting, you're sending strong signals, which will distract from any other message getting across.  In a fetish setting, it could work.

Yours,

benjina

I would wonder if your poor feet were hurting as much as mine do when I wear heels.

OK AS64; over to me, the visiting professor of transgender behaviours....

First off, I would definitely notice. I wouldnt see it as crossdressing, fetishistic or even a fashion statement; I'm afraid I would see it as bizarre, but it wouldnt disgust me or anything. I'd likely find it funny, sorry.

As to your manliness so shod, I'm afraid I'd be far too distracted by what you had on your feet, to form an opinion. It wouldnt help me to come away from an encounter with "what a great guy" in my mind, put it that way - though by no means would I conclude you must be gay or a crossdresser either. I'd probably conclude that you were doing it for a bet with some mates, or that there was a hidden camera somewhere.

My main concern, (after "where did you buy them and how much?" perhaps), would be for your personal safety in a world which is simply unable to cope in the main, with any gender display which is not within acceptable bounds of masculinity or femininity, but especially masculinity. (women can get away with almost anything it seems). Your chances of being beaten to a bloody pulp by some low life, vary in direct proportion to your straying from acceptable male appearance I'm afraid.

So, having supplied an impression, can I ask why you wear them?

E

Well, I'm not a woman, but by default I'd gander you'll be judged as weird by 99% of the people you encounter.

I really don't understand these threads about wearing stuff in public. If I did what was comfortable for me, I'd go to the store bare foot in my underwear. But of course that would be odd , right? And 99% of the people would think I was strange for doing it.

Same with any non-standard clothing, of course almost everyone will think you are weird.

If it's that important to you, by all means go for, but don't expect the vast majority of people to react well. Its just not going to go well, unless you do it in an environment that accepts that kind of thing.

I have seen some men pull it off quite nicely  and I don't mean TV's that dress up totally as a woman although some of them look nice too .

In fact I just saw Eddie Izzard, a transvestite stand up comic, on the BBC channel, he had on a really nice pair of slim leather pants and a great set of heels, I think he looked really sharp.

are these male or female shoes??

i have a pair of disco clunkers made of ssnakeskin. male- definately i get looks when i wear them. my brother flat out told me it embarrasses him if i do. these are mens shoes.

if i seen you around town, i would conclude you are a drag queen. most drag queens are gay. some can look better then real woman. --im gay- ild rather look at  hard toed boots the heals.

one legend says heals were invented so teh lady could not run from the cave man...the man could catch and lay her.

i never thought men would wear ear rings!! i am gay- years ago i wanted to. these days i wont. folks are more comfy if you just blend in. dont get me wrong- i went thru my spiked hair period. beleive it or not- im rebelling right now by leaving a missing tooth missing. society is very judgemental on teeth. someone in public thinks im a dumb hick due to that tooth. i can blow them away when - they expect a dummy......

if you are an entertainer or performer you can wear clothes that are festive. also- big diff between LA and small towns. lol

what color are they?

I personally wouldn't bat an eyelid other than  Probably being envious if they were a good pair of shoes / boots lol.
Prince is well known for wearing heels and i guess hes looked on as strange by some and eddie izzard is definatley looked upon as weird by some but he has been known to go the whole hog, dress, makeup and shoes.
Each to their own i say - seeing a man in a pair of heels is no worse or different to seeing a woman wearing a dress that is 2 sizes too small.

Nothing sick here, and nobody qualified to tell you if you have any other emotional issues would even attempt to diagnose, etc through a message board.  If you think there's something psychological that you're not comfortable coming to terms with, the best advice I can give is see a kink-friendly professional (counselor, not a dominatrix;) )

Consider this:  when I'm first getting out of bed, I usually only wear boxers and a T-shirt.  I stumble around, groping for coffee and read CNN.com before I even consider getting dressed.  In this context, nothing is unusual about my behavior - my boxers cover the same as a normal male swimsuit.  If I decided to walk down the street to the local supermarket to buy a loaf of bread and some eggs like this, though, people -will- stare.  Not just casual glances, I mean full on mouth gaping, pointing and saying 'puta madre, ese gringo es RARO!'  (Fuck, this gringo is crazy!)

I could easily put a pair of shorts on that covers the exact same amount of flesh; the point is in this context, my personal comfort (of being in my underwear) far exceeds local custom.  When you do that, you not only elicit a strong reaction, you create an atmosphere that doesn't focus on who you are as a person because all eyes are on your shoes.  The issue isn't on your choice of footware, it's the statement you make in dressing in a manner that you know will be ill received by society.

The question you should be asking yourself, is what is so vital to you about wearing high heels in public, that you cannot simply enjoy doing so in private, or in situations that are appropriate?  Resolve that question, and I think you'll find the drive to wear high heels (at least in pulblic) isn't nearly so strong.

Stephan

there was a fad when the kids wore pagamas to school, also one where they wear clothes inside out.

to the OP, where do you buy large ladies shoes? i thought the only place [located in new york] closed as teh owner retired.

mens feet are wider-  a D or an E. womans feet are closer to a C
