Well you could go on a huge stint of carefully laid hints - leave your porn around the house, talk about great it feels to the prostate massaged and all that BS. My suggestion is to talk about what turns each other on.  That way the discussion isn't just about YOU, its about HER too!  You can compare mutual likes and dislikes, having a general discussion about what turns both of you on and you may learn a heck of a lot in the process. 
 
When it comes to strap-on play, I'd recommend that you start by talking about how you'd like to have some anal stimulation and how you know that it turns you on.  Ask her to start with fingers, plugs or probes of some kind so she won't be intimidated and can see how you respond; especially if she didn't mention wanting to play with your ass when the two of you discussed likes and dislikes in general terms.  You might also like to offer to reciprocate and see how she responds.  If she likes it herself, she'll perhaps be more open to eventually giving you what you ultimately desire from her.
 
Once you feel she's comfortable with anal stimulation and play, that would be the time to ask her if she'd like to try to use a strap-on dildo with you.  Tell her you'd like to know how it feels for her to do it to you, as you want to experience what its like for her when you're inside her; or something along those lines.  The bottom line is that I wouldn't recommend that you go straight to the strap-on dildo, but use baby steps instead to see how she responds and let her get comfortable with anal play over time.  You don't want to risk her having a knee jerk reaction that you're gay. (been there & had it happen)
