Which edge, and how close do you want to get?

Edge play is an awful big umbrella to some folks. I personally define it as play where SSC no longer applies at all, and RACK is preparing to dissappear over the horizon.

Some common ideas of edgy, fire, knife, breath, sensory deprivation, needles, temp piercings, cutting, and now having not slept properly in 3 days my brain has just decided to go all blank on me

Each person defines edge play differently depending upon where there limits are. To be taken to the edge of your limits is edge play be it physically or emotionally. i enjoy pushing my limits i feel it makes me stronger. To be broken and built up again is incredibly cathartic...but hell i only have 5 hard limits so who am i to talk...

oh and to find information on it just do a google search....bdsm edge play....im sure you will find lots of info but be forewarned it will conflict with each other based on individual interpretation and perspective as all things...

I'm going to stick with fire and knife play for now. I'll learn what I can there then move on.I just want to know the how, what, why, when, who. That stuff for now. As I see I need to understand someothing I'll ask more questions.

I find it very odd that someone wants to go straight to the edge play stuff and wants to learn it by reading? WTF?
Edge play techniques are usually not the sort of thing you can learn well that way. Sure there is reading to be done but that reading only prepares you to get the face time hands on learning from someone who already knows what they are doing.

I am not disagreeing fully with your post, but I do have another view point here.

I don't think it is a bad idea to read up on something you are considering trying. It is a good place to start. When I first started playing at all, I did a lot of reading.

I agree with the the hands one with someone who knows what they are doing.

I realize no one has directly answered your question. But emotional outbursts do not tend to render positive results, either. The thing is, it's a big topic and with most things "edgey" there are inherent dangers to be aware of. Sometimes we see people who want to learn how to cut the hell out of someone without killing them, and think they can learn it from reading a script. This can be dangerous, as the person being cut is a unique individual who may very well respond to such cutting quite differently than what someone wrote on a screen.

Having said all that, I have not experienced fire play but my Master does wield his knife to me fairly regularly. I respond rather favorably to having the crap scared out of me. While he does not cut intricate patterns on me, he will "threaten" me with his blade - a very large and shiney bowie knife - by surprise attacks in which he'll grab my hair, yank my head back to arch my neck, and press the blade into my juggular (without actually cutting it open). He'll threaten to cut my nipples off, or to cut my clit right off. He has slid the blade deep into my mouth, and even into other delicate orafices. Verrrrrry carefully. He will take its very sharp tip and draw or write on me with it. He amuses himself by creating starbursts off my nipples...or writing words across my ass or belly or mons or breasts...you get the idea.

It's painful, a bit scary, and launches me into subspace. BUT.....that is because I trust him wholeheartedly. Often when he exposes my neck like that, my heart will race frantically at first, and then my body will go limp as if to say "Take it all." When he threatens body parts, I tremble inside, and he can feel it. These are quite intense moments for both of us. But it took time and care to get to this point. Knives kill, after all, and someone afraid of knives, like me, can react spastically. If she bolts up in fear just as your knife is pressed into a delicate part - - well you can imagine the unintentional damage that can create.

alright I'll give a detailed explanationas to why I want info. I made a deal with a sub if I could find a limit of her's that she's agree to be my sub other wise we'd part ways. After having a few trusted domm's view her profile they told me edge play was something she doesn't talk about much so I needed to get informed.
I did the capos because people were getting off topic and it was making me VERY upset. I'm sorry for the out burst. I just want some basics about the subject. I'm NOT going to actually do it. I only intend to use it to show this sub she really does have a limit in her fetishes.

How about this - amputation of both legs and arms, slowly, for example in a wood chipper. Then facial scarring with an iron, and removal of the breasts with a hacksaw....

Seems to me that to risk a relationship over a bet would seem to trivialize what it is, but that's just me.

.IT depends on how you see edge play..I know a few that goes beyond edge and it scares me.I am afraid one day they will kill someone...I would say our edge play goes to the very edge and just beyond before there is permanent injury to the sub/slave.After all who wants a sub that can never play again..WILLIAM

Okay if I may make a few sugguestions. If this edge play is using a sharp pointed object, I would first sugguest you find someone with experience in it and get them to mentor you. I own several daggers that I use for edge play, some are razor sharp and I keep them that way, others are more of "show" type, meaning the edge and point are dull, and by dull I mean you can not be cut by the edge and if you wanted to stabe you really would have to put alot of effort into it. I think you if you are going to do edge play start with one of these "show" type daggers. Done properly edge play can be really fun for both.
