Status: offline 		to echo Aubre, there is a wonderful site on scam baiting at http://www.419eater.com/  This is the place where you can get back at those Nigerian and other scammers who would like to give you millions of dollars if only you would help them out by giving them your personal bank account info.  It's hilarious to read how some people use email to make the scammers waste time and energy and get nothing for it....

From other sites I've used had plenty of emails starting out as described. Others have begun on a 'friend' type note only to turn into a request for a visa to UK.!!   Even a sorry can't help ends up later with further requests.
Given up counting the number of proposals had from guys in the Far East in their very first email.
 
Usually trash any scam type mail but may now just forward any to the link.

i was heavily into net commerce 3 years ago-followed all the trends. 3 years ago over 50% of hackers were from OUTSIDE the USA.  Ild suppose the rate is higher today.

the tackiest nigeria scammer i talked to on messenger- played as he was with his church- coming to US to build homes with habitat for humanity. when he laid his pitch on me- i led him on. lots of "praise the lord", and "halleluia"-- he never figured it out that i was onto him.

these scammer more then likely live in horrid conditions. they work a boiler room-as they know Americans, and indeed many westerners are materialistic.

one variation of this scam- i put an ad to sell a 1989 celebrity clunker. the "buyer" wanted to ship this car overseas- and for me to western union the overage. Who the heck pays transport on an old chevy??!!!!

one scammer- i claimed i knew the deceased= and promised i would call bill clinton to help the matter along...... lmao

When you have a list that you do I'm sure you will find out there are no more here than anywhere else.  It is just they see you here more so you are more of a target.

Status: offline 		Starting last september, I had a rash of like 10 beautiful black chicks from ghana, nigeria, and other countries in africa in love with me, and ready to drop everything to come here to be my slave. It was a welcome change of pace from the eagerness a dom usually finds around here from local native subbies, so I strung em all along, having already been thru it with a russian girl the spring before. Hers had ended with an exuberant email opening with "I LOVE YOU MGD!!!!", and then asking for the meager $800 plane ticket money to fly here and be my blowjob slut direct from the Soviet Union. I got her address and told her I'd mail it right away. So then I began to get some of her choicest little emails about what she'd let me do to her when she arrived, which soon turned concerned, as the money hadnt got there, and finally when my "lost in the mail" excuse had run dry and she bluntly and coldly accused me of lying and never sending it, I just replied, "shit no i didn't send it, think im and idiot bitch?" From the tone of her final 3 slanderous and flame filled emails, i had to assume she not only did, but far worse.
So I almost felt sorry for the poor african girls as one by one they learned I really didnt love them, want them as slaves, and that I'd never send them a dime. A few of them were actually pretty sweet till you insinuated they were scammers, and you'd then see their true colors, which werent even close to decorative. but it finally got boring, and I just let em pile up in Bulk mail. Why would I be so heartless, and what should you do if it happens to you?

Status: offline 		Somebody on one of the scam baiter websites managed to convince one of the scammers to take delivery, and pay the shipping on some "Anus" brand laptops - here's the fake site:

What they actually got was a bunch of ancient broken computers and a few cinder blocks. The amazing thing is that he got them to do it over and over again.

Status: offline 		Recently a popular group in Nigeria made a rock video all about how easy it is to scam Americans using the net. It was the number one video there for some time. Many new scammers were encouraged to join the ranks as a result. Though I am sure there must be a few boilerroom type operations run by professionals most of the scammers are individuals operating out of internet cafe's. Of course they share ideas and that is why so many of these approaches seem so similar. From what I have seen on this site they are quite easy to spot as few have much command of the English language and almost none of them have the sense or the math ability to convert kilograms to pounds so that they will list themselves as something like 5'9" tall and 45 pounds. Pretty much an impossible combination in a healthy adult. That makes them easy to spot and ignore. As for the whole counterscam idea; I suppose it can be satisfying to feel like one is striking back, but the reality is that most of the scammers are living in abject poverty and are desperate for any money. That makes them easy to counterscam.  You should ask yourself though if you were living in total poverty with no prospect of reasonable employment wouldn't you try to rip off those percieved as wealthy and stupid? The only reason this scamming business has become so popular there is that in the past it has worked. Almost like the old Dire Straits song, "Money for Nothing." Don't hate the scammers, just ignore them.

You have broken my resolve to be cruel to these people, when I think of them paying their money for internet access and cafe lattes, uploading photos and so on and how they are desperately scraping lies together to be so much more than a street prostitute as their parents were....well that just siezes up the valves of my heart.

Those in abject poverty shouldn't be fuckin' the dog in an internet cafe.  I will take them on as slaves in the relative opulent luxury of my house, on my seemingly inestimable land, with access to all america, if they can get together the bread to travel here.  They will be able to swim it faster if they use the money from the cafe on swimming lessons.

Come to me, my Nigerian Princesses!!!!!!

Status: offline 		Nigeria is famous for this actually. It has to do with a lack of accountabilty over the use of the internet there. The government does not cooperate with foreign governments so a scammer there get's off scott free as long as he doesn't scam Nigeria citizens. Same is true for Russia though it can come from anywhere. it's just that Nigeria and Russia have very orginized crime sindicates revolving around internet scams and identity theft from it.
