Alrighty Ladies... What sort of pampering do you enjoy/require when your hormones are giving you hell for a week (or less than seven days if you're lucky!)...

And submissives/slaves feel free to chime in if you'd care to offer ideas on what you do/to do for a Lady while nature is being unkind.

....

(quick clarification if that's all going over someone's head... we're talking about periods here... Aunt Flo... the miserable week... cramping... hot flashes... the works.)

SweetDommes -> RE: The Rose Colored Week (2/27/2005 11:35:39 PM)

Chocolate, and lots of it. In any version that he can get it to me in (except for white chocolate and dark chocolate - anything else goes - milk chocolate, chocolate chip cookies, chocolate syrup, chocolate icecream, hot chocolate, etc.)

Backrubs, heat packs and cuddling normally help too ... depending on how pissy I am. Sometimes cuddling doesn't happen cuz I wanna strangle them for being male LOL

Jasmyn -> RE: The Rose Colored Week (2/27/2005 11:50:04 PM)

Orgasm, and plenty of them...man made, self made, artificially acquired...all good.

GentleLady -> RE: The Rose Colored Week (2/28/2005 1:27:05 AM)

Each month is different for Me with different moods but for the really bad times I try and go walking until I calm down and then slide into a hot bubble bath and cuddles. Some months I crave sex non-stop, other months I need to cry, and others I need to flog. I go with the mood and try and balance off the emotional swings.

Gentle Lady

ShiftedJewel -> RE: The Rose Colored Week (2/28/2005 3:17:52 AM)

Give me my heated bed and my heat pad, the television remote and foot massages till the subbies hands fall off, then I'm pretty happy. I don't go through any serious mood swings, have never been prone to PMS, but if you catch me at the right moment I will cry during a sad comercial.... lol. And by the way, I don't have periods.... I'm just "broken".

Well if I have my Boston partner around, generally just lots of cuddling and being able to get him to do errands for me. Otherwise, I just like lots of time with the boyfriend and talking on the phone to feel connected and balanced. This is specially hard during finals!

I decided that my post might not be taken as it was meant, so I chose to edit it for content..

nature has been "unkind" to this slave since the age of 11. we're not talking just for a week out of the month, either. due to an overload of synthetic hormones in utero, this slave's hormones have been set on overproduction daily for the last 27 years. during that time, this slave has tried just about everything imaginable seeking relief from cramping, nausea, bloating, overall body ache, migraines, tender swollen breasts, mood swings, crying bouts, anxiety, night(and day)sweats, hot flashes, you name it! with the exception of acupuncture(eeeeek--needles) and chiropractic, the most effective methods for dealing with the physical discomforts and the emotional see-saw that this slave has found have all been from natural substances, from a hot tub soak, massages and herbal tea to meditation, breathing exercises and yoga, nothing compares to nature's remedies for nature's ills. it takes some trial and error to find what works best for you, this slave would recommend consulting with a nutritionist, herbalist and wholistic health practitioner for suggestions as to specific herbal treatments and dietary suggestions. please feel free to contact this slave on the other side with any questions.

Lucky lil ol' moi, normally only lasts 4-5 days. A bout of funky moodiness immediately prior is the warning sign. Once I'm aware, I clamp down the testy factor, give folks fair warning & go about my way. I do get ~nasty~ cramps the first day or two. Pop a couple of naproxens (muscle relaxants) & ibuprofens... good as gold once they take hold. I get very minimal bloating.

Living alone & currently subless, the pampering factor really doesn't come into play. When I did have companionship, I appreciated errands being run, chores being taken care of, & having the apartment kept neat. I like a tidy ship, ya know? Back rubs w/ warmed lotion or oil completed the effect. Then all was right with the world during this time. I'm amazingly consistent with this.

Stay safe all, play nice, & share your toys w/ others....

Bella, although I (fortunately) do not suffer from this monthly syndrome, I wanted to mention that naproxen is not a muscle relaxlant but a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory (NSAID) much like ibuprofen. You might want to be careful about overdoing too much NSAID medication at the same time - it can be hard on your liver, kidneys and stomach. Of course, every person is different and if this regimen works for you, well ... great! [:)]

Hmmm... giving backrubs with warmed lotion.... that -does- sound good!

GddssBella -> RE: The Rose Colored Week (2/28/2005 12:58:25 PM)

*faints, revives, & then chuckles*

I stand corrected. Well, whatever function they fulfill, they work. I limit my usage strictly to muscle cramps associated with menstrual discomfort. Thank you for your concern though. Now this means I have to go renew my robaxin script, lol. Need to have a relaxant on hand in case of a real humdinger of a spasm.

Luckier!

I've typically got the crimson flu for seven whole days. Bleh! I'm on the OrthoEvra patch now so I don't have cramps as badly as I did before. But when I was much younger, around eleven or twelve I had the most horrendous cramps. I'd curl up in a ball for two or three days while my insides tried to claw their way out.

Now I'm managing a bit better!

I don't typically like chocolate but certain tasty treats from a place called See's does wonders. My heating pad and I become best friends. Comfort foods like grilled cheese sandwiches and chicken noodle soup become must-haves...

I'd love to have someone following me around with a bottle of lotion to massage any part offered at any given time. And I sure as heck want more cuddling.

Nasty icky hormones... we hates them we do...

The nicest thing my sub can do for me to ease the suffering.. fist me. I know it sounds icky to most of you at the best of times, but I enjoy it and it eases my cramps a LOT and shortens the overall period. I could go into details about why, but I don't want to make ya'll go EWWW.

Other things I enjoy when period cranky: backrubs, hair rubs, ice cream/sweets/chocolate, being cuddled (him spooned against my back providing warmth,) being brought dinner in bed, being read to (try it sometime, it is very soothing,) and a dozen other things. :-) Just pamper me in every way...

I've been on NSAIDs for the past 5 years (almost daily.) I've done vioxx, celebrex and bextra, as well as several others, including my current Mobic. Mobic is the only one that doesn't rip my stomach to shreds.

The only one that ever gave me a true problem was Bextra. I was on it a month and was at the Drs for the routine we've-changed-your-meds-so-I-want-to-see-you-in-a-month visit. My blood pressure was so high that they'd not let me leave the office till it came down (stroke range.) I was lucky and it responded quickly to the medication to lower it. If it hadn't, the next stop was the hospital.

NSAIDs are very usefull, but quite scary. Use with caution.

LA,
You are the bomb. Those would have been my exact words. LOL. I don't bleed anymore, early menopause, but the pms still happens like clockwork. Though it might be the perfect time to see a willing victum, I mean pure masochist to allow me to release some serious frustration.

Yes yes yes yes YES! I don't do the whole monthly mess thing anymore, but that was the absolute best relief when I used to. (TtG for depo and NO MORE PERIODS!)

Actually, it almost makes up for the acute dysmenorrhea on day one and the sore breasts the week before ;)

Ibuprofen will help with the pain somewhat but I try to take it only when I can’t work through the pain mentally. A hot bath will help but I have not gotten a Jacuzzi installed in my office yet so until then, I’ll take the drugs ;)

I don’t know if I’d go as far as fisting (well I don’t even when I’m not menstruating) but masturbation does help. Orgasms however don’t. Anyhow, that’s the way it works for this body.

Cutting down on coffee, dairy and salt (well I try to cut down on the salt all the time!) a day or two before usually works. Pain is often in the kidneys and therefore being well hydrated is key. But if you salt intake is too high, you will retain more water. That will cause the swelling everywhere too.

Also, I notice that months where I slack on exercise a little will result in worse periods. So I make sure I get a few good workouts right before it all starts. Yoga and pilates are especially good for working out the mid section.

Also, I’d wish I could offer some words of encouragement to beth. I thought if we started our periods earlier on in life we’d finish earlier too. Apparently, it’s the opposite. I started at 8 years old (yep! I was precautious in every way possible) so I figure I’ll be getting this till I’m 80!

I like to have my feet rubbed and be sang to (I know it sounds odd, but I find it very soothing). Either that or I like to spoon and have my hair stroked.
Hot tea, hot water bottles, yogurt, chocolate, my fleece princess blanket and my heated matress pad are all helpful as well.
