Oh BOY. ROPE! FINALLY something I know SOMETHING about. Well, miss of the Witty Duo, you can go the "authentic" route, and get some Japanese Hemp rope. BUT it MUST be conditioned before use, and frankly I find it a bit tricky to work with. But if you are sticklers for authenticity, NOTHING looks as good. One of the best sources is the Twisted Monk -- LOVE his stuff. www.twistedmonk.com But I think I'd start with some good "plastic" rope, and that means nylon or polypropolene. Rope freaks (and I count myself in that august group) can debate rope quality, lengths, diameters...hell, even COLORS. But for beginning, if you want to do it right AND support some truly good scene people, hike your little Shibari craving self to www.rainbowrope.com. This stuff is good, fairly priced, and you get a TON of good info with whatever you buy. Don't get the flat-braid, it isn't for beginners. The cotton is yummy, but (1) harder to use for a novice and (2) doesn't "clean up" as well. Order a hundred feet of the MFP in your favorite colors, and tie away! Two more plugs: There are a ton of websites to learn about rope bondage, and more and more books out there. But one of the most current, informative, and just plain "Real" is run by lynn at www.ropefashions.com And, last but never, ever least, just about the time you two are craving more knowledge and want to see some gorgeous rigging, meet wonderful kinky people and have a great time, you'll come to Chicago for SHIBARICON 2007. There is NOTHING like it. www.shibaricon.com See you in may! and happy rigging. E. (FULL DISCLOSURE: I don't make a dime off of shibaricon, but I'm sort of "connected". But I wouldn't be connected, if I didn't believe, right?)

"When you wake up, Pooh," said Piglet, "what's the first thing you say?" "What's for breakfast? What do you say, Piglet?" "I say, I wonder what's going to happen exciting today?" Pooh nodded thoughtfully. "It's the same thing," he said.
