Why rely on primary sources when you use secondary and tertiary ones instead?

Its classic American politics here, otherwise known as TAG and DEMONIZE.

The funniest thing about this entire thread ... is that people can demonize her, but certainly can't spell her name.

As fellow Texans, we can hopefully, respectfully agree to not agree on this one.

The most recent Rolling Stone magazine has an article about Big Energy based in Texas.  Apparently, they are
trying to push through permits to try to get 150 coal fired power plants permitted and built before Congress enacts laws billing companies for CO2 emissions.

The first line of the article is classic: "Like so many stories of greed, corruption, cynicism, and attempts to screw the people of the United States, this one starts in Texas."

We recognize an easy mark when we see one. [;)]

Was that "article" in the same issue as the one about who is banging Scarlette Johansson?

An easy mark.  So the rest of us are simply to assume you know what you are talking about.

"Oh, caitlyn on Collarme said that there has never been corruption, greed, sticking it to the little guy, mindlessly screwing up the environment to further corporate profits, in Texas, therefore, it must not be true."

Two words:  Tom DeLay.

Faux News likes to talk about who is banging who.

Secondly, the answer is no, Scarlett Johansson's relationship was about 5 issues ago.

Dude ... it was a fucking joke already.

By the way ... I never said there has never been corruption, greed, sticking it to the little guy, mindless screwing ... etc ...

Honesty would be your better policy.

Back up here a moment...

First of all, the company that I work for has a charity care program that lower income people are eligible for.  It starts at twice the federal poverty level, which is about $50,000 for a family of four (The poverty level being around $25,000 for a family of four).

While hospital profits are remaining steady at about 5-7% per year.  Insurance company profits are skyrocketing to inflation adjusted figures of 20%+.  During a recent contract fight, my company rejected a 4% decrease in payment for the contracted period of 3 years from an insurance company who had on average raised their rates to their insured by 25% per year.

The rates for government-paid benefits to hospitals are set by <gasp> the government.  The hospital has to audit those rates because if  they begin to charge outside an expected range, the hospital can lose their ability to care for Medicare/Medicaid patients...

OK ... Texas is the most corrupt state in the Union ... and we are all uneducated, heartless, beer swilling outlaws.

These were the "median” (rounded up) annual costs for health care for the average healthy person at 35 years of age in these countries:

Persons in the: ---------- Cost for Medicare

USA ---------------------- 1800.00 USD
Canada ------------------- 1100.00 USD
Britain -------------------- 980.00 USD
Germany ----------------- 800.00 USD

And how many of those countries have 250 million people spread out across 3.5 million square miles
Only one: the US.

Since private corporations own about 50% of the facilities where healthcare is provided...are we now promoting that private companies assets should be seized by the federal gov't to promote a "better" healthcare system?

Not really where I was going, I was simply quoting an article in Rolling Stone.

Thank you for the clarification.

Actually, all it would take is for the State Government to properly bitchslap the insurance companies who don't properly process claims, but instead reject proper claim filings out of hand, just to slow down the process and force a resubmission.

I've heard numbers like THREE TRILLION DOLLARS wasted because of this business model.

Boy, those 3 trillion dollars would pay for a lot of peoples care, wouldn't it?

Anyone who would love to have free healthcare like they do in Canada and England should talk to someone who lives there...the service is horrid and the survival rate for bad problems is lower because you have to wait too long to get treatment.

Well, I live in England and here's my recent experience of British health care:

1) My Grandma died in November. She was rushed into hospital and was in there for 3 weeks before passing away. The care she received was outstanding. I mean, really it was. 24 hrs a day care, supervision, diagnosis, comfort etc. You can't ask for more than that (incidentally, that was my Grandma's 5th long stay in hospital over a 10 year period - all on the National Health Service). The girls working in the hospital were as good as gold - working long, hard shifts to look after all of the patients.

2) I've a slight problem with my back at the moment. Went to see my doctor. Was in for an x-ray within 2 weeks. Was then sent to see a phyiso within 3 weeks and have another appointment with a physio within 2 weeks of the last one. All on the National Health Service.

In sum, I'm impressed with the speed of service and the standard of care.

NorthernGent -> RE: Hilary Clinton We are Doomed (1/24/2007 11:12:09 AM)

considering there is no extra cost (above personal tax).

The idea of Bill hosting the traditional "First Lady" events would almost be worth the tradgedy of a Hillary Presidency. LOL

What fascinates me is when the idiots who elected the Smirking Chimp say that Hillary being elected would signal the coming of the Apocalypse.

The idea of Monkeyboy sucking cock is something I will have to short out of my brain with 110VAC.
