The Archangel Michael, being the protector, is someone I call on while scening...so far, so good!

lol...personally I have been calling upon St Jude ever since I joined this site...

Isn't St. Jude the Patron Saint of hopeless cases?

edited to add:  lol...duh.  Now I get it.

You knw, many of the saints could do as patron saints for submissives at least...Saints submitted their will to God,  turned their lives over to His destiny and plan, and dedicated their lives to service.  I'm not sure about a patron saint for dominants though....

Good point indeed.

But how many would be considered divine interpreters of God today or just those that hear voices and need help?

Joan of Arc for instance?

Ever see any of these galleries?

My patron saint I chose for my Confirmation was Saint Catherine of Sienna:

http://www.ewtn.com/library/MARY/CATSIENA.htm

At age 12, I chose it because I liked the name Catherine. After reading her full history, what an appropriate guide for me.

She was kick ass Domme who took on the Popes.

Popes weren't excactly the devine spokespersons back then...many I am sure were guilty of corruption and lust...right?

Somebody had to kick ass

Nice post. ;)

No contest, St. Teresa of Avila.  She became a Doctor of the Church after entering the convent at age 20, where she was plagued by long periods of illness. While ill, she would study mystical and spiritually acetic works and find herself entranced in "spiritual ecstacy."  She spiritually purged herself through the self-infliction of pain and suffering, often using self-torture to induce periods of trance or heightened awareness.  She took over an existing order of nuns by papal decree and reformed them through the application of her strict rules:  absolute poverty, giving up of all property, ceremonial flagellation every week, regular seclusion, and the ritual of going barefoot all the time.

Sounds like self gratification rather than selflessness wouldn't you agree.

Granted commited to a higher cause but how much was obtained through enjoyment of sorts I wonder?

I would have liked to been abn observer to the part of the ceramonial flagilation. [image]http://www.collarchat.com/micons/m10.gif[/image]

DINGO:
[sigh]
[clunk]
Oh, wicked, wicked Zoot. Oh, she is a naughty person and she must pay the penalty, and here in Castle Anthrax, we have but one punishment for setting alight the grail-shaped beacon: you must tie her down on a bed and spank her.
GIRLS:
A spanking! A spanking!
DINGO:
You must spank her well, and after you have spanked her, you may deal with her as you like, and then, spank me.
AMAZING:
And spank me.
STUNNER:
And me.
LOVELY:
And me.
DINGO:
Yes. Yes, you must give us all a good spanking!
GIRLS:
A spanking! A spanking! There is going to be a spanking tonight!
DINGO:
And after the spanking, the oral sex.
GIRLS:
The oral sex! The oral sex!
GALAHAD:
Well, I could stay a bit longer.

Aren't all saints pre-existing, whether or not canonized? With that in mind, anyone else interested in Simone Weil?

And, well, if Julie of Norwich doesn't get a mention you might as well throw this thread down a well.

Care to inform us of them?

Ross

LAUNCELOT:
Yes, you were. You were in terrible peril.
GALAHAD:
Look, let me go back in there and face the peril.
LAUNCELOT:
No, it's too perilous.
GALAHAD:
Look, it's my duty as a knight to sample as much peril as I can.
LAUNCELOT:
No, we've got to find the Holy Grail. Come on!
GALAHAD:
Oh, let me have just a little bit of peril?
LAUNCELOT:
No. It's unhealthy.
GALAHAD:
I bet you're gay.
LAUNCELOT:
No, I'm not.

I'd say St. Jude or St. George for the Doms, St. Mary (the original) or St. Monica for the subs.

Why?
Who are the saints?
Do Catholics worship them?

Saint Bernards?

I vote for Titivillus as patron demon for subs/slaves/etc.  Someone is responsible for all our mistakes, right? (Hey it worked for those medeival scribes...) [:D]

I am wondering if there was a patron saint assigned to the witch hunters back in the days of "Torquemada"

That might work LOL

As a mystic, she wrote extensively regarding her four stages of the ascent of the soul.

I found this in my E-Mail and thought it was worth mentioning.

St. Theresa's Prayer:
May today there be peace within.
May you trust God that you are exactly where you are
meant to be.
May you not forget the infinite possibilities that
are born of faith.
May you use those gifts that you have received, and
pass on the love
that has
been given to you.
May you be content knowing you are a child of God.
Let this presence settle into our bones, and allow
your soul the
freedom to
sing, dance, praise and love.
It is there for each and everyone of you.

Wulfchyld -> RE: A patron saint of BSDM? (2/5/2007 12:56:39 PM)

St. Martin... patron saint of edge play and humility?

nephandi -> RE: A patron saint of BSDM? (2/5/2007 1:08:35 PM)

Actualy i think perhaps Hagar, an Egyptian Princess turned slave. Nowshe is not a saint, but she is the mother of Ambraham`s first son, and when she tried to run away from her Mistress, God himself spoke to her and got her to return. She might be a good guardian saint for BDSM.

Inhibitor -> RE: A patron saint of BSDM? (2/5/2007 5:22:28 PM)

Um...Joan of Arc, anyone? Devoted to the end, all kinds of arcane tortures, and a nice dash of crazy. How is there any contest?
Also, may I point out that "dominatrix" is from the French? Eh? Ehhh?!? ;)

Edit: missed SirDiscipliner's vote. Oh well, I'll stop gloating and just add my "second." Hehe.

puella -> RE: A patron saint of BSDM? (2/5/2007 5:44:13 PM)

Actually, a great many of the saints displayed outward and often times quite gruesome masochistic tendencies.

Rather than delve into any sort of religious zealotry... I will say that perhaps one of my favorite saints would do in a pinch.

I throw a fabulous party on her Saint's day in direct protest of Valentine's day and in my continued efforts to further the Spinster-Revoltist Revolutionary Movement.

St. Margaret of Cortona, Patron Saint of fallen women!

Wulfchyld -> RE: A patron saint of BSDM? (2/5/2007 5:46:34 PM)

I think Saint Puella would do fine.

sensualmagirl -> RE: A patron saint of BSDM? (2/5/2007 5:54:53 PM)

*fast reply*

Wow... I must have been raised by a heathen (forgive me mom... ha ha ha... joking... she went to mass everyday)... I never heard of most of these saints other than the obvious... quite interesting topic, thanks!

I like Mary for everything personally, but, that's me, my first name is also Mary and my confirmation name was Mauryah (Gaellic for Mary)
