I have it on good
authority  that Sisters used to use self  flagellation
for a higher purpose. Maybe this is the road to becoming a Saint????
Thank God for the sisterhood.

Self flagellation was much more common in the monastic orders than in the convents, but yes, some of the more rigid orders did employ this as well.

For patron saint of sadists, I nominate Willy Wonka, as played by Gene Wilder.   Who could be more fitting?

LOL, Willy Wonka...... yeah he was sadistic. Well til they made that J Depp debacle.

Here is the link to a Catholic Website listing the saints,
both female and male, who had the stigmata -

What a beautiful topic. As i grew up in a protestant/jewish family my catholic knowledge is limited.

For somebody catholic i nominate Heloise, as in Abelard and Heloise.

For stories that helped a lot of men and women to understand kinkier aspects of their sexuality: Anais Nin.

For her pride, love and courage: Simone Beauvoir

I actually like those that self serve with flagellation in mind...many things can become rigid if properly applied...then there was the leather nun...[image]http://www.collarchat.com/micons/m10.gif[/image]
