And I, for one, would like to thank you for the uplifting and spiritually superior post.   It was refreshing, indeed breathtaking, to read a post so unlike that of the rude, immature, mean-spirited (sic) asses.

MaryT

I agree, Mary! It is refreshing to read her honest thoughts on the subject.   Why can't people be called on their rudeness?  Just because a lot of people do it does not make it right.  I happen to agree with her.  I do not think any of us believe it will change anything, but I add my voice to anyone stating simply, "mean people suck." <smiles>

(Yes, I saw the sarcasm.  Yes, I just let it pass me by because it does not apply here at all IMHO.)

aaaaahhh, I feel much better.  I just saw the leanardo decaprio movie and I hate cops, I almost walked out it was so damn ugly....but it was a fine film.

It's SCORCESES movie, and it kicks ass.

IMO it's a sign of respect to call someone on their shit and give it to them with an honest perspective (and no, I don't mean honest as in "I'm an asshole, but it's ok because it's true" cuz that's just being an asshole).

If I don't respect someone, I just won't answer them or try to engage with them.  If I give a response, it's because I think they are smart enough to handle it, process it and use it to their advantage.

The Departed.  I saw it last night.  It is ugly and excellent.

And luckily this site has people like Michael and me to give the big meanie answers so you all can look sweet and helpful :)

i don't understand why getting a person to see the reality of a situation has to be "being a meanie"  You don't have to cut a person's ego to ribbons to do that (not implying LA or Michale do that), just trying to get across that you can do it with compassion as well.

i prefer the posts that center around discussing ideas rather then trying to sort someones monumental problems out, but sometimes when you read them they do strike a chord and you want to help if you can.  If i am helpful great, of not oh well. This is a message board and anyone with a serious problem shouldn't really be looking for answers from people they don't know if they can trust, just mho.

When a person types in the box on the bottom it automatically posts "in reply to" to the post above it even if someone didn't mean to reply specifically to that person.  i've learned that i have to say "To no one in particular" at the beginning of a post when i am making a general comment.  It's a shame that we have to add those kinds of disclaimers but i've been jumped and flamed for just posting without knowing the defaults.  Even the "fast reply" will add the "in reply to" tagline.  it's awkward.

Well done twicehappy with the grammar correction. (And please don't read any more of this DeLust241, you'll hate it). It's always helpful gently to correct an error (and to put the correction in its context). So - even though this is a touch off topic - thank you twicehappy.

But none of us is infallible and - in a spirit of helping - may I point out your own grammatical error (or, depending on your view, spelling error).

*Addendum to above disclaimer: this is not a feel good my sisters and brothers post. Nor is it a fuck you very much post. Consider it a grammar lesson if you will bearing in mind that the disclaimer in it's entirety still holds.

Using an apostrophe in the word "it's" does not, as one might expect, indicate the possessive; rather the apostrophe stands for a missing letter "i". Thus "it's" is short for "it is" whereas "its" is in this case the possessive pronoun which you meant to use. It's so difficult to get it in its correct state.

A pain I know (achieving correct usage, not my post!) and a common error.

Please do not consider this a fuck you post, rather consider it a grammar lesson. Or a spelling lesson.

(And IvyP - I so agree with you that this should be a good place for ppl to come to to seek help and understand, with some humor thrown in for good measure. And an aggressive reply, whilst merely silly to the casual reader, can be deeply hurtful to the person making the post [help me out twicehappy - "poster"? "postee"? "postmaker"? "postperson"? "postposter"?])

And I think that's an insult to drunken potheads considering the horrendous behavior we see in the name of kink.  :)

IvyP ---

You may want to check out the Tough Decisions thread, which really impressed me. It's an example of what I think you're looking for: folks responding with helpful thoughts and advice.

Cheers,

DC

I think it be wise to remember that forums (such as CM, though not strictly thus) are just a tangible example of the real world.  What you see here is what is "out there".  Different opinions, thoughts, ideas, concepts - some good, some not so good... real, fake, fun, curmungeonly, bitter, happy, sad, perverse, you name it...

I have always shied away from thinking that there is such thing as a "safe place."  You can be hurt, abused and belittled in this forum (meaning: the Internet) as well as you can in real life.

If you happen to be one of the lucky ones (such as myself) that can find safety in the arms of the one that cherishes you... then, and only then, can you be assured that you'll get what is best for you - otherwise, you're open game.

My philosophy is each has their own opinion and their own way of expressing it. On anything I have writeen my opinion, I would hope that when someone does disagree, they will let me know and their reasoning. I can not control the manner of how they may reply but I have to respect their right to voice their views.
I have yet to be "preyed" upon by Dominants on this site, maybe that will happen in the future or it may not. Being a part of the 10 percent section of the general population may also be the reason too!!!!!

Why exactly ARE there sections titled "Ask __________" if most questions are considered to be stupid, or most OP are considered to be fakes asking stupid questions?  If this section is not the place for me to get feedback from other submissives on various aspects of submission, then why the fuck have this section???  There are many places to get factual information if I want to know about STDs, about safe fun anal play, the body parts that shouldnt be flogged, etc.  I thought this was the section to ask for feedback.

And that crap about it being the internet so we all get a free pass to act like rude, immature, mean spirited asses is just that - CRAP!!!   Perhaps if we all behaved a bit better, people would believe that some of us really exist outside of these screens.  I had no idea that I was being rude, immature, mean or a spirited ass.

And I am an excellent speller, having won spelling contests in my youth.  However I SUCK at typing LOL  Since I try to write as fast as my mind is moving, my fingers just cant keep up and you all get to read some typos.  If it makes sense, good.  If not, its a guessing game.  Make up YOUR own interpretation of what Im trying to say LOL

Since toys, inflatable dolls, imaginary playmates, etc cant type, then everytime you read something here remember that a human being typed it.  I am for real, whether YOU know me or not, whether you like me or not, whether you agree with me or not.  If hurting people or insulting them just because you can makes your day, amuses you, or gets you off I feel sorry for you.  Anyone who needs to do that on a regular basis truly lives an empty life and truly has an empty heart...
Again I'm unaware of where I insulted anyone. I try to be pretty careful with what I say on the boards and I would never be rude to 'get off' on it.

And I cant even imagine what is would be like for people who think they can have a relationship with someone who has such low regard for other human beings...
All I can say to this, is that my dog loves me.

Just MY thoughts on this thread...

Apologies if I was unintentionally rude or dismissive of you. Actually I didn't make a post to you, or even allude to you so I do not know why you posted this diatribe in reply to me. Does it make you feel good that I am upset? Are you satisfied that I'm worried I offended you? Did you remember that there is someone on the other side of this keyboard?
I do not post with hostility or dislike, sometimes I post with too much emotion but there was nothing that I posted which warranted such reaction from you IN REPLY to me.
The title of this is 'help or bitch?'...which have you done?
All of the above using red text are my words.

I was NOT commenting on your posts, or directing my post to you.  I was writing in general, not to anyone specifically.  I guess that your post must have been the last one on the board when I wrote my post, and it tagged as a reply to you.  Your post doesnt show up as a quote in my post, so I didnt send it as a comment to you.

No, I am not pleased or happy that you got upset.  I am sorry for this misunderstanding.  I am glad that you mentioned it, and told me how you felt so I could address this.   I think that took courage for you to speak up and tell me.
