Why can't the term breeder merely be looked at as "funny"?  I AM a breeder, though I'll never breed.  Words should not carry the same weight as behaviour towards another person, in my opinion.

Are you serious? It shouldn't be looked upon as funny because it's a fucking insult. It's a derogatory term. By using it, you've successfully reduced yourself to the level of people who think queer jokes are funny. Bravo!

I mean I'm a massive Oscar Wilde fan RE how he dealt with anyone messing with him verbally and as a wordsmith.

One can always opt to paint a portrait of Society's Dorian Grey then happily burn it themselves, with a laugh,a giggle, a song in the heart and a naughty glint in the eye.

Speaking professionally, I think you need to re-read The Picture of Dorian Grey.

Im just curious if anyone else has noticed this and what they think might be the reasons behind it....
Ive noticed that gay men seem to be more attracted to straight men than to other gay men, ...also are lesbians more attracted to straight women than other lesbians?

No, I'm not more attracted to straight women,  it's all individualistic for me. Although I may be attracted to a straight female on occasion it may be about their physical beauty, their intelligence, or a number of things. But I am not attracted to them in a way to want to get involved in a personal intimate relationship with them.

I think it might be something that happens more when one is coming out, when most of the women, lesbians hang with at that time are hetrosexual, but once a lesbian has access to more lesbian friends and the community those "crushes" on straight girls as in interested relationship wise drops dramatically.

I think we learn quickly that that is a fast lane to a busted up heart and avoid acting on those attractions all together.

Just what I have experienced myself and by watching and communicating with other lesbians I know.

Missy.

I find the term"breeder" offensive as well.  Next time a gay couple adopts, I hope they acknowledge that it could not have been done without the "breeders"   or a heterosexual fertilization.

Love us or hate us.. you need us.  Every gay person was conceived of a heterosexual union.

This is not necessarily true many lesbians become pregnant with sperm from a gay male friend.

And I am sure back in the day there were many closeted gays and lesbians having children.

"Speaking professionally, I think you need to re-read The Picture of Dorian Grey."

so you have made a living and rent (not part time) out of fiction and popular media?

If not, you are not speaking professionally.

and need to shut the fuck up.

I doubt that Oscar would have had a problem wit the term "breeder" had it been there in HIS day.

That is a common occurrence from what I've seen. I see this quite alot where I live with many of the gay men here. As for myself, I have no interest in chasing a straight man, but not all gay men are stereotypical either. The only 2 definite resons I see why this is so is:
1) many gay men want the challenge of "catching" a straight guy (like acquiring another notch on the bed post!)
2) many gay men truely believe most straight men are still deep in the closet.

I've spent more than my fair share of time in gay/mixed clubs.

Based on this personal experience, I've been overwhelmingly impressed with the manner in which gay men conduct themselves. In the clubbing environment, I have found that the percentage of gay men who operate with respect is far higher than the percentage of straight men. 99.9% of the time I've been left to my own devices with no attempted chat up and the other 0.01% a friendly "no thanks, I'm straight" was appreciated and left there.

Slightly off topic but if straight men have a problem being in the company of gay men then do yourselves a favour and limit your horizons. Quite simple really.
