So basically you are stating that the troops are nothing but  bunch of liars and scammers?

No Julia.  I'm saying they are smart young men who are perfectly willing to exploit the naive to get what they want.

Apparently you aren't very good at reading comprehension either.

No, it s you who are not good at writing comprehension... quoting YOU

Now color me puzzled, you are not stating that the troops would try to con honest warm hearted people out of booze money? I thought you were...

I would rather buy beer for the troops than do as you suggest..

I have a brother-in-law who was in Iraq, and he has thanked my husband numerous times for the care package he sent.

My boss’s son, who had 2 tours in Iraq, came home and stated how grateful him, and the men in his unit, were for their care packages we sent.

I would rather do that any day, than buy beer for a night.

Here is the deal, there are those of you who consistently insinuate that if one is pro-peace they are anti-troops, so when those of us who love our troops speak up about that and talk about volunteering money and time for vets and whatnot, we do so because we are tired of the slams, the put downs, the insinuation.. so if you are tired of the stories, you and those who want to slam us for  wanting to bring them home can stop doing that.  Otherwise, get used to us taking credit for time and money spent.. which I have done myself btw.

it is ironic, those of us who get accused of not supporting the troops are not the ones that called them scammmers looking for free booze and willing to lie for pussy by misrepresenting their service commitments... but that is just how I see it

I would rather volunteer my time with vets because my uncle did two tours in Vietnam and has a purple heart. In my opinion it is the vets that get forgotten all too much, but that is just my opinion based on loved ones that I have had serve... hopefully no one I am related to will ever go to Iraq.

By the same reasoning you have applied to turn my comment about a good scam in the service into an accusation, I could say that all longshoremen are lazy and overpaid.  I'm smarter than that and so are you, so knock it off, ok?

How was Hanoi Jane supporting the troops when she said the POW's were lying about their treatment?  How is attempting to cut off the money for their food and supplies supporting the troops in Iraq?  How is constantly denigrating their leadership 'supportive?'

I want them home too.  I never wanted them to go in.  I didn't sit down and have a nice cry when it started, but when I got the call that my brother was back in Germany I did go throw up a years worth of tension.

I just wanted you to acknowledge that what you were really after was to bash someone for doing something nice for our troops because you do not like his opinions... but that is ok, you would rather keep on keeping on with the insulting thing... fine by me.

Why should I defend her behavior when she does not defend it herself? Please tell me how I became the apologist for any celebrity? I do not understand that. I am responsible for my behavior.. not hers.

Rich, just imagine the apple of your eye never coming home from Iraq... that happened to Cindy Sheehan, and yet you have bashed her considerably. You have no concept of what it must be like to have your heart ripped from your chest and served to you by George W Bush. Not to mention all the smears and all the nasty hate spew thrown at her from the Right Wing Karl Rove types. You know what, I am sure she does not give a fuck, my son came home in a bodybag, I think my priorities would rapidly change, and I would not give a fuck either

While that is a lovely tale about your family, there seems to be an implication that the only part of this whole sordid tale you care about is your own flesh and blood.

You seem to take a great deal of pride in sniping at the efforts of other people attempting to do something about the world they live in, whereas I do not ever recall you sharing anything you personally have done for anybody else.

Some people are out in the world doing something to try to correct the things they see need correcting, others are sitting at their keyboards trashing the efforts of other people.

I have NO intention of jumping in this fray...I only want to inform anyone who reads the above and feels inspired to act, to check out the website www.anysoldier.com.  it is an excellent resource:  of what to send, how to send, how to find someone to send to.  you can select from servicemen and women stationed all over the world.

I would, in fact, challenge each person that has contributed to this thread to take 5 minutes, find a serviceman at this website, and send them something, anything, to acknowledge their service and make their day a little better.

Nope, I don't know Cindy Sheehan.  I have ripped her activities and will probably continue to do so.  Perhaps it is the result of her loss or maybe she was a whacko bitch long before.  I knew several guys who joined because it seemed like the only way to get out of a psycho mom's crappy house.  From what I've seen and heard her say, I'd have run like hell the day after graduation.  Personally, I joined after my first year of college.

As for the bit you snipped, how does constantly denigrating their leadership show support for the troops?  How do attempts to cut off their food and (really bad quality, government issue) toilet paper say "we love you?"

You see, I have very little respect for this attitude... she gave up her child, you gave up nothing... that is the way I see it.  Like I said, you have no concept, you are not a parent. You have not carried a child in your womb, reared that child, lost sleep for them, nurture them, watched with pride as they became an adult. You have no clue what it is to lose a child... it is the hurt that never goes away. You spoke of throwing up for fear of your brother. Now I love my sibs.. I have three of them... but there is no way I could compare the loss of one them with the loss of my heart... and my kid is my heart. You just are ignorant is all, you just do not know, and never will.

Be glad you will never know, I am sure Sheehan wishes she didn't

There was a site that had a fund to help families buy armor for their kids, since our government sent them over there without any. I wonder if someone has that site. I am sure they would rather have Kevlar vests than cookies. Although having both would be a boon

Thanks for the site, I went ahead and played soldier roulette for a few calling cards.

I did have an issue with the sites advertising 8 dollars worth of stuff for 130 dollars, but my issues with those who capitalize on the tragedy of others is not something I am going to inflict on those in Iraq.
