Hmm, good point.  But it's not just the beer industry that this is effecting.  It's going to be hitting the liquer drinkers too, I'm a vodka man really.  Taste aside I still think that's probably the reason they're doing it.  For that matter there's nothing in the world that Everclear is going to make taste better.  Then again, after the ban it would taste like water too.  Anyway you put it, beer drinker, liquer drinker...we'll be screwed.

dont really think so, since this ban is only on malted beverages, and the only reason it is even being thought up is to curb some sorta bullshit idea with a slight hint of sterotypical racism in it.

Oh really, so my Vodka is safe?  Ah, screw the reasons for it.  It sucks no matter the reason.  I'll back up the beer drinkers too.  Drinkers of the world unite!

lol. Actually we've had our alchohol rebellion already too.  It was called the "Whiskey Rebellion and took place soon after we (some would say) got lucky enough to win the 1st war.  I can't recall offhand when it took place exactly though.  The "rebels" didn't rebel for long as I understand it.  George Washington made short work of it.  Also from what I've heard ( a fact seldom mentioned in text books) the "indians" who held the Boston Tea Party had spent the afternoon imbibing some liquid courage before hand.  Things haven't changed much since I imagine.  There are still those who need some "help" before they take the risk of getting into trouble.  :)  I don't drink myself.  I have drank some in the past though not very much, and being on meds for blood pressure and having diabetes I don't need any additional help in messing up my blood sugar. :D
Too it will also effect alcohol elsewhere in the world.  I saw a program the other week about how whiskey and other such drinks are made.  A lot of the barrels that those in the UK use for aging their alcohol were made in the U.S.  They are used here for a yr before the drink is put in a new barrel and the old barrel is sold to companies overseas. Since the barrel was charred on the inside and alcohol was allowed to seep into the wood for a yr it adds to the flavor of the european drink when it is placed in the pre-used wooden barrels.  Or so I understand from the show I saw about brewing.

I shudder at the thought of you poor Americans with the beers you have available to you as things are. The notion of restricting availability still further should be grounds for rebellion. I mean, you got excited enough about a bit of tea, and this is beer we're talking.

The key to this is in the "windfall for the major brewers". Although whether the likes of Budweiser is brewed rather than drawn from the urine traps at pig farms is debatable, I guess they are still registered as brewers.
