Well, depending on the location of the mall, there is the ever popular and conversation ending:

"Yes, Jesus is and always has been my Master. Have you given your life to Him yet, too? The Lord led the Israelites out of bondage, perhaps He can still help you too."

oh, very good answer!!!

I know from people in the background on the local news, and in the audience of TV shows and even via the guy at the store, that I have several doppelgangers walking around the area, region and country, so I'd just look blankly and deny it.

Whats awful to note from that though, is that these doppelgangers appear to be genetic women. One has to feel sorry for them, looking like me.

I would have acknowledged the name,Mine was outed in a email to friends and family without the person thinking anything of it.

I wouldnt have stuck around long enough to let him say more.
Saying "well  we must be going ,take care" and walking off doesnt give many people a chance to say "dont you go on site such and such..."

Thankfully Mine is older and has some knowledge so I dont have to live a secret life at the same time its not thrown in his face.I answer questions honestly with the attitude of just enough but not too much info.

If the guy is on here and sees it,hopefully he will think twice next time.
Being a little low key works out in public.

What an idiot.

Why some people think they have the right to demand things is beyond Me.

ok, i am only 21 years old....so i identify with the young one in the situation....if i was out someplace with my MOM and someone said something like that to her i would be sooooo freaked out..... i don't know if you remember but teenagers believe that they were hatched from eggs, lol.....parents don't have sex..... at least it is nice to be able to think they don't.  privacy is important... i don't get how some people can't understand that

slavejali -> RE: Publically Outed Recognized from online profile (2/1/2007 11:12:31 PM)

I would reacted like.."Well since you know so much about me, you know I'm into martial arts, then I would have booted him in the head..(well at least felt like it but my self discipline probably would have stopped me from actually doing it....)..sooooooooooo I would be hoping Master would be there to do it for me....[;)]

SusanofO -> RE: Publically Outed Recognized from online profile (2/1/2007 11:26:03 PM)

That is just so inappropriate for a complete stranger to do, I would have said something like:

"Why no - I am sure you probably mean well, but have to say, I am a bit taken aback that  someone I don't know would ask me such a thing. I am sure you mean well, but have me mistaken for someone else. I have to go now."

If he insists he saw you on here - I'd just ignore him, or keep denying it - or find a security guard (if it gets really weird).

End of encounter. He probably didn't think about it before he said it, or mean to be rude - but that is exactly how I would handle it. No need to feel any guilt about it, either - I agree with juliaoceania.

Your personal life is absolutely not a total stranger's business - ever (IMO). Unless there is a particular reason you want to admit it, anyway. I just find the whole thing appalling, in many ways. I understand some folks have a casual attitude toward being in "the life-style" - but, I don't think anyone should take that as any guarantee anyone else feels the same way.

I would have looked at him square in the eye and in my best Robert Deniero(s?) said;
"You Talkin' to ME?[>:]" then roll my eyes [8|] and walk away.

If my son asked what he was talking about I'd say; "I have no idea".

Reason number 41 why I don't post a picture! Seriously...people think that this whole "I value my privacy" thing is a joke but I work in an industry where I know for a fact a lot of kinky people exist and I'd prefer to divulge my lifestyle choices to those I trust rather than some random person on a job recognizing me from this site.

...I'm with 'Smartass.

With a teenage daughter, perhaps one ought not post photos.  After all, are you watching the whole time she surfs?  Maybe you're cool with having her view your profile????

I would like to pose a situation that occurred to a friend of mine this past week and ask for responses on how you would have handled it.

You have a profile and a picture on this site. You are out shopping in a city mall with your older teenage daughter who is standing right beside you.  You are approached in a store by man who asks if you have the screen name such and such.
You have used this name for many years in all manner of places on the net. Vanilla and lifestyle.  You acknowledge yes.  He immediately says he is such and such from Bondage and asks if you are still with the same Master.  I am curious how you would have reacted and what advice you would give this "man" should he read this thread?

Personally, like others have mentioned, I think it is unwise to use the screen same name all over the net.  I have a different screen names for my other non-bdsm accounts--one for my friends and family, one for career, one for my part-time business.  The one I have on Collarme and other BDSM sites is used strictly for the lifestyle.

Nonetheless, I think what this man did was absolutely inexcusable.  He should have had enough common sense to know that approaching someone like that was WAY out of line, particularly with a family member right there.  If this had happened to me, I would have shot him a puzzled look and said, "You must be mistaken--I don't have a clue what you are talking about" and walked off.  When I got home, I would have looked him up on b.com and sent him a message setting him straight and telling him to NEVER, EVER do this to anyone again in the future.

I'm not a big fan of posting a picture, and hearing things like this makes me even more reluctant to do so.

well, this slave wouldn't have lied.  might have engaged him in smalltalk, but not for too long.  the replicant in question is aware this slave has a Master and it isn't just some sick perverted illegal immoral sexual euphoria we choose to engage in from time to time.  then again, she's a very open-minded, anti-holier-than-thou animal rights preaching vegan pacifist who has never seen this slave happier.  she wishes we'd all give the leather a rest and even knows the secret meaning of the word "munch", however, this slave drew the line at teaching her the sacred secret handshake.[:)]

as for this slave's advice to the guy in question...never assume folks are open with ANYONE in a public place.  doesn't matter if it was a replicant, a co-worker, one's minister, etc.

My apologies.  My answer stands for your friend.

The internet is not a private place.

In that case, if you share or sometimes for convenience use the same computer (always happens in my house) make sure you always clear your cache and list of sites visited too. Better yet, have your browser set to do it automatically when you log off.

I'm divorced now  with still young children and periodically get paranoid that if something should happen to me, the kids would come over, to clean up the place and find toys, sites on the internet etc. Last year I went to the hospital for a procedure after a bit of a scare, but before hand threw or gave away lots of favorite toys, and cleaned out urls I can't seem to locate anymore.

dawntreader -> RE: Publically Outed Recognized from online profile (2/2/2007 5:44:45 AM)

Although i don't share my computer everything is password protected including the password protector so even history is protected...there are several programs out there...
