being openminded means being willing to change all your interests to fit that of the dominant who takes control of you

you dont really need to get along with a dominant outside of a scene.

God that's sour in tone.

When I finally got to peek around the curtain and meet real Mistresses, what struck me was:

1. Mistresses are just ordinary people like everyone else and that normalcy plays a great role in their lives and world outlook.

2. Mistresses have insecurities and emotional vulnerabilities notwithstanding being "dominant."

3. Mistresses have a sense of humor and don't always take themselves or what they do that seriously.

All these things contradict the imperial, all-knowing, Queen-Goddess achetype.

I agree with most of what has been posted here.  But, I have another angle.  Are there really that many myths?
I think many submissive males are living in fantasy land, they create a lot of things and situations in their minds,
and are looking for a woman to fulfill their desires.  This is my opinion, from talking to so many men online.

Thank you for making light of "subs" who make up sh*t in their heads about what they think a female dominant is.

I once asked a "sub" what he thought a female dominant was and he could give me this real distinct answer of what he thought a female dominant should be. Yet when I asked him to come up with a definition for what a male dominant was he (surprise surprise) couldn't think of a damn thing. Submission does not entail defining what the dominant is like, in fact, defining what someone "should" be like is actually dominance on a grand scale.

I was talking to one Mistress who is going through a death in her family so she is not really focused on play so much but does have slaves who did call her everyday because of  the promise to serve.So when she is not that strong  ,"beat your ass" Mistress to them , the value or promise to serve disappears. She is not hearing from her special slave for a while now, even though he promised to be there for her........ -I guess Mistresses are suppose to be uneffected by real lifes events...

I'm not a Mistress but I've heard multiple misconceptions about them.

1. All Mistresses are bitches.
2. They all want to fuck male sub/slaves with strap-ons.
3. Latex and PVC is everyday wear.
4. They ALL call themselves Goddesses. And normally the Goddesses call themselves such due to *ahem* weight.

I would say the biggest problem people have reading me on the internet is that I am very real time.   It could be because I have not found the right group for me.  I really love the groups because it helps me learn.
They confuse new Mistress with inadequate Mistress.  I have been in the life four years now.  I am getting ready to start my slave in Chasity.  I have come a long way in a short time period.  I have learned from local people as well as the internet. 
I am happy to say that people I know are beginning to accept me as the Mistress I am becoming.
Let's face it.  Sometimes myself included, lifers can be very cruel to each other. 
The best thing is to accept each other for what we are and try not to judge.
