dcnovice -> RE: Jesus please protect me from your followers.... (2/4/2007 7:33:11 PM)

I'm pretty sure there are times when Jesus wanted protection from his followers too.

I loved the tagline. Keep it just like it is. Oh, go for the bumper sticker deal. You'll make a fortune.

I am extremely concerned about this sig line. It shows extreme selfishness.

I mean, it could ask for protection for all of us, rather than Domiguy alone.

ok how about...

p.s. Jesus please protect us from your followers.

I saw a t-shirt once at a pagan gathering: "I don't have a problem with Jesus, it's his fan club that bothers me"

Some people may not want that protection.  That would make your kink non-consensual, and you a rapist.

Rot in hell, lowlife.

Yours,

benji

I am a little slow this week, it's the ice cubes running thru my veins.

I love the tag line, it makes me smile. Keep it.

Sanity -> RE: Jesus please protect me from your followers.... (2/10/2007 5:14:19 AM)

I think that it's sad that so many people here take this much joy in hating and bashing an entire group of people. While I'm no Christian, I'm well aware that many Christians are selfless in their service to mankind, like Mother Theresa and countless others just like her all over the planet. Yeah, sure - there are a few bad apples, but that is the same everywhere you turn among any group of people, even this one right here. But using the few bad apples as an excuse to attack the entire group is akin to Nazism in my book. You want to be accepted by society, yet you think it's wise to begin casting stones (so to speak)? What's the matter with you. And besides that, you are no doubt being hurtful to some of the Christians who come here seeking a life partner of some kind. How do you people justify taking joy in that? I think it's ignorant, hypocritical, and disgusting.

cjenny -> RE: Jesus please protect me from your followers.... (2/10/2007 5:37:11 AM)

I am trying but I cannot think of any other religion that has landed on my doorstep uninvited & holding a poorly written pamphlet espousing dislike and distrust towards those not involved in their chosen religion.
The last pamphlet I received was about 2 weeks ago from my friendly Jehovah folks. It was all about the horrors of homosexuality & how to either overcome or avoid 'those' people.
Darn right I find that sort of thing offensive to the nth degree.
Darn right I find his tag line amusing.
It points to FOLLOWERS.. not the religion itself. Take it with a grain *or pillar if preferred* of salt and try to see the message behind it.
It is such an insignificant thing ( I am sorry domiguy dear... it isn't you that is insig lol) to get upset about. Do folks chase down cars with bumper stickers? That is what this makes me think of, chasing down a car with a bumper sticker that you do not like.

His FOLLOWERS do things like run orphanages in places like Belize. Why do you feel you need protection from people like that? Oh, someone might knock on your door?

What horror.

No, really - I'm not laughing at you.

Sarcasm as a response is so....tedious. Where is FukinTroll when I need him??

Sarcasm is what you deserve.

It is not an insignificant thing, as you try to claim.

It's Nazism.

I am sorry but I do not understand why you say I am deserving of sarcasm.
Do I know you?
Do you know me?
Is the tag line mine?
Um yes I am of Germanic heritage.. but I am not a Nazi.
Truly there is no need for sarcasm nor hositility. This is a forum, filled with the opinions of a variety of folks. IMO the tag line is humorous. IMO it ticks me off that people arrive on my doorstep weekly attempting to bring me to their church regardless of my beliefs.
The key here, is the IMO bit.

valeca -> RE: Jesus please protect me from your followers.... (2/10/2007 6:14:49 AM)

It's a 7 word signature line on an internet forum of 1000's of users.  It's insignificant.

Block the person if it's that offensive.   Then you don't have to read it.

Simple.

The choice is yours.  Sounds more like democracy to me.

'Nazism' is more like telling people what they can, and can not, say.

...wait...

hmmmm.

cjenny -> RE: Jesus please protect me from your followers.... (2/10/2007 6:17:50 AM)

*nods to valeca til she looks like a bobble head doll. uhhuh. uhhuh. uhhuh.*
Yeah. What she said.

You mean sarcasm and hostility like the following - "Jesus save us from your followers" or perhaps "God save us from the Jews"

Alpha897 -> RE: Jesus please protect me from your followers.... (2/10/2007 6:22:20 AM)

I haven't read all of the replies to Domiguy's post but I think I have something to offer some of you. What prompted me to respond to this post was the response of MsPoetress.
  "I don't have a problem with Jesus:

I have a problem with the people who come to my door, and try to strong arm me into coming to their church. They will even stick their foot in the door as I close it to get another word in.

I have a problem with, being acosted outside of a business facility, especially when I decide to light up a smoke when I first walk out, and they want to preach to me about how cigarettes are witchcraft, and how I put smoking before God.

I have a problem with family members getting screwed out of certain amounts of money by the TV evangelists.

I have a problem with preachers who preach what they seldom practice.

So yes... I have a problem with Jesus' followers"

I would like to point out that I don't believe that it is the followers of  Jesus that you have a problem with. It is my thinking that it is more then likely that you have a problem with those who say they are followers of  Jesus. It takes more then merely saying you are a Christian to actually become one. So be bigger then the self proclaimed christians and forgive them for they know not what they do. All a lot of them need is a good example to follow.
One gentleman went so far as to say that Christians are just like Muslims.... that's a pretty broad brush your using there. I think it is human nature to some degree to find a negative trait about a particular group of people and decide that is what they all must be like. Unfortunately it is human nature but it is the lower nature of man not the higher nature that causes us to think those who few in a group of people who have crossed our path represent the entire group.
I have been up all night so I hope this is coherent.
As far as completing your tag goes Domiguy for myself I would say :     Jesus please protect me from myself.

Badkitty0810 -> RE: Jesus please protect me from your followers.... (2/10/2007 6:24:49 AM)

Those followers who are doing good deeds are not the ones I personally have a problem with.  It's the ones who have knocked on my door and invaded my home or accosted me in the street with their little pamphlets filled with vitriol, hate and intolerance and who try to cram their beliefs down my throat feeling that I need to be "saved" that I have issue with.  In my own experience, it's been the ones who were the most vocal about what a good Christian they are who were the biggest hypocrites.

Anyone, regardless of which diety they choose to follow, who feels that their religion or beliefs are the one TRUE way and that all others are condemned to hell or whatever sort of eternal damnation awaits, are the ones that piss me off.  There have been many wars fought over religious and ideological differences.  So much for "thou shalt not kill" eh?
