Call me mean spirited or whatever your heart desires but I must vent about something that I found in someone's profile because it really irritated me.

In general it basically stated that if you were 40 and lived in an apartment that you couldn't be a dominant. Now this bothers me on two levels, the first of which is that I live in an apartment and I am 41 years old and a dominant. The second item that chafes my nether regions is that by sheer implication, that statement in that profile is single-minded and basically rude in it's nature.

Before everyone tears into me and tells me to "get over it" allow me to attempt to explain why I even bothered posting about this. Does financial standing have anything to do with being a dominant? If, (at middle age) I do not own a home, does this mean that I am incapable of owning a submissive? Is social status tied into the perception of dominance? I believe the answers to those questions are fairly obvious but I am quite curious to see if this actually is something that a submissive will place any weight in when evaluating a potential dominant.

mmmmmmmmm well then.. all I can say about this.....

This so-called submissive better be living in an apartment.... becuase she just can't be submissive if she owns her own house.... lol

Being a "Dominant" is a matter of sexuality, nothing else. One may prefer a dominant with a house, or what have you. . . but that does not define one's sexuality. There are a lot of subs on this site who have taken it upon themselves to decide who is or isn't a dom, but by definition, anyone who is sexually motivated by dom-type activities is a dom. S/he might not be the dom you're looking for, but that doesn't mean that s/he isn't the perfect dom for someone else. About 99.9% of the subs on this site are distinctly not what I'm looking for, but I don't decide that, based on that, they are not really subs - that idea is crazy. I think part of the problem is that this is like blind dating - you're going to run across lots of people that aren't what you're looking for (most of them actually). But people can't pack everything that's important to them or that makes them who they are into a snug little profile in a few minutes. Honestly, most of the subs I've ever known are far more finacially responsible than the doms I've known, and I don't know any doms who are looking for subs that they can run financially into the ground - usually they're looking for someone to spank.

Nice one, Knight...and upon reflection...so sensible in the light of the requirement for the dominant.[&:]

Or a card board box... but then, she'd also need a delousing I suppose.  Always a catch to everything isn't there.

GeekyGirl -> RE: You Cannot Be Dominant If You Live In An Apartment (2/5/2007 6:11:01 PM)

I haven't read through this whole thing, but I will chime in and state that I do not feel that living in an apartment indicates a lack of financial responsibility. My previous master was 37yrs old and still living in an apartment. He made more than enough money to afford a house...it was simply not something he desired. He didn't want the responsibility of caring for the house itself. Many apartments are quite costly (even here in TX, where most folks prefer houses, a good apartment is just as expensive as a house or more-so. That phenomenon isn't limited to New York).

The only consideration I give to the apartment situation is this: should a dom I was involved with ever desire for me to live with him, we would have to find a house, because I have pets that I am not willing to give up.

I think I need someone to make me out an itinerary, so I can alter my profile as needed. So I will fire off the list for you, and you tell me what I need to do with my profile.

I live in a pretty big house right now. However I have some business to tend to so I am about to live in a 5th wheel. After the 5th wheel I will be living on a 40' yacht. After that back in the 5th wheel till I get home. I will be home for a while then back in the 5th wheel and then into a 45' yacht. From the yacht back to the 5th wheel, then back home. Then just for the hell of it I might go live in a hammock for awhile.

So can someone please help me with my status for all these transitions?

Signed

Who owns the yacht? What is your role on the yacht? So many questions before we can tell you. :)

Wulfchyld -> RE: You Cannot Be Dominant If You Live In An Apartment (2/5/2007 6:39:44 PM)

I owns the yacht.

It is a Tri-40 Victress by Pyver. It is in WA right now. I am taking it to Mexico for renovations and updating the ama’s, new masts, and such. Then it is going to Hawaii to be sold off in time-shares.

I think a Dom can live anywhere They want.
Being a Dom is a state of being not a state of living space.

Living in an apartment can be a benefit in several ways...short commute to work,
not having to pay for things like water heaters, get bored with the view its an easy move.

The Mortgage Company lets Me stay where I'm at as long as I send the check each month....lol The "dwelling" I'm in now is is being replaced once we can work the ground...but anyway
Being a homeowner can be great,no neighbors right above/below you.
Paint anything you want whatever color you want.
The repairs can suck, but I will do things Myself rather than pay someone else to fix things...I wonder is that where the saying  "Jack of all Trades Master of None"...came from?
