Status: offline 		Just seems like if other countries think american football and baseball are such a joke, and don't take them seriously, why the hell should you care what we call the final showdown events?  I'm no big fan of either, but nor am I a big fan of anti-American sentiment, however thinly disguised.

We go to martial arts events that titled themselves 'World Cup'..and the people taking away the medals really believe they are "world class" even though perhaps they only came up against competitors from 6 countries...and  in their actual event they may have only come up against 4 people in total We are making plans to take a team to Florida in July for another "World Cup" in the States...*grin*.

People have big egos, they want to feel that they are the best of the best of the best, so titling these events this way ensure they get the people to participate, its all propoganda.

Think about it, even at Olympic level, the winnners there, are they really the best in the world? Or are they just a bunch of people who have focused on a particular sport and "competed"...I had a conversation with Master about this at one time, he said some players in the NFL have been clocked as breaking Olympic level speed runs....so where does that leave our Olympic medal winners in regards to "World" ranking in reality? Heck, Farmer Bob from Hichikitchicoo, could be the fastest man alive and we would never ever know it.

Life on earth is just one giant big game, you can get caught up in the illusions that are presented to you or not. Your choice. Nothing to worry or be concerned over though.

Status: offline 		       What are you talking about America being the only country that plays football.  Europe has an professional American style football league, HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!...oh, *wiping a tear way* almost kept a staight face when I said that. 
     Athletes think they're the world because we as a people allow them to.  We place them above doctors and educators by buying into their hype...paying for sportsware, autographs, stupid bobbleheads.  The only time I've seen people on mass get together and say I'm tired of this bullshit was during the MLB strike...when already overpaid athletes bitched and moaned about not being paid enough. All those empty seats made a statement.  Too bad it didn't last.

Now there's an offer.......we don't even win darts anymore, a Dutchman won the world title recently (85% of players are British)........I used to play a lot when I was younger so I'll give you a run for your money lol.......throw in some beer and it's an offer not to be turned down! I'll bring some of our real ales with me to mark the oocasion....

Now that is hardly fair NG, surely using real beer to influence the outcome of a game is sinking a little low. I am not sure the average american drinker could manage much speckled hen or theakstons old etc before requiring a crash mat to prevent injury during the inevitable collapse.

Speckled Hen?  Probably not, because it's piss water.  But Black Sheep Ale?  Sure, I'll take a handful of pints of that and play any day.  Sorry, but British beer really is not all you guys are trying to crack it up to be.  Try Polish or Czechoslovakian beer, because British beer does not even hold a candle to it.

Status: offline 		I've been to both countries and I would say the Czechs do the best lagers I've ever tasted. Then again, I'm not much of a lager drinker unless it's a red, hot day. I've also tried the Czech dark ales and they're ok.

Now, when it comes to our ales, to say they're not all they're cracked up to be you would need to sample thousands of our ales to make a judgement. I was at a beer festival in Carlisle last year and they had 120 different ales on at just one festival - most of these from the Carlisle area.

Black sheep - it's decent enough but it's one of our mass produced ales that's sold in most pubs. In terms of where it ranks among other ales, it's not even in the fourth division. We have villages all over the North of England which brew their own ales and they're sold only within the pubs of that particular village or at beer festivals - these ales are pure gold. None of this mass produced nonsense. Using our Black Sheep as a standard for British ale is like using Labatts Ice as a standard for Canadian beer.

I can guarantee anyone who appreciates a good ale would have a field day at one of our beer festivals. They'd be like a kid at christmas.

I would jump at the opportunity to go to one of Britain's beer festivals.  Beer tasting is one of my favorite pasttimes.  I, most likely as you, drink not to get drunk but for the taste.  That is why I like Czech beer so much, as do you.
