Thanks.  One of these products is bound to work.

I'd be interested in knowing the results. I love doing stuff with fabrics, heh maybe I've a textile fetish.

Aileen68 -> RE: Craft Question (2/5/2007 3:39:04 PM)

I knew someone who wanted me to wear silk gloves because he loved how they felt on his body.

Aileen68 -> RE: Craft Question (2/5/2007 3:40:08 PM)

If it comes out like I hope it will then I'll post pictures.

Aerosol hairspray.....should work...Or I could swing by and climb up on table while you are all enjoying "Aileen's gruel dejour"

and whack while you slowly spin mobile.

out.

Aileen

Be careful in using Stiffy (heh) it does dry to a matte finish and you'll lose the gloss of the silk. you may want to consider using Stiffy and then cover with a high gloss coat of something else to retain the original sheen of the silk.

I'm gonna send you a teddy bear.

BobTheMaster -> RE: Craft Question (2/5/2007 3:50:07 PM)

hmm this is a tricky one - ask me to design a 'wine barrel' rack device that folds away for easy underbed storage - ill have you sketches and design details in a couple of hours - but this?
it occurs to me that a light spray glue of some kind might work well

form your wire shape and spray with the glue then lay the shape down onto pre stretched piece of silk - should take only a few seconds to make a light bond which should allow you to trim round the silk enough to wrap the wire so it doesnt show - if your careful you only get the glue on the wire and the fabric round the wire so dicolouration wouldnt show. plus if you have several pieces all the same colour to do you can lay out a large bit of cloth and do lots of shaps all at once.

that said wire is not the best material for glueing - concider very thin swatches of bamboo or wood - the pourous nature of a natural material leds itself better to gluing

I think a better bet would be Petal Porcelain. It's made specifically for silk flowers and ribbons and keeps the gloss shine. makes it look like well porcelain.

I've used it on small silk flowers and a piece of silk I used on some cigar box purses I've made recently. I was able to curl up the edge of the silk map fabric to look like the real thing and it's kept beautifully.

domiguy -> RE: Craft Question (2/5/2007 3:53:32 PM)

Please make it out of silk...don't sit or lay on it.....It makes Teddy smell funny.

out.

p.s. Jesus please protect me from your followers and icky smelling teddy bears.

Aileen68 -> RE: Craft Question (2/5/2007 3:55:19 PM)

That looks exactly like what I need.  Thanks.

Aileen68 -> RE: Craft Question (2/5/2007 3:57:01 PM)

I'm gonna huff and puff all over it then use it to wipe myself.
Expect the UPS man tomorrow.  I'll get it to you quick so it's still fragrant.

SDFemDom4cuck -> RE: Craft Question (2/5/2007 5:41:29 PM)

You're quite welcome...let us know how it turns out.

ps if you put that teddy bear in a ziplock back it will stay fresher and more...fragrant.
