You know, of course, that not everyone CAN put a picture on their profile.  Could be due to family pressures, job, etc.

So come on you lot all who have'nt got pics on your profile please kindly do so,as it is really lovely to be able to put a name to a face.I could'nt care less who see's my pic on here as Collarme.com is a way of life for me.You must'nt worry to much about other people, as life is really to short.To worry about what everyonelse may or may not think about you.[:D].

Wrong.  Maybe in the UK, but not necessarily here in the States.  In a privately owned company, you can get fired if the owner doesn't like the perfume you're wearing.  Please get your facts straight BEFORE you post.

I usually email people on the other side and ask to see a picture. 
I like to have a face to the words.  I've only been turned down once.

What if you're a grade school teacher, and a parent that just happens to be curious about BDSM (although hasn't learned the etiquitte) finds out you're into this?  A lot of parents are really crazy and don't want to expose their children to that.  There are parents that don't want their children in a classroom with a homosexual teacher. 
It's not necessarily about ridicule from the company, it could be about ridicule from clients a person my have.

You should thank whatever God you pray to, seekstofasn8adom, that everyone on CollarMe doesn't have a picture on their profile.  See......on CollarMe you've got the good, the bad, and the hideously ugly that shouldn't leave their homes on account of being accidently shot down by hunters enjoying the moose season.

Hey, your situation in your country is different from here in
the USA.  Many occupations have certain behavioral expectations
of their employees - i.e. moral conduct.  A person who works
with children in any capacity, a civil servant, a member of the
clergy or simply someone who live in a small town has to be
careful about being publically recognized for Kink.
 
If you want to find out how bad this situation can be,
ask some of the divorced parents here if their ex-spouses
used their sexual preferences in custody fights.  Hell,
ask some of the people whose private parties, homes,
and dungeons have been raided by the police and whose
members have been arrested.  I suggest you do a Web-search
on the NCSF, National Coalition for Sexual Freedom and
the court case of The San Diego Six.

I think there's a cultural difference here and quite possibly a legal difference.

My understanding is, in Britain, company law protects workers' freedom of choice in relation to private matters (there will be no resulting dismissal, unless you are breaking the law). I suppose this is one the benefits of living in a culturally, less conservative environment.

I do take the point that the post in question was made by an American relating his experience.

The above makes sense. If you're a teacher, do you want to open yourself up to ignorant parents........probably not. Whether or not ignorant parents read this site is a different matter but I can see that maybe it's a risk not worth taking.
